The planet will be here long after we become extinct. It's the environment we should worry about :-)

All joke aside - what evidence is needed when the wealth of the planet is in the hands of a very few countries? Since I am running out of characters, I recommend reading Noam Chomsky's opinions about wealth, politics and media- he has a pretty good opinion about who owns what and why there is still war and poverty. You can also watch the documentary " HOME" by Yann Arthus Bertrand.

  • Oh the arrogance of it all, after the planet has been here 4 billion years and humans just a mere few hundred thousand give or take a millenium, Pete Postlewaite tells us we are all going to fry by next Tuesday! After what this beautiful blue planet has been through in that time there is absolutely nothing humans can do that mother nature hasn't done a thousand times over and worse! We are here only temporarily and will be swatted like a fly by mother nature whenever she feels like it.

  • The skeptics really have to read the IPCC reports. I'd like to see anyone provide peer reviewed proof that even just 5% of the report is wrong. the thousands of scientists who contributed to the report are not taking this like a game.

  • I just seen this movie and I thought it was very good. The name of the movie itself was well put "The Age of Stupid". We are very ignorant, and to change our lifestyle it is in a way a sacrifice. I think it would not be if everybody collaborate. But at the same time we are greedy, always wanting more, and more for less work. I have always thought that one of the solution would be to EDUCATE people to all this knowledge. EDUCATION and DISCIPLINE would be the key to console this problem.Nice Work!

  • @cupera1 I think Cupera's talking about some of the people in the film, not the filmmakers?

  • Of course we were an experiment basically--this planet. We failed miserably.

It was out of our own selfishness and greed which brought about our demise.

The last remaining chance for survival which is acknowledged in this solar system, destroyed by conflict for control. Why, . .that sounds like a great idea for a book or religion!

  • It is sad that those who deny global warming will not be around to witness the tragedy of what humanity is rushing towards. Unfortunately it will be the next generation who will bear the consequences, while we sit around discussing whether it is true or not.

And what is ironic is that the deniers use the same arguments as conspiracy believers and creationists instead of using common sense and a bit of scientific know how.

  • Almost everything you say is sound and significant but there is one mistake which depends on your current age. The worst of global warming WILL most definitely affect the next generation but sadly we've already set these climatic shifts in motion and it's going to happen within the next 25 years. How severe? No one knows. This is the most important challenge that human civilization will ever face and majority of people don't even know about it or the consequences. It is devastating.

  • This has now risen to the level of religious fanaticism and the church of global warming they will destroy anyone who attempts to disprove the churches theology. The selling of indulgences was done the catholic church in the 1500's so there is precedence for Al and his cronies to sell "carbon credits" for money to pay for their own lavish life style, 4 mansions, private jets, 20X energy use of a ordinary home, and the life styles of the rich and famous.

  • cup, there was a terrific interview with Al Gore on Charlie Rose last night, 11/4/09.

I highly recommend it. If youre interested, you can watch ONLINE.

  • We've got NASA, NOAA, MIT, Harvard, IPCC, University of California, Science Magazine, Nature Magazine, Oxford, Cambridge, The Royal Society, Union of Concerned Scientists, National Geographic, etc. on our side.

SOLAR IRRADIANCE has had no NET increase for 34 years since 1975. We have excellent satellite data to prove it.

Yet, arctic ice and mountain glaciers have shrunk nearly 50% the last 34 years due to Global Warming.

    WHY??

  • I am glad there are some clever people here who agree that this is NOT A HOAX please this is not a time to agrue about whether it is real or not IT IS REAL but we should be doing sompthing about it iv got my entire secondry school (1900 people) thanks to my eco club (cream) to watch it and now they agree with us and to watch it those who are no stupid get this film shown and then do sompthing about it!

  • My entire school is going to see it thanks to me and my eco club (cream) Those who disagree with this are DUMBO JETS!!

    =============================

The Film Council carried out an official survey and were totally bowled over by the results, which are way, way better than for a normal film:

98% of viewers liked the film

    (56%: excellent, 31%: very good, 11%: good, 2%: fair, 0%: poor),

98% said they would recommend it to their friends and.... wait for it....

75% of them had heard about the film from word of mouth (as opposed to our non-existent advertising, reviews etc).

  • Conclusion?utter drivel, totally ignores scientific fact made by a load of self satisfied ecobores.

  • Even if it is bad maybe it takes stupid to reach the stupid! Wake up skeptics. The risk that you are correct in your lack of concern is not worth taking in the face the risk of climate change induced collapse of civilization. This risk is VERY real. Even gamblers know there are some bets not worth taking.

  • An excellent film hopefully it will be seen by as many people as possible in the run up to copenhagen.
