  • Excellent video, thank you.

  • @memadmax69 Thanks. Glad you like it.

  • Please read the video description if you have any questions. Thanks.

  • This is a good video.

  • @TrainboyRR Thanks man. An oldie but goodie! :D

  • lucky catch!

  • @WJ165 Yep. I wasn't expecting triple 3 to be broken down, but the oncoming train crew said that the reverser went bad on the previous crew, & it got stuck there. When they went to pull fwd off the Y for the turn around return trip to Rigby, it didn't budge. The field mechanic arrived later in the day from Portland, & had to call the Waterville shops for the part. It was fixed later that night.

  • The EMD class 66s sound a lot like this

  • basically the same motor and compressor set up, so they should sound very similar!

  • The APU is supposed to run like this. Autostarts

when the battery runs low, water temps are cold.

    Runs for 2 hrs minimum

  • Yep.

  • i used this vid for some weathering on my b&m 326

  • Aw, hey, that's great! I was hoping some fellow modelers could use this footage. Cool.

  • 333 it's only half evil...

  • LOL!

  • What do you mean by that?

  • ok 666 is the number of the beast, so 333 is only half evil..

  • Well what did a loco #666 do to you?

  • Well, right now according to spies in the ranks at CSX their AC6000, 666 is cooling its heels in Cumberland until business improves! So this 666 is donig nothing, like far too many folks these days!

  • Very nice vid, lot of really good close up shots, thanks 4 sending me this, i got 2 go up in a AC4400

  • Thanks. I figured you could probably use this one also to help detail your models. I made this video for all the other scale modelers (like myself) that are kicking around.

  • the closest ive gotten to a gp40 was it rigby when i was younger and i was on the side where the yard office was and some mechanics where looking at the fuel tank on a loco and they said my mom and i could walk around it and look at it just not get on it it was sweeeet...wish i was smart enough to have a camera back then

  • I hear ya. well, here you go then. This video takes you over almost every inch of a GP40. Great for detailing a model of one especially.

  • have they repaired 333 yet or is it still at waterville or something?

  • Yep, it was gone the next day. All it needed was a reverser relay, & Waterville was the closest place that had the parts, so they sent a crew down to fix it that evening.

  • thats pretty sweet always can count on Waterville

  • nvr mind

  • lol. OK. No problem. Thanks for watching my videos.

  • why did you go in the loco? are a rail worker?

  • Cool Video

Thats happaned at NMJ before they send mechanics up from Waterville to fix them.

  • Boo "Pan Am Railways!" Boo "Guilford Rail System!" Boo! Hiss! We demand Boston & Maine!

  • ??????

  • "bitrex" is upset about the Guilford takeover, just like alot of the rest us. Timothy Mellon (CEO of Guilford) put B&M, & MEC in the dirt, by killing jobs, & abandoning alot of perfectly good lines (with customers on them to boot) in the New England region.

  • I hope you had permission to be in that unit.

  • Yep. This video wouldn't exist, or it would've turned out different, if I didn't have permission to go aboard.

  • Music to my ears! And Suh-weet cab footage!!

    Jim

  • Thanks Jim! Stay tuned, I just filmed MEC 347 going through town today with my new HD camera. I'll get the video of it uploaded ASAP.

  • No problem! And I can't wait!

  • Hey Jim, I just finished uploading part 1. Working on part 2 as I type this. Thanks.

  • Wow! Another awesome video! Nice music! 5 stars on this one too!

  • Thanks! Yes, the song seemed to fit this video really well too. The song is "Hobo Blues" by the Lonesome River Band.

  • How did you get into the cab??!! lol

  • Crazy as it sounds, I just happened to be in the right spot, at the right time. I also have a friend that works in the yard there which is a good thing too. LOL. Thanks for watching 4016.

  • Must be nice, lol, I haven't seen any one of the G's enginesa, besides 573, lol.

  • Haha. It's fun.

Hopefully the Mountain Division will be re-activated soon. Then you'll probably get to see all kinds of cool stuff run through your neck of the woods.

  • I'm sure the poeple that live/work around Spring St. & Pleasent St. must've loved hearing the APU running all night!

I think it's going to be a long while before the Mountain Division is active again. Lots of work to do to get it ready. They need to get the tracks laid across Bridge St. in Westbrook, lots of brush clearing, plus a CMP truck took out the bridge on Mallison Falls Rd. here in Windham last week. The feed store on Main St. would probably have to be moved to allow trains to pass by.

  • Haha, Yeah, I can imagine. It wasn't as loud as it sounds though. You really couldn't hear it until you got about 40' from it. Thanks for the update on the line down that way. Any building(s) whatsoever shouldn't be on any ROW. That's not too bright on their part if they do. The state owns that land. Supposedly there was a vote on it this month by congress to re-activate it? Not sure on the details yet.

  • nice video man u lucky man getting to get up on a guilford gp40! haha dude thanks for telling me y posted this! this is awesome! the other day when i was at rigby yard there was a similar prob with a loco like this i think well at least there where some maitenence dudes checking it out

  • and thats's cool they let you in the cab!

  • what's the APU?

  • APU = Auxiliary Power Unit. Used to keep the loco in a ready status at all times without having to run the main engine. Thanks for the comments.

  • So what broke down on it,and if it was left running was it left alone!

  • The reverser relay wasn't switching over properly, so it would only go in reverse. The off going crew only left the APU running, & not the main diesel itself. That was probably done to keep the water, & fuel warm, since it was cold the night that it happened. The on-coming crew re-started the 645 shortly after I arrived, & tried to get it moving without much luck. A maintenance tech arrived later on, & determined it needed further parts, & a repair crew dispatched from Waterville to fix it.

  • Nice video,cool diesel locomotive 5*****

  • Thanks!
