Oh, this is SO awesome. Ironically speaking, anyway. If you pay attention, "Stairway to Heaven" has very fanciful, even "trippy" lyrics - right in keeping, really, with much of the lyrical output of the Moody Blues. So, on that level, it makes sense (maybe TOO much sense!) that Hayward would cover it. And on the other hand, Hayward covering the signature song of Zeppelin, the uber-masculine rock band, is something totally unexpected! What's next - is William Shatner gonna cover "Stairway" - ?

Memo to the Zeppelin fans giving this thumbs down..this is the adult version of one of the greatest songs of the rock era. This is the version you listen to when you have fully matured and quit the wild & crazy/drug fun years. I'm not criticizing the original or those who love it--but this is a more palatable to those with a refined musical taste.

It's worthy of both the grand orchestra and Hayward's voice. In radio terms, this is the Friday night AND the Sunday morning version--timeless.

I don't think anyone would argue that the original is one of the greatest songs ever written or performed. And, it's human nature to make comparisons... But, the thing that's so great about this version is that it takes the song in a new direction and is classic in its own right. I've always loved how the Moodies blended the sounds of their various instruments and welcomed the orchestral accompaniment. And, yes, Justin is one of the premier musicians of our day! i LOVE this Cd but Sorry,,this does NOT work. Nice musicianship and orchestraL background but this is not the right song. for Justin..his voice is a bit too soft here..it does take BALLS to even attempt to Cover this. Honestly Robert plant can not even sing this song anymore and hit the notes.....that is why he rarely plays it,.

Love Justin's voice, always have ,always will; but, not on this song. First couple of verses about what I expected. Middle part sounded like Geddy Lee from Rush reaching those high notes. Then, the cheesy choir. Trying to be epic, falling short. It's ok as a novelty but the original is FAR better. Justin is WAY better on "vincent" or "Forever Autumn". Those really move me. Likewise, few people can play that Gibson like he can.

Justin's voice is wayyyy better and way more fit with this song then Plant's voice. I like Plant's voice at times but, Justin never sounds like shit and that is rare to find in a singer. I love this version....

it's an entirely different. i like it, but i also am a huge fan of classical. it's a different kind of epic, and with hayward's voice, it sounds a bit more ethereal. the zeppelin version is more modern i think.
