What did you use to attach the strap? I'm working on my own keytar with the Keystation 61es and I was planning on using strap locks, but I'm not sure how to secure them to the body of the keyboard.
ive been watching alot of ur videos..and u r like a fking genius at everything.....awesome improvisation in here...amazing painting skills..and u also crafted this thing and messed around with the circuitry to control pitch bending...ur amazing
OMG DUDE THAT KEYTAR IS SO SWEET!!! :DDD But i have a question, when you moved the pitchbend and octave controls, it must have left a huge gap right? How did you deal with that? Hahaha you're vid has inspired me to create my own keytar!!! :)
@crazycrazyV Thanks man. I actually covered up that area. The handle mold itself goes all the way accross where the original wheels and slider were. About to the low C key. ;)
Hello there. So, I want a keytar, but I don't exaclty have themoney to buy one. So I was wondering if you could tell me how to make one? I have a keyboard I was going to turn into a keytar but I don't know how to make a working neck for it or how to make stubs for a guitarstrap... Please help? :)
Well, you could try to make the handles out of fiberglass, just by making a form out of clay, and then spreading vasoline on it, and laying the fiberglass on top. Then, you just use a nut and bolt supsension system to suspend the circutry in place in the handle.
Just wanted to say that this is really cool! I've been thinking about doing something similar. I was trying to figure out how to do a good handle like yours, I was thinking fibreglass, but now you have me intrigued by vac-forming.
I shaped the handle using my vacuum forming machine. I then epoxied this to the original casing, and made it seamless. I also put the pitch/mod wheels and buttons in this handle.
freaking sweet man. I was planning on modding my m-audio keyboard into a keytar as well. it's a shame m-audio doesn't make any keytar midi controllers.
that's pretty badass. good for u. creative one.

@mitsubachi2 I cut and stripped the ribbon wire, and extended them. It sucked.

This is incredible work! (and great solo!) How did you shape the casing and how did you attach the handle to the keyboard?

M-Audio totally should make keytars. Their business would BOOM if they did, because the AX7 is the only keytar being made right now...
