what art? Everyone's just talking about how much weight he lost! Yeah, it's great dedication but he was doing that for the role, not for the comment's like "oh, he lost tonns of weight, give him an oscar"
Christian Bale went on to do Batman Begins after this movie and he had to build up a shitload of muscle and put weight. He ended up putting on way too much and someone told him, "We're doing BATMAN not FATMAN", and he had to lose a little. Fuck, he's an amazing actor. I loved this movie. Brilliant!
@micha123432 he wanted to get his weight down to 98 lb, but they wouldn't let him. even though he didn't paramedics were always on the set in case he fainted. hell yeah, that is one dedicated actor.
I got really sick back in 2004.I knew I had lost a lot of weight over 2 months, I figured I had lost about 25 lbs. After watching this movie I weighed myself. I had lost 50 lbs! I was 127!
the message of this movie: stop smoking or youre gonna kill a little kid and have to live as a skinny person with a fucked up mind till the rest of your life
This is 100% proof that the Oscars are rigged. Christian Bale's performance unbelievable, the movie was near perfect and yet not even one nomination. From what I see Oscars are just a popularity contest. Notice how only two movies take home all the awards. It happens every year.
Back when Christian Bale wasn't in every single blockbuster, but instead in some of the best and most underrated films around. I love him as an actore, but I think he has done himself a great disservice by overexposing himself to audiences these past few years. He needs to quit all of the massive budget films other than the Batman series, and go back to intense, brilliant movies like this one. He deserves to be recognized as a amazing actor, but it aint gonna happen when he's playing Terminator.
@fidgetingfinch well, i personally love fight club (norton is the master), and the machinist is brilliant, but Big Fish is also a 10/10 with a message way bigger than these ones
@fidgetingfinch I recently watched Don't Look Back on Netflix. Another mind-bending, psychological movie. It's slower, but I think it is flawless. It's French and directed by Marina de Van. You might like it.
so your telling me that the the the bald guy only he can see is really just his conscience because he ran over a kid, and that the mexican waitress isnt real but just the mom of the kid he ran over and at the end he turns himself in?
@MoneyBags171 christian bale should have been nominated for a Oscar for this movie. I believe Oscars is a popularity contest. Thats why many of the talented actors have not won any.
Said tuns before.. but Christian Bale is a really good actor, and that is kinda hard to find with all the average acting yet good looking celebs right now. He was also phenomenal in American Psycho
i saw this movie last night and the creepiness/suspense of it kept me up till around 4 something in the morning. regardless of my lack of sleep, it's a good movie though there are some images that creeped me out and the music especially. if u like hitchcock, u'll like this movie.
@headfirst4halos9 Agreed. I'm a guy and I'll admit he looks good, but he also has the talent to pull his weight unlike most of the 'big name' actors / actresses *cough* Ben Affleck *cough* Jennifer Lopez! Just the fact that he lost so much weight to pull this role off shows how seriously he takes his reputation. Let's see how many A-list actors would ruin their image to absorb themselves in a role like this.
I have Insomnia and it has made me angry and bitter. I would do anything to enjoy a full nights rest... Every now and again, I'll fall asleep but only for a very short time. When I do doze off, I am punished with horrifying dreams.
OMG , Christian Bale looks so incredibly ill in this movie! How did he not just drop dead from being so underweight? Holy shit , talk about a method actor lol
I've seen 17 of Jennifer's films and my favorite is 'Bastard out of Carolina', 2nd fav 'Deloris Claiborne'. I love how she explores various intense characters & isn't afraid to expand her range. I haven't been able to see 'Eyes of a Stranger', would love to see it here if available. Also would love to see 'The Best Little Girl in the World' again (it was her first film that I saw). I also like that she's willing to do supporting as well as staring roles at various stages in her career.
It is a REALLY REALLY awesome movie, greatly recommended, AND if you're high while you watch it, all I got to say is.. Holy shit it's fan-fuckin'-tastic!
It's good. Not awesome entertaining, but there' s a lot of symbolism in it (the good kind, that is ultimately of plot relevance, not the shitty pretentious kind) and its something you can appreciate if you've been exposed to the various works the film pays homage to, ie. several works by Dostoevsky.
Worth watching, not sure about watching again though, it's fairly straightforward after seeing it once.
