@SuperBlackjack87 the 1st gen lightning is supposed to be 240hp and 340Lb-Ft stock according to motorweek. they have a vid on youtube for the lightning. said 0-60 was about 7.5 seconds. but they will be fast as hell with some mods.
@SuperBlackjack87 lol yeah, i used to have a 78 f150 with a 351 in it but it was only about 165hp and i would guess around 280-300Lb-Ft. i now have my 08 4.2L V6 f150 with a K&N intake and an SCT X3 tuner with custom tunes. so i am probably around 210-215hp and 270ish Lb-Ft
@timmypstyle my 08 f150 has a edge performance tune, intake and straight pipes. im getting atleast 300 horse power with all that.. right now im gettin a shift kit, stall and new clutches in my automatic tranny.. im gettin it overhauled
@SuperBlackjack87 i was told that an intake and tuner would add about 10hp, my exhaust is still stock tho. mine is a 5spd so it is not too bad but i moved to colorado before i got the tuner. it was slow as hell. now it is back to what it was in PA. cant wait to go on vacation again and get the normal power back plus have the extra power from the tuner. i could stay with my buddy's 06 5.3L silverado to a point, so hopefully with the tuner i can get him. i could take his 04 4.8L silverado already
@timmypstyle well idk about ur truckbut mine with the intake, tuner and pipes i bumped from 240 stock to like 300/320 horse bro.. a 5.3 i can take it easy,, i can even take a 6.0 ss silverado and vmax
@SuperBlackjack87 i actually heard that from f150 tuners. you actually only probably gained about 20-25hp at the most with tuner, intake and exhaust. if you get custom tunes they can squeeze out maybe 5 more hp and dyno tuning maybe a few more on top of that. i have heard for a long time that with an intake, exhaust and tuner you gain about 10% which would put yours at 25 more hp. i would be you are looking at about 275hp right now. i too have beaten a few 5.3L silverados and also 5.4 f150s
@timmypstyle I have an 06 gmc swb single cab with the 4.8, cold air and chip, chip didnt seem to help a lot except i could run past 93, but, hey i love fords and the lightning, had ford trucks all my life lovem, back to my story, my gmc would hook and get two lengths on my buds hemi, same setup, and stay two lengths thru the quarter, and ive heard the 4.8 is quicker than the 5.3, gearing i suppose, thumbs up!!!! are first gen lightning super charged????
@curtknows101 the 4.8 is not faster than the 5.3L if you race the same rearends. my buddy had an 04 4.8L silverado reg cab shortbed 2wd and it had a 3.42 rearend. he now has an 06 reg cab shortbed 4wd 5.3L with the 3.42 also. the 4.8 would get a better jump but the 5.3 would pass it quickly. And also what tuner or chip do you have. if you dont get a good one, it will do nothing. i have a custom tuned SCT X3. also 1st gen lightnings are not SC'ed, they are upgraded 5.8L V8s.
@timmypstyle they are about 240hp and 340Lb-ft. they have different heads and a few other things that bump up their power by 40hp and 40Lb-ft over a normal 5.8L. my advice for you is to find a silverado or sierra forum online and become a member, they are usually free. then ask around and see how people like certain tuners. most ford owners use the SCT brand or a predator tuner. many GM diesel owners choose banks or bully dog. i love my SCT, woke my 4.2L up
@timmypstyle dont create a thread and ask which tuner is the best because it is a matter of opinion. there is also a difference between Canned tunes which are the pre-loaded tunes on a tuner, or custom tunes which are tunes written by a GM specialist to squeeze out more power than canned and can also be adjusted to your modifications. tell them you have an intake and exhaust and the can write a tune to add even more power than you can get with a stock sierra.
@timmypstyle Also custom tunes are written to mate with your computer only. meaning you cant pull it off and use it on another truck unless you send it to the manufacturer and have it unlocked. Canned tunes are for any vehicle the product listing says it will work on. and you can only use one tune at a time. you cant load a tune on more than one vehicle at a time. 1st vehicle must be returned to stock before a tune can be loaded on another vehicle. any ?'s just message me.
@timmypstyle Thankyou for the first gen info, wasnt sure, just know ive always wanted a lightning, my 4.8 has the diablo sport, i know, its not the greatest, i just hated the 93 mph limiter, and of course the 5.3 has more torque, the thing is they also mostly came with higher gears than the smaller 4.8, so yea given the same gear ratio the 5.3 should out pull, just my little 4.8 is a screamer, just may be one of the few that everything is just rite on, not being argumentative 8-D
@curtknows101 yeah it all depends, my parent's 00 sierra 4.8 is a dog and cant peel out and it has 3.73s. my buddy's 04 was a 4.8 and was pretty quick. i have a video of my parent's on youtube. my buddy's i would guess a 0-60 of about 8 seconds.i am pretty sure you could get any ratio with the 4.8 or the 5.3 but all the Z71s i think were 5.3's with higher gears. mt parents is also an ext cab 4x4, my buddy's was a reg cab shortbed. i have my V6 f150 and it runs really well for a V6.
@timmypstyle also there is a motorweek clip on youtube that has all the info on the lightning. but yeah i have a lot of people tell me my V6 is slow and that even comes from other people with the same engine. some even left comments on a few of my videos saying that im doing my runs downhill which it is actually slightly uphill. even my 04 heritage 4.2L f150 was a good runner, just slower because of the 3.08 rearend. my 08 has the 3.55 rearend. i have vids of both with intake.
