Yes I did. Every light on this truck was painted black inside to give a darker appearance. I recently have ditched these for a deep smoked set and a smoked LED brake light though.
did you paint your headlights too?? looks good all black and saves alot of money on the aftermarket appearance. nice job on the step by step vids btw, cheers man
Nice job man and great diy guide! Looks great. Can't wait to have some free time to do this. What type of LED bulb are you using for the reverse light and did you have to install a LED bulb resistor? Thanks again for this great diy.
@RUSS1AN Thanks man. They are Hyper White 3156 40LED bulbs. Bought them off ebay in 2008, cant find the 40 LED on there anymore but 40 is the max that will fit. Mine barely fit inside. Look for a 20 or 30 3156 LED bulb.
@nascarchevy24 Thanks. Its more for the Ford guys so you gotta be interested to follow up with it, but it is a good project capable on many of many other vehicles. I wanna see a 03+ Silverado with this done. Those tails are pure clear lens.
@akvortec53 Yeah, to heat up and weaken the silicon the oven does it safest. A Hairdryer is a joke, and a Heatgun will melt it. And obviously, using prying force will break the lens.
Good job Darren! Your patience payed off! Thumbs up! I think your right about the hole In the bottom of the light. It's for a strobe light on emergency vehicles.
@scotts01Z71 Thanks man, yeah thats what i'm thinking too. The tape covers a tiny little hole. Could enlarge it and put a red LED in there and splice it in to act as a side marker.
darren stop doing such creative shit, and yes i would be afraid to try it because im not that patient! so i would tape off half assed and screw everything up
@DarrenWS6 i once met a girl from Boston MA and she wouldnt stop talking about the way i talked..and im thinking "bitch the way you talk is driving me crazy please stop before i kill you!"
@yarun0 thats basically what these videos are haha, they were too long and its limited to 10min videos. I'll link a thread in description to my photo write up.
Hey man nice work to your truck. I was wondering if its the same process for the front. also did you make a DIY video for the front?

I can say I learned something new. I didn't know that you had to heat them up in the oven.

@akvortec53 lol thanks Ron. It took no longer than a suspension lift would, but it was time consuming, I had a whole day at least.
