  • Hey guys, I love this vid and am definitely going to make a costume. My only concern is that I am fourteen and am only about 5 foot 6-8 ish so making one of these with the dimensions given would be absolutely massive. So, i was wondering if anyone could give me some shortened ones that are scaled a little better. Reply ASAP. thx

  • damit, too late, i have to wait next year...

  • im doing this for my costume tonight. I have 2 hrs and 30 mins to make this so i better hurry. THX!

  • I've now made two helmet by following your instructions. My second is better than my first by far, I didn't have foam core board so I covered it in spackling, sanded it down, then painted it, so it doesn't look like card board but it still light weight. I also "counter balanced" it using card board on the back.

  • thx men

  • Amazing mate always wanted to do this then thought screw it il have ago 2 days ago, now sitting next to the monster just needing to add the screws and tubes love it! Will post now just for the knife and outfit!

  • This is amazing! Your an awesome artist and this must have been tough for you! Thanks for the help >:D I would have never been able to do this on my own.

  • at 4.10 he says 27 degrees... from what line? all i see is the white board, can't tell what to do at this part

  • @BagTheMEAT look at the triangle when he cuts out it... the short, pinched end is the 27 degrees because L is 90 degrees and < is like 45 (nah I think its smaller

  • You know the concaving of the cardboard (5:15 to 5:20) how far in to the card board did you bend it/how did you do that?

  • what are the dimensions of the plastic pipe?

  • this is very useful i intend to put this to good use for my Halloween outfit this year :3

  • @ryan699724 I want to see it when finished! post a video RE! Glad you liked my video!!

  • @Dax79 thanks :)

  • Hi! Just dropped by to say thanks for this awesome tutorial that helped me in the making of my own PH costume =D you can see the end result here: /watch?v=XlPqvrIPPYg

  • Just wanted to say, this is an absolutely brilliant video!

While I didn't use all the same dimensions and used a few different techniques here and there, this tutorial was very inspirational and a great aid to crafting my own "kahbohd" Pyramid helmet. (some nice tips from the Butcher video too, btw) Considering how often I was stopped for photos and praised for the general kickassery of my costume, I figure that goes to show what a great influence you've been. So, thank you, can't say enough.

  • @WolfmanNougat glad you like my videos! I hope to see your PH at some point!!!!

  • I needed this! Thank you!

  • @Deltaxangon22 Your welcome!

  • where can you get huge peices of cardboard like that? Is it a huge single peice or did you need to combine bits together?

  • @Kookaburra00 Large TV box! head to town!!

  • @Kookaburra00 I got my cardboard from a hardware store. I have two boxes, one a fridge box another a TV box. The TV box is a lot thicker and stronger, so look for those.

  • would you sell these helmets

The original does have details if ya look at the 3d model, it'd be interesting. This still looks great though awesome well done heh heh.

  • heyy man, great tutorial. on the part when you reinforce the front two trainles with te 7cm width card, do you do this on both sides? or just the exterior side? Thanks, i'll post a response once it's finished :D

  • I scaled the dimensions down to fit my size (I'm 6'2", but I'm slender - only 170 lb.) and so far its turning out fantastic, once I finish it I'll be sure to post a response!

  • Is the glue gun necessary or can i just use wood glue from a bottle?

  • hi,i'm 5'2 but i plan on wearing boots that will make me taller. should i change the measurements to make the mask smaller, or will it look just as good the way you have it here?

  • hey man i'm from mexico and i made this whit your video last year, can you put subtitles to your video please? what other material i can substitute the polyfilla?

  • What are the angles of the back panels?

  • i want make this now thanks but i dont need helmet

  • This tutorial is incredibly helpful! Awesome job!

  • What is Pollyfilla?

  • For those who don't know, polyfilla is an alternate name for spackling paste.

  • I'm not very tall, but I want to dress up as Pyramid Head for Halloween. I'm 5' 4". Would It look alright? Lol.

  • what can i use to make homemade prostetics? like make fake muscles and all that?

  • @Emblemz , You might try asking that question on BackyardFX channel and they may be able to help.

You might be able to make something out of upholstery foam to do that.

  • Glue Gun Background FTW

  • Thank you very much for this video!

  • I got Pyramid Head in Star Wars Jedi Academy. its very cool

  • A protractor!! Scary!!

  • how much will you exept to make me one

  • I just got a question, what is polyfilla? I've never heard of it before, so I was just asking.

  • how hard the card borad hav 2 b?

im going start my fast but i need 2 kno how much things i need

  • Halo 3 cloths ^^ XD

  • :o halo 3 baby! lol awsome i need to get started right away

  • awsome tutor

  • hmmm making a spear i presume would be alot easy than the giant sword?? xxD even tho the sword is freakin sweet! i love when you can swing down so it cuts the monster down the middle!!

  • How long is the 7 cm cardbord? u only said the with.

  • @pivotanimator2 I put 14,5 cm, looks ok :)

  • I watched both part 1 and two of your how to build a p-head, tomorrow I'm starting with the helmet part. Just there is something I don't get yet....what's polyfilla for? I'd understand that better If I talked english and knew what it is lol..... But I understand that it is somekind of Spackling paste?

  • Halo 3???? Nerd!!!

  • @Dax79 could you please make a video on how to make the version from the game? it would be wonderful, I'm trying to mae it for halloween and you seem to know what you are doing :D and I personally love this one ^. so if you have spre time that would be awesome.

    thanks!

  • I like your shirt!

  • cool.

  • How thick is the cardboard?

  • starts off about 5mm and after the layers about 1/12 inch ish

  • I really want to be Pyramid Head this year for Halloween as well. FYI, Pyramid Head was originally in Silent Hill 2

  • I'm a little confused. Are the front triangles and the back-pieces connected together at all; or is it just the helmet inside holding it all together?

  • Yeah, at 1st the helmet beneath holds it to gather. But after a few layers of card, paint, glue etc the thing will just hold.

  • this is GREAT. i'm trying to look for a substitute way of seeing outside from the mask, since the mesh is actually pretty see-through if you stand in bright light. anyway, the measurements help a lot =]

  • Thanx so much.

me and my friend actually used your videos

and made a pyramid head costume for him and

I made a nurse out fit.

    XD

  • awsome shirt dude

  • HALO 3 SHIRT FTW!!

  • what are the measurements and angles of the 1st triangle?

  • very very good!!!!! u are a crack :D

  • holly shit!!!!!!!!!! PARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • For all these things, there's an American equivalent. MultiGrip is a shelf liner, you can pick some up at walmart, I used black Easy Liner, it's not in the hardware section, try looking around the kitchen ware, it comes in rolls. For polyfilla, any kind of waterproof bathroom caulk will work, I use Polyseamseal tub and tile adhesive bathroom caulk, you can pick it up at Lowes, it's good stuff.

  • Where can i get polyfilla and multigrip. Lowes or Homedepot dont have them

  • Hi, thank you very much for uploading this :) I'm in process to do, and now I have the 2 major parties ^ ^

  • How do you concave the back two panels? Also, are the shoulder carves just done to preference?

  • Just scour down the center to concave.

Yeah, when it's glued together try it on, then trim the excess card from the shoulders!

  • Hey Dax i posted a response video basically took your idea and upped it a bit to some more detail, weighs a bit more than yours i think ^^ Take a look. Thank you very much. :)

  • r u from cardiff?

  • Lakes, Barrow. But I have moved around so much I could be from anywhere.

  • I´ll try it to the next halloween, but i´ll try to start it now...

By the way, thanks, thoug I´m not good to hear english, I´ll try to follow what you do, unless I can find the video on the web subtitled...

  • thanks for doing this video Dax79 its been really useful but i did mine in a rustie gun metal finish ill send ya a pic if ya like thanks again mate

  • I'm guna be a closer for next years halloween :D

  • ok question.

I am confused a/b the "10 cm for rounding" thing.

Is it 70 cm for the triangle and then cut out 10 cm for the rounded part at the bottom?? And if so, how thick from the bottom should the rounded part be?

Im trying to get this done by Saturday! :)

  • 4:30 Just added some notes as so many people got confused. I think its due to me saying

"same again" for the other side.... Hope this helps

  • haha well we actually just guessed so we could get it done by halloween, but it came out pretty good. Thanx :)

  • sorry, the thing is I get a mail box full every day and with work/life its hard to keep on top of things..... especially at Halloween!!!

  • For the cardboard, do you just use regular cardboard or that plasticy cardboard stuff?

  • probs plasticy because let's be honest it's easier to control and is firmer

  • Dax79 man I just finished mine... just a little bit off here and there... ei take a lot on it if you have time Thanks :)

  • Can you add some more exact measurements in terms of how much of everything you need? 'plastic pipe' isn't as descriptive as I'd like; do I need half-inch pvc, what length do I need, etc.

  • Oh boy. I'm attempting this to take along to Otakon or Anime Evolution this year.

My question is..if I wanted to make it smaller (since I'm short and a girl) what would I change? The length of the pieces or the width of the angles? I have to attempt to get this on a plane (which I severely doubt will happen). So it can't be quite at out there..that and I'm clumsy. >> Walls and I do not get along well.

  • For that mess thing i went to my local modle shop and got some wire mess stuff they only had it in grey silver but i sprade it black and dobled the layers of it its was £5 for meter sq

  • Anyone know a good substitute for that Multigrip-mesh thing? Been looking everywhere it or somethign similar, but to no luck.

  • Try looking at Zellers/K-mart for a grip liner that is in the wallpapering/hardware section

  • Thanks. Not that we have those shops in Sweden, but I'll look in similar places. Hadn't tried Wallpaper stores or sections yet.

  • Can always have it chunky. Some thin rope weaved through in a 'grid' fashion and painted black or rust doesn't look to bad I've noticed. I'm going to be using an old 'mesh' pencil case but that was pure luck... Fly screen?

  • I went for fly screen net actually. It isn't optimal, and I have 2 inner layers of it, to make it more dense, except the layer on the outside. But it does the trick I guess.

  • I'm making my Pyramid Head right now :P it's too bad your vid is the only video I can find on teh internets

  • Hey Dax, thanks for the video. I picked up all the supplies today. I'll post how things went later.

  • WTK..........cool is Pyramid Head

  • Where did you get that cardboard from I can't get anywhere i'm at none of the stores have anything large enough.

  • another prblem, I cant see how you make with the extra 10 cm of the back triangle because the speed in the video is fast...

  • I have a question, have a tutorial using only pictures??

  • can it be one of those brown card boards i have huge pieces of those

  • well, in my thinking, multi grip is sort like blu tack to me. you can get them in your local stationary stores.

  • Depends on what area you live in, I guess. The NW has the Haggen stores which all carry the Multi-grip, but I would check any major grocery chain in your area. Hope that helps some.

  • Some grocery store meat/deli departments use it to line their display cases. That's where I got mine. :)

  • Love this costume! Your video was a big help and wanted to say thanks for posting.

I built my son one and finally got it done. It was a real pain getting the angles down but it came out good I think in the end.

Just now having a hard time with the cloth for bottom. It is to thin and having hard time walking. It keeps going between his feet when he steps. May put something to stiffen it up some. Any ideas to go about the bottom?

  • Gig540 ~ im going to try using a canvass cloth... check that out too , should be available at most craft or artsy store. Cheers. Thanks to Dax as well

  • toyokanin - Hey thanks for the suggestion. I actually have completed the whole costume now. I bought 3 yards of a colored fabric. And cut and sewed it together with one of those $15.00 hand sewing machines lol. I had to iron on a fabric underneath to thicken it up so it wouldn't ride between legs but it came out pretty good. I know one thing I will never sew again lol. Not for me

  • happy 2nd year anniversary rofl :D

  • THANKS!!!!!!!!

And I will always be here!

  • YO Dax Man, Leigh, im almost done with me rendition of the famous pyramid head. I'd like to thank you again with your vid that i was extra inspired and guided as i made mine...

  • hey there Dax79 thanks for the Vid!!! i love pyramid head, that character is such an inspiration :)

also I'll make this too for this halloween Thanks again!

  • Very Nice.... Im using sheets of styro foam instead

  • dax, where do u get the cardboard for this? I Cant seem to find a big enough high quality sheet for the death of me.

  • I usually find cardboard down at my dumpster area. i don't know coz i live in singapore :P

  • you have a halo shirt. ಠ_ಠ

  • I made one fully out of metal, it turned out to be a success! :D

  • this is awesome! thank you!

  • fun fact! pryamid head was designed by a girl and meant to be sexy :)

  • then she did a damn good job.

Admit it, if pyramid head tried to rape you, you woulden't say no. XD

  • what is that that hold up ur helmet??

  • Comment removed

  • Hey guys I need some help, Im not exactly in the Australian area to purchase some Polyfilla. So I need the Lowes/Home Depot equivalent. Crap.

  • hey use calk thats what were going to use

  • Tell me how that works out for you. Im going to be using that to seal it up I know that but Tell me how it works for the actuall sanding and filling proccess.

  • well im far from using calk but im going to use it on pyramid heads spear that im making and ill tell you how that goes besides its both cardboard it should work

  • I don;'t get this, 70 cm, plus 10 for rounding. So is it just 70 cm or 80 cm?

  • i think he means that it's total of 80 from edge to edge.

the line should be straight for 70cm. after that, you start the curve which will be 10cm by itself.

  • Wait, so, you'd be cutting off 10cm? Sorry, I'm not good at making measurements -_-

  • he was originally from silent hill 2, but he was a fan fav so they put him in lots of other stuff :)

  • Ok one question: I read earlier comments and you said that for the back panels you did a soft cut slightly off center to make the concave look. Does it matter at all if it's off center? I can't tell how off center it is...

BTW, great vid! I'm gonna be Pyramid Head while my girlfriend's going to be a Nurse.

  • Haha That's AWESOME! That's what me and my boyfriend have planned!

  • i'm going to build one of these helms, can all the listed items be found at lowes?

  • So you used just corrugated cardboard? Like normal cardboard box cardboard?

  • id like to be pyramid head for halloween.

  • go ahead =D

it's awsome, you will probably the most scary monster for children at haloween night =)

last year, i followed a group of children with one mother xD

    that was funny xD

  • if you want to be pyramid head you gotta get ripped
