For me, I use Firefox browser to download all videos of YouTube. In Firefox go to menu tools > complements> add > show all recommended. In the page that opens, enter in the search box, "downloadhelper" . Then, look for "video donwloadhelper" and click to install it in Firefox.

It will save the video in *.flv format. You can use Quickmediaconverter to convert to other format if you want to.

For me, it works very well with all length of videos. And it is for free.
