@lovefunpeace well, this album aside, he generally plays all the instruments (guitars, bass, drums, keys) on his records as well as the vocals and recording/producing. While that itself isn't exactly rare, it's how he, in that fashion, puts together songs that are rather magical in terms of melody, hooks, arrangement and lyrics that makes him a special talent.

Power Pop was much inspired by synthesized sounds and electric guitars. Bands like The Who's The kinks and The Beatles brought up the term "Power Pop". You can put Weezer in that category as well as Cheap Trick. Pop just has a bad name today.
