both countries are dirt poor to begin with and why everyone is fleeing them. on top of that, no one 'chose' to stay or leave. most people, hindus and muslims alike, were sad victims of partition riots and chased out. in 1947 the nizam was ruling hyderabad, not india, thats why my family stayed in hyd. plus look at india's own govt report on the state of minorities and muslims in india today. half of all indians living in poverty are muslim. half of all muslims are self employed.
