I love Anna Moffo. This was gorgeously sung. She has splendid technique. If she played Micaela in Carmen on stage, that must have caused some troulbe - she's as sexy as Carmen herself! I do love this version although I also like Mirella Freni's passionate interpretation.
I' ve listened to probably most of the versions of this song on YouTube so far and have come to the conclusion that, even though her consonants are terribly discreet, she is by far the most expressive in her voice.
Excellent, the diction , the tempi, those B's are done very well with strong support. This aria is an odd one for voices as it sits strangely and the tune often sounds like a lost broken down mosquito...never the less Moffo brings it home.
@lizmexico Agree She is absolutely magnificent and we can every word she sings. Glorious French. I am Frenc myself and i hate the the way Italians sing it. Bravo Anna!
i disagree, thoroughly - not that i think that this is anything but excellent, but most of her other recordings are the best of the kind - her 'vespri', or her 'regnava' as better than Sutherland's (not an easy act to beat) , her 'voi che sapete' is fuller than Von Stade (also not any easy act to beat) ... many others ... ...AND despite Zeffirelli's 'quote' of Callas' bitchy remark, any of hers recordings of Traviata are still to be matched
That "Biege Album" of arias sung by Moffo in 1961 is indeed a classic (much as is Price's "Blue Album") and is a must for all Moffo fans. The present aria is splendidly sung, without the drooping portamenti of Sutherland or the high-note interpolations of Tetrazzini. In certain respects, Moffo was at her peak here.

Definetly the best Micaela at least on Youtube!
This gorgeous lady was much better known for her beauty than for her art even in her golden years. That's why she's still so underrated.

Moffo's voice rings sublime. Very expressive, with emotion and tone clarity. Her interpretation is almost tangible. I wish I had "it".
