i remember flash gordon tv series in the 50's. it followed grandstand on bbc1 at 5pm. the opening credits showed a monster being killed by flash and falling backwards showing its huge feet. i seem to remember that the bbc removed this part of the credits as it had letters from parents saying it scared their children. i have to say it didnt frighten me and i was only about 6 or 7. not sure if it was this incarnation of flash though.
Ah, Steve Holland. Not only was he Flash Gordon in the 50's, but James Bama used him as the model for Doc Savage on the 60's paperback reprints. If I'm Flash Gordon AND Doc Savage, I'm pretty damn proud of myself.
I have some dvd's with lure of light, akim the terrible, sub world revenge, the forbidden experiment, the planet of death, The Brain Machine, Struggle to the End, Saboteurs from Space, The Forbidden Experiment, Deadline at Noon and have seen online The Skyjackers. where can I get more because this is my #1 favorite show. some dvd's on amazon have 3 other episodes but that is only 3 new ones.
all these planets are blowing up right in front of their eyes... so what do they do? go to land on the last planet that even themselves predicted would blow up. whoo.
I vaguely remember these shows but one stands out in my mind. It dealt with "Androids". They had funky music when they were activated. Does anybody remember that or has it?
Do you have the episode called "Deadline At Noon?" That show was filmed around 1954 amid the ruins in Berlin,Germany. Flash Gordon and crew had to disarm an atomic bomb which was sent 2,500 years back into Earth's past....which could destroy their future... I liked this series. Flash Gordon,Dale, and Dr. Zarkof were always fighting weird alien people who were trying to do fantastic bad things!

If you thought the Buster Crabbe serials had terrible special effects then you havent seen this verison.
What disapointed me about what little ive sene of this series is that it does not take place on Mongo.

yeah... that was RETURN OF THE ANDROIDS....the android music was sort of like marching clocks ticking, er something.

This was a great series, produced in "West Germany" and France after the war, which is why so many of the characters have accents.
Sadly, I can only find about half of the episodes on video. Pretty good effects for a 50's show.
