I have agoraphobia, too. I developed it 3 years ago. I quit college because of it. Now, I can leave the house but only when I'm with my mom. I also have talent in singing but anxiety keeps me from showing it. I admire you because you didn't let your talent be affected by your condition.
@msacc19 Im sorry to hear that, this may sound odd, but remember you are very lucky to still be able to go out even if its with your mother, i would give anything to be able to go out who ever it was with, never stop going out as believe me you do not want to end up like me completely housebound for for 3 years not able to even step out of my front door, having multiple severe panic attacks daily in my own home and constantly living in fear and a state of anxiety its hell.
@jemmahixon Thank you for replying, it means a lot to me. :) Yeah, somehow I feel lucky that I can still go out even if it's always w/ my mom but there are just times when I really feel like hopeless and alone specially that I live in a country(asian) where these kinds of condition isn't as well known and supported. I'm sorry, it must be really hard for you dealing with panic attacks since you were 6 years old. Be strong too, I know we can do this. ;) And more success to you! ♥
@msacc19 I have been housebound for 3 years but my panic attacks and anxiety started when i was just 6 years old and developed into agoraphobia, i missed out on a normal childhood spending time in therapy, being anxious, not being able to go to parties or shopping with friends and other normal things girls do growing up. So this is something I have been dealing with for about 15 years. Be strong, seeing as you are able to go out even with your mother...
@msacc19 you CAN conquer this, it WONT be easy but be strong and work hard :) I'm sure you know that it is possible to get better, thats the thing that keeps me going, sometimes my negative thoughts and depression get the better of me and they start to take over in the sense that I feel i can no longer go on being trapped in my home in fear, but you have to keep on going. You will get there and i hope i can get there too.Much love <3
Can you go outside to your backyard if you have one? If you cant i understand but I kinda had a suggestion about having performances. If can't go out to your backyard well maybe its a goal you can reach to help you. If you could go outside at least in your backyard you could set up a stage and perform on it with just a few of your closest family or friends meanwhile youtubing it at the same time.
I keep seeing jemmas responses to ppl commenting about her agrophobia due 2 Utubes new "ur subscriptions become ur friendz" and come to a conclusion... I believe that people are so jealous of her beauty, natural or not, and her ability to sing that they cant accept someone so beautiful has a socially-inept medical condition. why? because people are putting their ignorant preconceptions on jemma of how a person of her beauty/ talent "should" behave. now excuse me but.. who r u 2 do that?
Hi Honey. I was homebound for 8 months and know exactly how you feel. I tried all avenues of therapies- which were just crap as i couldnt deal with the physical feelings. Can i ask if you have tried medication- i suffered for 10years because i wouldnt take anythink- however now i take 20mg of citolopram and i feel a different person. x
Hey you sound really cute with your english accent. Do you change your hairs color from video to videos? I love your hairs on the video " love the way you lie".
If you aren't comfortable answering these questions on comments feel free to send me a message.
Is it the open spaces you fear? how do you feel when you look outside your window? Do you get anxiety attacks when you think about going outside? Or is it fearing the attacks and certain places make you uneasy? I have never heard of this disorder before so the "raising awareness" is sure working. I googled the disorder& read alot and have learned that it is situational to each person. thnx 4 reading.
plus thinks like dreaking tea (melissa camomila etc) helps a lot too. Sorry for my bad english its not my first language. you are talented girl, and should enjoy life more, dont be afraid of people and even more important dont think you will have a panick atack just by stading next to people, we all are in this world for a reason, look at all of us everyone with problems, just observe what people are doing, world is home. take care jemma and keep uploading videos :)
you go to therapy right? i already had panic atacks and im suffering from anxiety disorder now,i know the feeling tho my reason is not peoplem it hypochondria im always thinking that im going to have a heart atack. you can beat that girl, just write down everytime you having one, the feeling the bad thinking, and next to it write a positive solution. your mind can be train so everytime you start to thing bad you can bring up the good thinking, its an habit
@Chicley I have had every possible therapy you could think of over the years in my HOME i am not able to GO to therapy! I have severe agoraphobia,im COMPLETELY 100% housebound and have been for 3 years now, over the years in my home i have seen drs, gateway workers, psychiatrists, cognitive behavioral therapy, EFT, NLP, hypnotherapy, past regression therapy, generalized therapy, specialists in agoraphobia, specialist methods, homeopathy, breathing techniques...
@jemmahixon Wow. NLP is actually fascinating. What did they do for that for you? That's like the only thing in there that I haven't tried, but it sounds so interesting. I don't totally know how it works though.
So, even though it's disgusting uncomfortable and a little washy-- has anyone ever tried exposure therapy? I've done exposure therapy for only a couple things after it got to that point where everything else was exhausted. It was horrid- but it helped. Sometimes it may be the only way.
@Chicley ...i even listen to hypnotherapy tapes every night before i go to bed, you name it i have tried it. No therapy has helped me and i have seen some of the top therapists in the UK not just general therapists. Unfortunately drinking camomile tea is NOT in the slightest bit of help to me, i have had this for 14 years! I am past the point of being soothed by tea... and yes i have tried it for a long period of time it did not help me at all.
@Chicley My agoraphobia has developed over the years and got worse and worse, i have many disorders as well as my agoraphobia including depression, body dysmorphic disorder, generalized anxiety, health anxiety and social phobia. Ive been housebound for 3 years, even though i dont go out i still suffer the symptoms of my disorders daily in my own home I have multiple severe panic attacks every day in my home...
@Chicley and my panic attacks are not triggered any more like most peoples are,as they have become too serious they no longer need a trigger, also they arent just triggered by people.Therapy and other techniques may help some people but i have tried all of it seen numerous top therapists at home,i have studied the subconscious brain in great detail,I have a large knowledge of my disorders yet it doesnt help my recovery.Im the only person who can conquer this no tea,no amount of therapy x
@Chicley I know your comments were being nice and im sure Jemma does too, its nice to see more support, but saying do you go to therapy is a ridiculous thing to say to someone with agoraphobia who has been housebound for 3 years. Perhaps you didnt mean to say it like that, but shes completely housebound she cant go anywhere.
I don't suffer from this issue, but I do know that it is a very real disorder, and have known people who dealt with it in their own lives and I know how painful it is for them. Some of these hateful comments that people leave you are just ridiculous to me, and I would love for those people who question your truthfulness to have to live even one day in your shoes maybe then they would have even an ounce of empathy for things that people deal with that they don't understand. Stay Strong Jemma.
@jadepascoletti I can't during my day to day life, i could never ring for a takeaway or anything like that nor do i pick up he phone the only time in day to day life where i do talk on the phone is for drs appointments as i cant get to the dr, my mother still has to ring the surgery for me book the telephone appointment and then il speak to the dr once she has done that...
@jadepascoletti however during this period back in April/May it was asked of me to do a few telephone interviews, yes it was incredibly hard, they had to be planned down to the very minute they called my home, but as i said i want to get over certain aspects of my phobia and help others and make more people aware of agoraphobia,to do so i agreed to do some interviews but by no means think this was easy for me!
@jadepascoletti I had multiple panic attacks from the moment the interviews were booked! Being agoraphobic is far from easy, talking on the phone is stupidly hard for me and i do not do it unless its for drs or in this case to raise awareness of agoraphobia as its something i really want to do to try to stop the hoards of abuse and ignorance sufferers have to face daily even if it means i have to have more panic attacks than usual just to do the interview!
@83hawkes You sound proud to insult a whole nation of people. I don't really like her and part of me doesn't believe it either but I hate the idea of you judging us from this one person on the internet who doesn't represent the British public at all.
@AmorDelFriki You dont believe me? What is wrong with people how utterly dare you this isnt a case of having to prove myself, have you any idea what its like to suffer with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks from the age of 6, not being able to lead a normal life, being housebound with severe agoraphobia for 3 years now, living in fear every day, being in a constant state of anxiety, having every therapy available at home for agoraphobia yet nothing working?
@AmorDelFriki Not being able to be left at home on your own, not being able to even have friends over in my home anymore as im far too anxious. Have you got any idea what that feels like, to multiple severe panic attacks a day. Not being able to go and enjoy life, go to the drs if you need to, not being able to go to uni or even go for a walk, seeing your family so upset because they feel so helpless and want their daughter/loved one back! I cant even open my front door!
@AmorDelFriki I have been completely housebound for 3 years since i was just 18 years old, ive missed out on any kind of normal childhood/teenage life and even now adult life. You sit there and judge me, you have NO IDEA the hell i live daily, struggling to just get through each day. It is ignorance like this that i and other sufferers have to face every day! That is the reason i did this interview to try to raise awareness and stop ignorance like this. How dare you!
@jemmahixon Sorry, but not for my comment - for this misunderstanding. I'm sorry also if I can't say I believe you 100% - I've only seen 3 of your videos and don't really know much about you or your condition. My comment was telling someone off for being mean to people. The subject wasn't you, nor was it aimed at or sent to hurt your feelings. I don't sit here and judge you. I watched a video, read a mean comment, and told them off. So sorry but, don't jump to conclusions.
@AmorDelFriki She didnt jump to any conclusions you were mean and judgemental towards her in the comment you left "I don't really like her and part of me doesn't believe it either" you don't even know her so you cant dislike her! Also you just said to someone "I didn't speak about her health" you did clear as day when saying part of you doesn't believe her. No one has jumped to conclusions you straight out judged the girl and her health there is no denying it! We can all see the comment!
@dropbeatzz When I said I don't like her, I meant more her youtube self as in her videos - the style of video she does doesn't appeal to me but someone told me to watch her. I haven't judged her illness - I repeat I don't know her, I have no information about her or her illness, it isn't that I don't believe her at all - I'm just a person that isn't really 100% about most things. If I have reasons to be untrusting, that's my own problem.
@dropbeatzz Also, I wasn't mean or judgemental TOWARDS her because, I repeat again, the comment wasn't aimed or targeted at her. It was aimed at someone who I thought was being mean and was being a lot nastier than me. I repect Jemma because even though she has an illness - she had the courage to open herself up to the internet where the harshest of critics sit down all day judging people without knowing them. I shouldn't have to make a definite decision if I know nothing about her.
@AmorDelFriki You should be ashamed of yourself for writing that repulsive comment, not only Jemma has to read it but her family and friends will probably see it to. This girl has had panic attacks and anxiety since she was 6 years old do you have any idea how that feels? Shes been housebound with agoraphobia for 3 years, and yes i know her. So how dare you sit there and judge her and say you dont believe her, people like you disgust me, you are so damn ignorant, this girl is an inspiration!
@AmorDelFriki Yet you sit there completely ignorant and clueless and judge her as if she doesnt have enough to deal with without idiots leaving comments like yours! Think before you speak, and i suggest you apologize before more of her friends or family see this disgusting comment
@AmorDelFriki Yeah because agoraphobia is so cool, someone would want to lie about it. Get a life you low life.Jemma suffers daily, every single day she lives in fear shes a young girl with a terrible illness and you think you have the right to site there and judge her.Learn not to judge people you have made yourself look absolutely disgusting, mental illnesses are very serious for you to say that to her is horrible.Youre so ignorant i doubt you have any idea what this girl goes through every day!
@AmorDelFriki You are so clueless, dont speak about other peoples health if you have no idea! Do you have any idea what its like to see a friend wither away in front of your eyes due to a mental illness, not even being able to see her friends any more because shes too anxious to have them in her home anymore. Shes had every therapy possible, shes tried desperately to get better, but it controls her, eats away at her, grows worse, shes been housebound for 3 years.I hope you feel good about yourself!
@xiluvgagax I hate to break it to you, but I wasn't being ignorant. There are people being extremely mean to her on here, and i disagree with her. I don't know her personally so I can't say that I know all the facts and so definitely 100% believe her. You are just as clueless as me if you are judging my opinions based on every nasty comment sent by OTHER people and when you don't know my full opinion. I didn't speak about her health and I've formed a short opinion based on 3 videos.
You might not be free because of your illness, but I truly believe that you are going to gain a big reward at the end. not here but in Heaven because of your patience and the suffering you have been through. When we are sick (Muslims) we read Quran (our holy book) words from God that not human can put such words together, it gives us hope and shows us that this world is only temporary and in heaven is the eternal life, may God grant you peace, happiness and may you be part of heaven in the end.
I am sure it is hard on you, something I can't nor will ever know how it feels like to be in your shoes, however my beautiful have faith in God, everything, everything God does is for a reason, some reasons are beyond human understanding, we can't question them, we let it be and accept it, you know why? because life is too short Jemma, and it flies so quickly, I don't want you to regret anything, be happy, some people suffer worse cases. God gave you a beautiful voice, soul, heart and face.
You are beautiful the way you are Jemma, as a Muslim, when God puts us in suffering whether its through a situation or illness we are adviced and taught that the only way to handle things is to be patient, Jemma my dear, do not allow anyone or anything to hurt your feelings, not even these silly useless comments after all you have nothing to prove to anyone, your loved ones know you, your fans appreciate you and God knows how you feel.
Jemma,i have talked to u in the past about your illness and have commented on alot of your music!your truely amazing and very talented! i hope this new year!u will be able to overcome your fears and get the help you need!God bless u....;-) xo akasha
CBT is shit, it just teaches you common sense, which non-retards will already know. But it is hard to believe you are not confident (which you have said yourself) when you have just made a calendar of yourself wearing close to nothing not counting the amount of videos you have of you singing, staring into the camera doing the whole 'sexy' thing girls always try to do on singing videos.
uuuuuuggghhhhh people piss me off that are so ignorant towards others illnesses. Jemma stay strong girl and I pray people will learn tolarance and respect towards others. How would anyone feel being forced into an unbarable and uncomfortable situatution jjjeeeezzzz grow up MilaNoxoko1 Hugz Jemma From Tracy
So her parents support her omg its not a crime its called love, family something any parent would do if needed I do know if she was my daughter I would do the same. Would you turn your child away just cuz of her age NO and if so them maybe you should never have kids. Do you not think her family has done everything they could to change this for her??? I believe so cuz no person would choose to be house bound almost 3 years on purpose. (Con't)
MilaNoxoko1-what the hell does living in a nice house have to do with anything???? OMG its her family home you know a place you live in growing up. She has a true illness and is no different from any other kind of illness out there. (Con't)
I think instead of forcing herself into reality, she escapes into her fairy world (Listen to her musik, look at her make up). And what you can see of her home.. it's far to "nice", so she doesn't want to go outside.
@MilaNoxoko1 I think you just don't have the knowledge about the disease. Want to get out is not enough .2 year I have a sense of nausea in transport,2 months I have this feeling in supermarkets,banks,post... I know that becomes worse and don't want to in a couple of months this feeling came to me on the street.I know how hard not to think about it and calm down.
@MilaNoxoko1 I understand when you run to the door with a feeling of nausea, agitation, dizziness. I can only guess that feels Jemma. You seriously think that a young, beautiful, talented, purposeful girl with a lot of proposals to experience pleasure from the location of the house?2 years not to leave the house a whim?
No offense, but that's a luxury disease! If she wouldn't have food or a home, she would be forced to go out and work. Someone shoud put her out. First she would be scared... but than she would assimilate. This disease probably didn't exist in earlier times.
@MilaNoxoko1 A luxury illness!?! How dare you, you're an ill educated ignorant waste of space. You clearly know NOTHING about agoraphobia, she doesnt just sit in her home and its all great, she suffers daily, she has severe panic attacks daily, she lives in fear shes constantly anxious constantly living a hell, how do i know because i have seen her suffer. People like you disgust me, luxury disease, yea because apparently a mental illness isnt real because you cant physically see it silly me!
@MilaNoxoko1 And look as usual it all comes down to money...money or a nice home has nothing to do with an illness, you wouldnt say that to someone with a physical illness, just because its a mental illness you think you can play that card. She doesnt take anyones money she has her own business and buys her items online, not through choice but because she has to.Dont talk about things you know nothing about, youre only making yourself look like a complete and utter disgrace! You should be ashamed
@dropbeatzz Are you taking the piss? How is she going through agony she wakes up in her bed not outside were apparently thats when the "agony" starts. Seriously you over obsessive nutjobs are fucking ludicrous. The person who you replied to is right she has a good life, people with social phobia and anxiety have to go out and get jobs you're trying to defend something you know fuck all about
@MilaNoxoko1 This girl has spent her childhood in therapy, not been able to lead a normal life,do all the things that normal girls experience growing up,she cant go for walks, go to uni,she cant have her friends over anymore because shes too anxious to have people in her home, she cant perform on stage or do things she loves, she cant go on a date, learn how to drive do the things you do when you are 20,she cant go to the drs if shes in pain, she cant wake up fear free like you!
@MilaNoxoko1 Instead she wakes up each day to a day of agonising torment, fear and panic attacks. She has to try to get through each day, mental illnesses are a living hell! Yeah its a god damn luxury isnt it! You are obviously very very ignorant and know nothing about the illness, yet you sit there and type away as if you know what you are talking about! You wouldn't last a day in Jemma's shoes so how dare you say such things
@MilaNoxoko1 you are disgusting to think that way. Mental illness can't just be cured by forcing her out, exposing her to her fears. That would crush her. Why would you want her home to not be nice?! Her home is the only place she can be at! she is very unfortunate to be unable to go out of her home, she is basically trapped, and though she wants to get out, it's a struggle and it's certainly NOT luxurious!
@83hawkes This ISNT something that will just miraculously be cured by therapy so how dare anyone suggest a record deal would cure my agoraphobia. I have been offered deals which i cant take and dont even want to take thank you, my health comes first dont judge me you dont know anything about me, my morals, illness, daily life or beliefs. And i am NOT a sob story, this isnt a "story" this is my life!
Hi hunny. I have this condition also, i would just like to ask you do you have any "logical" reasons for the triggers.. like for example mine would be i am paranoid of being judged about my physical appearance and fear of bumping into or seeing old high school bullies all the time.. do you have similar reasons?
@jemmahixon Why all this Jemma?)Prove the rightness or errors are not the best idea. Such people get pleasure from your answers, from what made you angry. The nerve cells of the very long restored)
@83hawkes i have had every therapy possible for agoraphobia at home before drs, gateway workers, been through the whole mental health system, EFT, NLP, cognitive behavioural therapy, hypnotherapy, psychiatrists, specialists in agoraphobia, specialist methods, i even listen to hypnotherapy tapes every night hoping ill wake up normal. I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks and anxiety since i was 6 and been completely housebound for nearly 3 years.
@83hawkes I have nothing to prove to people who mock or question my illness, but i really suggest in future you learn not to judge people because you have no idea how ignorant your comment was and how hurtful it could be not only to me but my family. You obviously know very little about me, as i have turned down documentaries on bbc three about me, record deals, interviews you name it, dont think you know me by an interview i am not your average fame hungry girl! I just like to sing
@83hawkes of an illness that is so very misunderstood as you have so ignorantly displayed here in your horrible comment. I have spent my life seeing therapists in my home, not being able to lead a normal life. I cant visit my loved ones when they are in hospital, i cant go to uni, i cant go for a walk, i cant have fun and be normal every day i live the hell that is agoraphobia. My family have to read these comments think before you speak, i am so deeply offended
@83hawkes I am disgusted by this comment, i have suffered with this since i was 6 years old, to have someone say such disgusting things is ludicrous, do you know what its like to suffer every single day of your life, to live in fear and not be able to control your own mind or step out of your front door. And for the record i have had many deal offers which i have TURNED DOWN,i AM NOT fame hungry my health has and will always come first. Not everyone wants fame i wanted to raise awareness
totally inspiring, I im in excactly the same situation, had it since i was about 6 and I'm a musician too, I do it all from home but it's tough! it's nice to know from you that it is possible to get known, keep up the good work, regardless of what happens x
your so gawjus, i use to have anxiety attacks but after a year with it i finally just told myself i have to over it or ill ruien my life, thank god mine isnt as bad as yours
@AndyTheDevil It is my own song which i wrote the lyrics and melody to, please check out my new video on my page as its now available to download on itunes :) x
wow Your Voice Is Amazing Jemma.. I Have A Friend Who Suffers From Agoraphobia its a difficult thing to deal with. i hope u get through it and make it onto the big stages i know we all would love to see you performing live ... i know i would definately be buying tickets to your shows! you have an amazing voice and you are absoluitly beautifull your eyes are gorgeous ! Keep Safe and keep making the videos :) We All Love You !! xx
ignore what people say! doesnt matter if you wear to much or little makeup, you are on here to do what you love & enjoy, thats singing everybody should be greatful that you are willing to let us hear you, everybody who comments on stupid things like makeup they should put there video's up singing and let us judge on there appearance..hope one day jemma you might be able to over come your disorder and be able to leave the house, goodlook.. thumbs up to share the love for jemma xx
Hi Jemma, I really hope you can overcome this terrible disorder, I am also in CBT for agoraphobia. Unfortunately there are many housebound agoraphobics who CANNOT get help, psychs and therapists won't visit their home. I don't know if it is different in the UK but it is very hard to get one to visit you in the USA. Best of luck with your recovery, I hope you can update us on your progress.
Like OMG you need to stop wearing all that damn makeup. Of course I'm just kidding. Who cares if she wears make-up? We're here for her voice, not her face. And as for her agoraphobia, don't judge her unless you KNOW what she's going through. That is all <3
@slorapwu what is your problem u jerk she has a disorder and the make up reallllly u guys need to stops being jerks Peole need to read the responds she has made befor u say mean things about her and that is gust comine sens oh and i am 11 and even i now that, people said that she weres to much make up if it isn't nice then shut up dont be mean and Jemma keep up the good work :)
you shud of shut up about the make up. its her choice and shes doin really well! u wudnt go up to beyonce nd tell her she wears to much so why do it to a girl whos changin her life.. you guys are disgustin you act like flipin children! this is comin from a 14 year old girl... yeah thts wot i tohught!
ur awesome, y are ppl going on about your makeup?? listen to her voice ppl if its makeup you want y you listening to music vids, grow up, keep the vids comen Jemma
just want to say to those that are commenting about the make-up... unless you're blind you can tell shes not wearing anything but eye make-up. just look at the tones on her face compared to her neck... thats natural.
I dont get why people are on about makeup she's an amazing singer and shes really pretty anyway! I hope you can get over your disorder and pursue a career :)
i feel sorry about yr disorder. But you really need to listen us. You make up is really too much in many video . And i am not sure did you edit the color of the videos or not. The color is just not natural. If you can make a video without no make up. That will be really great! you looks reallllllllly unique ! Trust us.
@zingching10 As i said in this video i am wearing NO MAKEUP, it is not edited, this interview went on air live on tv a few months ago you can see it on the BBC website. I have mascara on thats it. I dont need to listen to others about the way i look, as i hardly wear makeup and if i do i only wear eye makeup. Im here to SING not to be ridiculed daily and judged on my appearance. I already have confidence issues i havent left my home in over 2 years, i dont need to be mocked about the way i look.
@zingching10 People dress and style themselves they way they do for themselves, not other people. I wouldnt dream of telling someone else or even you to dress a different way or do their hair differently, because it is their own individual style and taste and i have no right to. Everyone is different. No one should have to be ridiculed... especially falsely, i dont tend to wear makeup im mixed race yet people judge me incorrectly, no one would say such things to people who were blatantly indian!
@zingching10 who cares, even if she had buck teeth and a shaved head i'd still subscribe, good voices deserve good followers... :) i like you jemma, sometimes home is the safest place... and i don't care if you have too much make up on, i wear none myself, at all ... and people tell me to put it on, but its my choice and i dont care... lol :0 keep up the good work.. p.s. can you cover wake me when september ends?? if you haven't already... i'd love to hear you sing that .. :)
@MrAmericanify No it certainly isnt a disease, its a disorder, agoraphobia usually stema from anxiety disorders. I have generalised anxiety, social phobia, health anxiety, depression, body dysmorphic disorder which is a whole different disorder all together, and obviously the agoraphobia. A lot of people just dont understand things such as agoraphobia, but sadly unless they have been through it or are going through it they could never understand what it feels like to live with agoraphobia x
@PieTastesGood92 I have said many times i am completely housebound and have been for over 2 years. I have to have therapy at home. Therapists have to come to my home as i can not leave my home.
@jemmahixon Heyyyy I only found you today so I didn't actually know much about your conditon, sorry ><. I hope that you can leave the house soon, it must be horrible, I do Psychology and I learn about stuff like that :) Whereabouts in London are you from?
@junjouBLlover When you do live tv interviews like this, you can't see the studio, I was sat in my dining room live with a camera pointing straight at me a camera man and an ear piece, I had to stare straight into the centre of the camera. Its rather odd and probably the most nerve racking type of interview because its nice to be able to see your interviewers. And yes there is generally a slight lag between the studio and someone being interviewed away from the studio as expected.
@namhero1810 I'm not hiding anything i have a side fringe just like thousands of other people do! Go to my facebook and you can see plenty of pictures of my eyes! Dear me the things people say! .facebook.com/pages/Jemma-Pixie-Hixon/120888317954757
Okay, I have read numerous comments on your videos of how you wear too much make up and that's the reason why people say you're pretty. BUT HEY PEOPLE, Jemma is not wearing so much 'make up' in this video and she is STILL FRICKEN GORGEOUS - WITH OR WITHOUT MAKE UP. So all of you negative, pessimistic folks, SHUT UP. Thanks. =)
I hope your condition eases as you get older but CBT is the way forward. You need to WORK at it and work hard everyday-its a bit like losing weight if you're massively overweight-the diet, exercise and commitment required isn't easy and it's not very enjoyable but it is possible. Make the decision to do it, get the right info, work on it everyday, get your progress checked. Whatever you do don't flit around trying diff. techniques sayin its not working unless you've done it for at least 6 months
Hi i know this is a really long shot but have you thought about a hypnotherapist because my fired suffered from agoraphobia for 5 years and her therapy was working sort of but she tried hypnotherapy and has made alot of progress its not quite gone yet not sure if it ever goes but it has made alot of difference. Hope your condition gets better x
@travis93PSN Hi there over the years i have probably had therapy possible for agoraphobia from Hypnotherapy, to EFT, NLP, DRS, Gateway Workers, been through the whole mental health system, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Specialist methods, Homeopathy, Bach Rescue Remedies,i listen to hypnotherapy tapes every night, ive read books, you name it i have done it unfortunately nothing has worked. You can have all the therapy in the world but only the individual can fix it x
I feel for you. I really do. I haven't had it since I was real little like you have but I have been fully housebound for 5 years. Mine started when I was 15 when I had my first panic attack. It's terrible. I speak about my experiences on my other account (TaintedBeautifully). Just know you're not alone. Your voice is beautiful btw! :)
@Lois14x Don't believe everything you read etc :) Agoraphobia is not something that will just disappear in 3 moths, it could take forever, it could never happen. It is something i have suffered with since i was 6, it wont just be gone wit a bit of therapy, ive had therapy since i was little and none of it worked. I still haven't been able to leave my home and i'm at exactly the same stage as i was and have been for the past 2 years. But maybe one day :) x
Hi Jemma, my brother introduced me to your videos. I'm a prisoner in my bedroom too. My local mental health clinic got me onto CBT (I swear they think CBT solves everything lol) and it is helpful but you have to push yourself. Two years ago I would leave my house a few times a year but these days I find the courage to go out every few weeks. It does get better :) I wish you all the success in the world with your singing career and with overcoming your phobia <3 xoxo
luv u Jemma!! i've been following u for more than a year now...watching ur videos ..they r grt ..simply awsome...well ur voice its so soothing!! i can understand the phase ur going through right now..but i m no one to judge in thiis matter...so all the very best for ur future...ur truly beautiful ..luv u!!

Hi there, my comment did not suggest a cure. My point is that people who develop this condition most often are totally unaware of what is going on with them and probably don't use it to manifest themselves psychologically. There is a clear connection to certain potentially dangerous situations and objects in phobias that suggests genetic activity. The logical mind and its abilities are not otherwise affected and are fully functional. Rather they get bypassed by genetics.
@rawstarmusic That's the problem: your comments do not suggest anything other than to debate the nature versus nurture argument because of something that you read that you've taken for fact. You make phobias sound like some kind of birth defect that's untreatable. Genetics may play a role but if that's all you can write what are you really offering? What I wrote forJemma is not a generalization for people with a phobic condition. If she finds it helpful to overcome her problem more power to her.
@AlexDB6957 I do think that the open debate can be useful. The global brain can be an advantage when developing a best functional formula. You are absolutely right I am indeed handing her the facts as my main approach. I believe in her abilities to take on projects and be very successful and I have proof to show it. I fully acknowledge that your point regarding identification or identity is relevant. The interview clearly tells of emotions while singing. Logic - emotions - genetic as a unit.

I have agoraphobia, too. I developed it 3 years ago. I quit college because of it. Now, I can leave the house but only when I'm with my mom. I also have talent in singing but anxiety keeps me from showing it. I admire you because you didn't let your talent be affected by your condition.
msacc19 1 month ago
@msacc19 Im sorry to hear that, this may sound odd, but remember you are very lucky to still be able to go out even if its with your mother, i would give anything to be able to go out who ever it was with, never stop going out as believe me you do not want to end up like me completely housebound for for 3 years not able to even step out of my front door, having multiple severe panic attacks daily in my own home and constantly living in fear and a state of anxiety its hell.
jemmahixon 1 month ago
@jemmahixon Thank you for replying, it means a lot to me. :) Yeah, somehow I feel lucky that I can still go out even if it's always w/ my mom but there are just times when I really feel like hopeless and alone specially that I live in a country(asian) where these kinds of condition isn't as well known and supported. I'm sorry, it must be really hard for you dealing with panic attacks since you were 6 years old. Be strong too, I know we can do this. ;) And more success to you! ♥
msacc19 1 month ago
@msacc19 I have been housebound for 3 years but my panic attacks and anxiety started when i was just 6 years old and developed into agoraphobia, i missed out on a normal childhood spending time in therapy, being anxious, not being able to go to parties or shopping with friends and other normal things girls do growing up. So this is something I have been dealing with for about 15 years. Be strong, seeing as you are able to go out even with your mother...
jemmahixon 1 month ago

Can i ask if you have tried medication- i suffered for 10years because i wouldnt take anythink- however now i take 20mg of citolopram and i feel a different person. x

Chicley 2 months ago
you go to therapy right? i already had panic atacks and im suffering from anxiety disorder now,i know the feeling tho my reason is not peoplem it hypochondria im always thinking that im going to have a heart atack. you can beat that girl, just write down everytime you having one, the feeling the bad thinking, and next to it write a positive solution. your mind can be train so everytime you start to thing bad you can bring up the good thinking, its an habit
Chicley 2 months ago
@Chicley I have had every possible therapy you could think of over the years in my HOME i am not able to GO to therapy! I have severe agoraphobia,im COMPLETELY 100% housebound and have been for 3 years now, over the years in my home i have seen drs, gateway workers, psychiatrists, cognitive behavioral therapy, EFT, NLP, hypnotherapy, past regression therapy, generalized therapy, specialists in agoraphobia, specialist methods, homeopathy, breathing techniques...
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@jemmahixon Wow. NLP is actually fascinating. What did they do for that for you? That's like the only thing in there that I haven't tried, but it sounds so interesting. I don't totally know how it works though.
So, even though it's disgusting uncomfortable and a little washy-- has anyone ever tried exposure therapy? I've done exposure therapy for only a couple things after it got to that point where everything else was exhausted. It was horrid- but it helped. Sometimes it may be the only way.
xxxtrisxxx 1 month ago
@Chicley ...i even listen to hypnotherapy tapes every night before i go to bed, you name it i have tried it. No therapy has helped me and i have seen some of the top therapists in the UK not just general therapists. Unfortunately drinking camomile tea is NOT in the slightest bit of help to me, i have had this for 14 years! I am past the point of being soothed by tea... and yes i have tried it for a long period of time it did not help me at all.
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@Chicley My agoraphobia has developed over the years and got worse and worse, i have many disorders as well as my agoraphobia including depression, body dysmorphic disorder, generalized anxiety, health anxiety and social phobia. Ive been housebound for 3 years, even though i dont go out i still suffer the symptoms of my disorders daily in my own home I have multiple severe panic attacks every day in my home...
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@Chicley and my panic attacks are not triggered any more like most peoples are,as they have become too serious they no longer need a trigger, also they arent just triggered by people.Therapy and other techniques may help some people but i have tried all of it seen numerous top therapists at home,i have studied the subconscious brain in great detail,I have a large knowledge of my disorders yet it doesnt help my recovery.Im the only person who can conquer this no tea,no amount of therapy x
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@Chicley I know your comments were being nice and im sure Jemma does too, its nice to see more support, but saying do you go to therapy is a ridiculous thing to say to someone with agoraphobia who has been housebound for 3 years. Perhaps you didnt mean to say it like that, but shes completely housebound she cant go anywhere.
dropbeatzz 2 months ago
I don't suffer from this issue, but I do know that it is a very real disorder, and have known people who dealt with it in their own lives and I know how painful it is for them. Some of these hateful comments that people leave you are just ridiculous to me, and I would love for those people who question your truthfulness to have to live even one day in your shoes maybe then they would have even an ounce of empathy for things that people deal with that they don't understand. Stay Strong Jemma.

I thought you couldn't talk on the phone?
jadepascoletti 2 months ago
@jadepascoletti I can't during my day to day life, i could never ring for a takeaway or anything like that nor do i pick up he phone the only time in day to day life where i do talk on the phone is for drs appointments as i cant get to the dr, my mother still has to ring the surgery for me book the telephone appointment and then il speak to the dr once she has done that...
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@jadepascoletti however during this period back in April/May it was asked of me to do a few telephone interviews, yes it was incredibly hard, they had to be planned down to the very minute they called my home, but as i said i want to get over certain aspects of my phobia and help others and make more people aware of agoraphobia,to do so i agreed to do some interviews but by no means think this was easy for me!
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@jadepascoletti I had multiple panic attacks from the moment the interviews were booked! Being agoraphobic is far from easy, talking on the phone is stupidly hard for me and i do not do it unless its for drs or in this case to raise awareness of agoraphobia as its something i really want to do to try to stop the hoards of abuse and ignorance sufferers have to face daily even if it means i have to have more panic attacks than usual just to do the interview!
jemmahixon 2 months ago 2
@83hawkes You sound proud to insult a whole nation of people. I don't really like her and part of me doesn't believe it either but I hate the idea of you judging us from this one person on the internet who doesn't represent the British public at all.
AmorDelFriki 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki You dont believe me? What is wrong with people how utterly dare you this isnt a case of having to prove myself, have you any idea what its like to suffer with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks from the age of 6, not being able to lead a normal life, being housebound with severe agoraphobia for 3 years now, living in fear every day, being in a constant state of anxiety, having every therapy available at home for agoraphobia yet nothing working?
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki Not being able to be left at home on your own, not being able to even have friends over in my home anymore as im far too anxious. Have you got any idea what that feels like, to multiple severe panic attacks a day. Not being able to go and enjoy life, go to the drs if you need to, not being able to go to uni or even go for a walk, seeing your family so upset because they feel so helpless and want their daughter/loved one back! I cant even open my front door!
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki I have been completely housebound for 3 years since i was just 18 years old, ive missed out on any kind of normal childhood/teenage life and even now adult life. You sit there and judge me, you have NO IDEA the hell i live daily, struggling to just get through each day. It is ignorance like this that i and other sufferers have to face every day! That is the reason i did this interview to try to raise awareness and stop ignorance like this. How dare you!
jemmahixon 2 months ago
@jemmahixon Sorry, but not for my comment - for this misunderstanding. I'm sorry also if I can't say I believe you 100% - I've only seen 3 of your videos and don't really know much about you or your condition. My comment was telling someone off for being mean to people. The subject wasn't you, nor was it aimed at or sent to hurt your feelings. I don't sit here and judge you. I watched a video, read a mean comment, and told them off. So sorry but, don't jump to conclusions.
AmorDelFriki 1 month ago
@AmorDelFriki She didnt jump to any conclusions you were mean and judgemental towards her in the comment you left "I don't really like her and part of me doesn't believe it either" you don't even know her so you cant dislike her! Also you just said to someone "I didn't speak about her health" you did clear as day when saying part of you doesn't believe her. No one has jumped to conclusions you straight out judged the girl and her health there is no denying it! We can all see the comment!
dropbeatzz 1 month ago
@dropbeatzz When I said I don't like her, I meant more her youtube self as in her videos - the style of video she does doesn't appeal to me but someone told me to watch her. I haven't judged her illness - I repeat I don't know her, I have no information about her or her illness, it isn't that I don't believe her at all - I'm just a person that isn't really 100% about most things. If I have reasons to be untrusting, that's my own problem.
AmorDelFriki 1 month ago
@dropbeatzz Also, I wasn't mean or judgemental TOWARDS her because, I repeat again, the comment wasn't aimed or targeted at her. It was aimed at someone who I thought was being mean and was being a lot nastier than me. I repect Jemma because even though she has an illness - she had the courage to open herself up to the internet where the harshest of critics sit down all day judging people without knowing them. I shouldn't have to make a definite decision if I know nothing about her.
AmorDelFriki 1 month ago
@AmorDelFriki You should be ashamed of yourself for writing that repulsive comment, not only Jemma has to read it but her family and friends will probably see it to. This girl has had panic attacks and anxiety since she was 6 years old do you have any idea how that feels? Shes been housebound with agoraphobia for 3 years, and yes i know her. So how dare you sit there and judge her and say you dont believe her, people like you disgust me, you are so damn ignorant, this girl is an inspiration!
dropbeatzz 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki Yet you sit there completely ignorant and clueless and judge her as if she doesnt have enough to deal with without idiots leaving comments like yours! Think before you speak, and i suggest you apologize before more of her friends or family see this disgusting comment
dropbeatzz 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki Yeah because agoraphobia is so cool, someone would want to lie about it. Get a life you low life.Jemma suffers daily, every single day she lives in fear shes a young girl with a terrible illness and you think you have the right to site there and judge her.Learn not to judge people you have made yourself look absolutely disgusting, mental illnesses are very serious for you to say that to her is horrible.Youre so ignorant i doubt you have any idea what this girl goes through every day!
emmyjaye1 2 months ago
@AmorDelFriki You are so clueless, dont speak about other peoples health if you have no idea! Do you have any idea what its like to see a friend wither away in front of your eyes due to a mental illness, not even being able to see her friends any more because shes too anxious to have them in her home anymore. Shes had every therapy possible, shes tried desperately to get better, but it controls her, eats away at her, grows worse, shes been housebound for 3 years.I hope you feel good about yourself!
xiluvgagax 2 months ago

People like you disgust me, luxury disease, yea because apparently a mental illness isnt real because you cant physically see it silly me!
dropbeatzz 2 months ago
@MilaNoxoko1 And look as usual it all comes down to money...money or a nice home has nothing to do with an illness, you wouldnt say that to someone with a physical illness, just because its a mental illness you think you can play that card. She doesnt take anyones money she has her own business and buys her items online, not through choice but because she has to.Dont talk about things you know nothing about, youre only making yourself look like a complete and utter disgrace! You wouldn't last a day in Jemma's shoes so how dare you say such things
dropbeatzz 2 months ago
@MilaNoxoko1 you are disgusting to think that way. Mental illness can't just be cured by forcing her out, exposing her to her fears. That would crush her. Why would you want her home to not be nice?! Her home is the only place she can be at! she is very unfortunate to be unable to go out of her home, she is basically trapped, and though she wants to get out, it's a struggle and it's certainly NOT luxurious!
TheElizabeth12395 2 months ago
@83hawkes This ISNT something that will just miraculously be cured by therapy so how dare anyone suggest a record deal would cure my agoraphobia. ignore what people say! doesnt matter if you wear to much or little makeup, you are on here to do what you love & enjoy, thats singing everybody should be greatful that you are willing to let us hear you, everybody who comments on stupid things like makeup they should put there video's up singing and let us judge on there appearance..hope one day jemma you might be able to over come your disorder and be able to leave the house, goodlook.. thumbs up to share the love for jemma xx
MrGilbertobaggio 4 months ago

That is all <3
dajiaoma77777 4 months ago
@slorapwu what is your problem u jerk she has a disorder and the make up reallllly u guys need to stops being jerks Peole need to read the responds she has made befor u say mean things about her and that is gust comine sens oh and i am 11 and even i now that, people said that she weres to much make up if it isn't nice then shut up dont be mean and Jemma keep up the good work :)

ur awesome, y are ppl going on about your makeup?? listen to her voice ppl if its makeup you want y you listening to music vids, grow up, keep the vids comen Jemma
grayso2011 4 months ago
just want to say to those that are commenting about the make-up... unless you're blind you can tell shes not wearing anything but eye make-up. just look at the tones on her face compared to her neck... thats natural.
thebrat20 4 months ago
I dont get why people are on about makeup she's an amazing singer and shes really pretty anyway! I hope you can get over your disorder and pursue a career :)
LpSp34 4 months ago
i feel sorry about yr disorder. But you really need to listen us. You make up is really too much in many video . And i am not sure did you edit the color of the videos or not. The color is just not natural. If you can make a video without no make up. That will be really great! you looks reallllllllly unique ! Trust us.
zingching10 4 months ago
@zingching10 As i said in this video i am wearing NO MAKEUP, it is not edited, this interview went on air live on tv a few months ago you can see it on the BBC website. I have mascara on thats it. I dont need to listen to others about the way i look, as i hardly wear makeup and if i do i only wear eye makeup. Im here to SING not to be ridiculed daily and judged on my appearance. I already have confidence issues i havent left my home in over 2 years, i dont need to be mocked about the way i look.
jemmahixon 4 months ago 5
@zingching10 People dress and style themselves they way they do for themselves, not other people. I wouldnt dream of telling someone else or even you to dress a different way or do their hair differently, because it is their own individual style and taste and i have no right to. Everyone is different. No one should have to be ridiculed... especially falsely, i dont tend to wear makeup im mixed race yet people judge me incorrectly, no one would say such things to people who were blatantly indian!
jemmahixon 4 months ago 4

PieTastesGood92 5 months ago
@PieTastesGood92 I have said many times i am completely housebound and have been for over 2 years. I have to have therapy at home. Therapists have to come to my home as i can not leave my home.

junjouBLlover 5 months ago
@junjouBLlover When you do live tv interviews like this, you can't see the studio, I was sat in my dining room live with a camera pointing straight at me a camera man and an ear piece, I had to stare straight into the centre of the camera. Its rather odd and probably the most nerve racking type of interview because its nice to be able to see your interviewers. And yes there is generally a slight lag between the studio and someone being interviewed away from the studio as expected.

Tourswing 6 months ago

Lois14x 8 months ago

Rather they get bypassed by genetics.
rawstarmusic 9 months ago
@rawstarmusic That's the problem: your comments do not suggest anything other than to debate the nature versus nurture argument because of something that you read that you've taken for fact. You make phobias sound like some kind of birth defect that's untreatable. Genetics may play a role but if that's all you can write what are you really offering? What I wrote forJemma is not a generalization for people with a phobic condition. If she finds it helpful to overcome her problem more power to her.
AlexDB6957 9 months ago
@AlexDB6957 I do think that the open debate can be useful. The global brain can be an advantage when developing a best functional formula. You are absolutely right I am indeed handing her the facts as my main approach. I believe in her abilities to take on projects and be very successful and I have proof to show it. I fully acknowledge that your point regarding identification or identity is relevant. The interview clearly tells of emotions while singing. Logic - emotions - genetic as a unit.
