  • I true legend. WELL DONE Jimmy.

  • what can i say, its great to watch this clip of jimmie. ive been i fan of jimmie rodgers since i saw him on stage at festival hall in melbourne, australia, back in 1958. i was thirteen at that time, and had a jimmie rogers style hair cut, and played the guitar, like my hero. i tried to do, honeycomb, etc....and owned the million sellers L.P. jimmie inspired me to get into show bizz. thank you for your wonderfull voice and great songs mate. jon.

  • Thank so much

I still have bimbombay that I carry all the way form Thailand .

    love him always.

    god bless.

  • Been a fan since Honeycomb. Child of Clay is one of the best LPs ever. God bless Jimmie.

  • I have been a fan of Jimmie Rodgers since 1959, when I first his LP "Twilight on the Trail", one of the best albums ever. I was lucky enough to get it on CD. Michael if you are reading this, please give him my best wishes and thanks for the pleasure his voice has given to me and my family over the years.

  • I love this song so much. I pray he is still doing great !! Hate to miss that voice and talent !

  • Almost his Birthday! Please wish him the very best for me. I have always enjoyed his music, and thanks to UTUBE I get to hear all these wonderful songs again. There must be so many stories. Is there a book? Thanks for the posting and thanks for the memories.

  • love you Mr. Rodgers. Although I'm still trying to figure out just how you play the song Sweeter than Wine. You played it so differently... kinda wanna know how :/

  • Wow reading all these comments makes me feel like I'm too young to be here.

  • I love to listen to Jimmie Rodgers sing. Thanks for posting this. I have his CD of CHILD OF CLAY/WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND, and each song is a gem. His version of "Suzanne" is fantastic.

  • many thanks for this. loved his voice since the 50's.

  • Wow Jimmie.... how great to hear you sing again. Beautiful!!!!!

  • Hi Michael-good to hear your dad is doing so well. His appearance on the RnR Grafitti show is one of my favorite musical highlights of all time.Sounds good here too-if his voice gets any raspier he could start a Springsteen cover band :) .God bless.

  • My very first and purest inspiration, Jimmy Rogers! Age 11 in 1958 Id begun singing duets at school & church functions. It was same time as the harmonics inspirationof The Everly Brothers, too! Those influences shaped my musical heart every day since. Thank you soooo much~ Such happiness and relief to see & hear Jimmy again. /~_~\

  • This is awesome ..It's great to see Jimmie Rodgers is still singing these great songs

    Rocket

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting this clip of Jimmie. When I was a little girl in '67 and heard of the horrible injuries he received, I cried profusely. Though I loved his upbeat songs, it was "The World I Used To Know" that had my heart. Even as a child, I felt his sensitivity, gentleness, and warm spirit flow through his words. I recall my feelings clearly: How could someone hurt such a beautiful soul?

I hope you and your dad are well. His gift lives in the consciousness of so many.

  • i grew up listening to jimmy and loved a song called secretly, his voice is still great here, one of the last of the few legends left, fabulous.

  • Is Jimmie Rodgers performing anywhere, anytime soon, especially in California?

  • This is just AWESOME!! The great Jimmy Rogers, thanks for sharing!

  • Jimmie exemplies the art of singing songs that touch the heart of regular folks - songs that every person can identify with. Those of us in the "Gray hair" part of life appreciate each time we hear a Jimmie Rodgers song - and thanks to XM/Sirius - that's a lot more often than it was!

  • wow truely aesome.

My own dad listened to jimmie rodgers all the time. When we went on long trips daddy would sing many of his songs.

One I've been looking for is Country Boy

    can you post that one?

my dad is gone now. but listing to all of these makes such sweet memories come alive again .

    Thanks foe posting.

  • Beautiful to know that people still appreciate REAL talent.

  • I'm so glad he's still singing. His voice hasn't changed that much. Good for him. Good for his family. Good for his fans.

  • Excellent and humorous, i wonder who sang in the background on the Honeycomb recording?

  • So, I'm here to say "Happy Birthday, Jimmie". I hope it is filled with joy and family and good things from the Lord. For some reason the guest book page of your website won't work for me. My computer keeps shutting down the internet when I try it.

  • I knew something happened to Jimmy a few years ago, but he sounds so good here. I love his voice and talent and he guitar playing is great ! Not sure how old he is. Anyone know anything about his health today and how old he is?

  • HI, This is Michael (Jimmie's son) Thanks for your post and questions about dad. He is approaching 76 years old (September 18, 2009) and is in wonderful health. He plays golf nearly everyday and is the proud father of five kids including a 19 year old daughter. This video was filmed in February 2008. All the best. and thanks for your interest and kind words. Michael Rodgers

  • I am very grateful for your reply. I am a huge fan of Jimmie I am so glad he is alive and well. He reminds me of my dad that just past, you are so luck to still have him. We seldom get acts like him in the Carolinas anymore, I would have loved to see him in person, one of the draw backs to being a poor farm boy, I can only watch you tube and dream about being there. Please tell Jimmie, Tommy from Carolinas loves his performance, and always will !

  • hi Michael ;

my uncle was a singer in the Kirby stone Four who were on your dad's tv show .

I think those videos are avail. of those shows from 1959. I would love to see them . Do you have any?

  • Thank you, Michael for sharing this video. I've been a fan of your dad since the very beginning. It's wonderful to know he is still enjoying playing his beloved guitar and singing. This was truly a wonderful tribute to your dad's talent.

  • Jimmie Is in great health today. I was privileged to be the host of this Cruise. Along with Jimmie was Freddy Cannon, Carl Dobkins, Jr. and Judy Ricci, My wife & performer. What a great time. After 40 years on the radio I was still mesmerized by the stories Jimmie told of his life. His son Mark & Jimmies wife were also on the cruise. A trult once in a lifetime opportunity. Rick Ward

  • Absolutely one of the very best voices in the history of recorded music.

  • How I loved to listen to you. Are you going to be on tour in San Diego? I will buy my ticket as soon as I know. OMG how I cried when you were beaten. Lots of prayers were sent your way. Still love ya.

  • I'm so glad you posted this video..it's so good to know that Jimmie has recovered from brain surgery in 2007 and has sung again! I could still hear Jimmie as he used to sing many years ago. His voice is a little weaker now but still pure and mellow. Best Wishes for Jimmie, a remarkable, talented songwriter and performer! (I love "It's Over" written and sung by Jimmie Rodgers..the video is here at YouTube...search for JIMMIE RODGERS SINGS "IT'S OVER" :D *****

  • Great to hear him sing again, great to know he is well, great to know he's still great.

  • Unbelievable! J.R. still has class, and I'd bet he could STILL sing the phone book. I love ya' Jimmie, and can't thank you enough for the enjoyment you've given me over the years.

  • Great post. Thanks.

  • Tonight I was unpacking my LPs from the 60s and came across an A&M sampler album with Jimmie singing "The Lovers" by Rod McKuen. What a voice! After reading more about him on wikipedia, I discovered this video. Thank you for posting this ... enjoyed the performance immensely and the guitar playing was a real surprise!

  • Michael, it's such a joy to find a lot of your Dad's music on YouTube. I remember most of it from the 50's and 60's and it's great to listen to it all again. I hope he's keeping well? God Bless! John.

  • listen to the world i used to know and you'll know why he was so good

  • Wow, what a treat!

  • He's still got that unmistakable quality in his voice. Great to see he's performing again.

  • Yeah his voice is a bit 'gruff' at times but at times you can kind of hear what he sounded like back then. He's a legend and needs to be inducted in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame !!!!

  • I heard the Flyin' Saucer song on a TV show- can't remember what one. I think he was singing to a child though. I would love to hear it again.Blessed Christmas to all of you. I listen to "It's Christmas Once Again" everyday. He does have such a quiet, restful voice-but power too.

  • Happy and healthy to you and your family.

  • Michael,'

Can you post your father doing Blue Light at the Rock N Roll Graffiti show? I loved your dads music.Hope he is doing well.

  • Great Suggestion. As soon as I have that in a digital format I will post it.

    Happy Holidays. Michael

  • I used to sing the chorus of a children's song of Jimmie's about a flying saucer tomy kid's. Does anyone know anything about this song?

  • The Flyin Saucer Song.

Dad wrote this and used to perform this in concert from time to time. He would stutter and stammer through it like I did when I was 3years old. Nice that you remember that. How did you learn the song? He never recorded it.

  • God bless Jimmie Rodgers. Between Burl Ives and The Weavers in the '40s/early '50s, few performers successfully kept the folk flame alive until the Kingston Trio arrived in 1958. Jimmie, though, preceded the Kingston Trio and truly ignited the pop-folk boom that later made stars of Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul & Mary, etc. And he did it all with a gentle voice that both transfixed and spoke for the hearts of millions. Among his hits: "Wonderful You" -- an apt description of the man.

  • Thank you for yuur kind words.

I have sent them to dad for his enjoyment.

    God Bless. Michael

  • I am thrilled to see this video. Best wishes Jimmie.

  • Michael, Thank you for sharing this. I have enjoyed your father's music and voice since 1959-I was 12- when my piano teacher presented me sheet music to my first 'current' song-Bimbombey. In 1967, I broke up with a girl, and It's Over was there. I can't tell you how many times the phrase 'never in a hundred..' has wafted through my mind-and still does-,long after I forgot where it came from. It's great to see he's performing again and enjoying life. Has his # of grandchildren got to 8 yet?

  • oh my,even at 74, i would buy a new album from jimmie right now. GOD I LOVE THIS MAN.thank you for keeping him here, for all to see.

  • Michael--thanks so much for posting this video. I grew up listening to Jimmie and love his voice--no one else can sing like him. He bridged a gap between folk and rock and gave us such memorable songs. I'm always moved when I hear him. Thanks again for bringing a new awareness of his genius and talent. God bless your Dad!

  • Fantastic. I am 36, and I grew up listening to my parents records of Jimmie as we cleaned house every Sat. morning for so many years. I still have thsoe records, but I have been disappointed to discover that the 1st edition greatest hits LP I have has the song "two-ten, six-eighteen" on it, but interestingly, the SAME album on CD you cna get now is missing only this song. I wish I had it! It is very applicaple given how the vets are being treated at the current moment.

  • I wonder how Jimmie's book is coming along. Can't wait to read it!

  • Hello,

I believe that you tube removed the video due to the poster not having copyright approval.

Hopefully someone else will post it as it was a beautiful performance.

    Thanks for asking,

    Michael Rodgers

  • Why can't we view the video of "It's Over'? I would love to see it. Thanks

  • , Thanks. I was 14 when I first saw Jimmie on the Carol Burnette show. I remember a stunning piano duet that he did with himself I was hooked! As a Christian I have prayed for him off and on through the Years. What a thrill to see what God has done! It has encouraged me to see that even if a trial lasts a long time, we should never give up! God can do anything! God bless you and Jimmie Rodgers through our faithful Lord Jesus Christ!

  • HI. Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you also for your prayers. Dad is doing great. God Bless, Michael Rodgers

  • jimmie is the best-

Has he been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame? I always thought he was the most underrated early pioneers 0f rock..

  • Hello,

    Thanks for writing me.

At this time Dad has not been included on any ballot for the Hall of Fame. We are hoping that this will happen soon as he is most deserving of that honor. Perhaps a written campaign would be necesary to the folks at the hall of Fame. All the best,

    Michael Rodgers

  • Hi,

  • Hello again.

It is so nice to see so many more of you father's songs on youtube. Pity that videos were quite rare in those days. More power to his music!

  • My favorite singer since I was four years old! (.c 1982) I played "At Home with Jimmie Rodgers" endlessly. Thanks so much! God bless.

I called dad tonight and read him the messages and he was thrilled to know of your appreciation.

    I'll post more soon.

    All the best,

    Michael Rodgers

  • Very excellent rendition of 100 miles. Kind of a tearjerker. Thanks for sharing your version of this fine song. Jimmie, you got soul.

  • from what I could hear someone was openly weeping in the audience, if not the singer himself.

  • Amazing with all Jimmie's been thru he continues to entertain us all. 'Oh, Oh I'm Starting to Cry Again' Even if he sheds a tear its so good hear him again.

  • Jimmie you sound great. We followed reports of your surgery and were thrilled to hear how well it went. You are one of the greatest of the most creative periods in music history. God bless you!

  • What a joy to hear Jimmie performing live. This is a most interesting and innovative arrangement of a familiar standard. He looks and sounds great. Hope I can catch one of his performances soon.

  • Good stuff indeed!

  • I did the first full-length radio interview show with Jimmie Rodgers following his surgery last year. You can access it by visiting the Jersey Girls Sing! website. Google that name and, when the home page comes up, scroll to the bottom and click on "Ronnie's Radio Page."

  • WOW...what do I call that??

My father is very delighted to see Jimmie perform like this. Awesome guy. Hey all folks, I wish there's a movie about a great guy like Jimmie. Hope you all agree

    :D

  • Rock-it Radio's Video pick of the week! For the week ending 2/29/2008. Glad to have Jimmie back!

    All the best,

  • Absolutely wonderful, thanks for sharing this, like fine wine we just get better with age. Thanks Jimmie...

  • I've still got the original early LPs

I'm glad to see he is still around , I saw him in Vegas years ago , What a show

  • Rare Performance by Jimmie Rodgers taped on the Norwegian Star Cruise Ship on 02/19/08. This is Jimmie's first performance since having a 29sq inch steel plate removed from his head in June of 07. Jimmie is now 74 years old and although his voice has lost some of it's range due to the many brain surgeries he has had, he is still a great performer. He dedicated this song to his friend Buddy Holly whom he roomed with on the road in the 50's. I hope you enjoy this rare performance.- Michael Rodgers

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. It was great to see him doing so well, and his voice brings back so many memories for me. He was one of my mother's favorite singers and would often listen to his music when she was undergoing radiation - it always brought a smile to her face.
