I think it was a similar situation to the Hopkins Pavlik fight. Pavlik was put in with someone of a much higher class and it made him look awful.

Hes quick when he needs to be, he looks pretty sluggish in the build up but then he can step in and throw quick hard punches from the hip. I think people just want him to be a bit more active maybe, but don't know if that would suit his style if he comes in that often and leaves himself open. I think it was a similar situation to the Hopkins Pavlik fight. Pavlik was put in with someone of a much higher class and it made him look awful.
Same with Froch he just had no replys to Taylor's hand speed and skills. It was only when Taylor got tired around round 10 or 11 and stopped throwing counters and combinations that Froch could finally get through.

dennywrong23, is that the same chris eubank that was never the same after the fight with m watson, he lost 5 fights after that. hopkins+jones were both past there best. I think Joe is a good figher and i wish he had of taken those fights earlier, but a fight with either jones or hopkins 10 years ago would be a different story. froch may not be as good a boxer as joe but a at least he punches rather then slaps. joe vs froch would be a class fight as carl always has a knockout punch in his locker.

Agreed. Unlike Taylor, Calzaghe would not gas, he has a better chin, although being a southpaw might leave him open to Froch's right hand. If Calzaghe can beat Kessler, he can beat Froch. He might take a few rounds to figure Froch out as he is so awkward, but Froch is a slow starter himself so I don't think that would bother him too much.Froch can genuinely surpass his resume without having to fight Joe himself, all he needs is to beat five or six top-level opponents. Don't think he will though.

Froch will learn from this fight. He has to tighten up his defense. Makes for entertaining fights though!! Let's face it...Taylor is a lethal puncher and not many could put the likes of Froch and Pavlik on the canvas so this is testament to what Froch has achieved. Froch Vs Kessler is at the top of my wishlist now...but that's a fight I'm not sure Froch will win.

why is everyone getting up calzaghes ass. he was offered the chance to fight taylor but he choose to fight a 43 year old hopkins who had already lost to Taylor. then he beat a 40 year old roy jones who hasnt had a good fight this decade. the only way calzaghe could beat froch is on points but i dont think calzaghe has the chin to get that far. well jone to froch for beating a fighter that is not over the hill.

agreed - i've read many comments about how calzaghe would knock Froch out. The folk who attach their name to those comments must surely have no idea how either boxer fights. Calzaghe didn't fight Froch because he simply couldn't hurt or stop him. It would be an interesting fight - but Calzaghe would be pushed to win it, he'd have to go 12 rounds and get it on points.
If I'm brutally honest , for all those undefeated fights - in the UK he'll be remembered for ducking Froch.

Some of the comments about Froch beating Taylor are just ridiculous. At the end of the day, yes he was losing the fight and yes he was being outclassed, but he still won so everything else is irrelevant. I'm sure he will have to improve his defences but lets give Froch credit for coming back to batter Taylor into submission in his own backyard. I like the attacking from Froch, but he just needs to cover himself more. I'd like to see him cover up a lot better and then he'd be a much more effective boxer.
As for the knockdown, it didn't look like Froch got hit, he took it well....well not in the sense he went to the deck, but he didn't look phased at all.
If he just covered up after an attack, he'd make himself so much harder to beat.

I agree, I really wish he'd sort his defence out. He's going to get badly caught out when facing the big boys. He's got a fantastic chin, but it's better not to take the shot in the first place. and I don't agree with people that he's slow, you can't hold your hands that low and be a slouch.

Hes quick when he needs to be, he looks pretty sluggish in the build up but then he can step in and throw quick hard punches from the hip. I think people just want him to be a bit more active maybe, but don't know if that would suit his style if he comes in that often and leaves himself open. If he defended better that could afford him more chance to step in and throw.
