Friday night:. Finish work, get sometihng to eat then sit in the house with a few friends waiting for a 'phone call'... and then off we hopped in one of our cars, either heading off to an obscure part of the countryside, or into an industrial estate somewhere. You could hear the music before you even got there. Pop a pill or three and just go on a mad one all weekend. Swear off it by Sunday after no sleep and say never again. Until the next week. HARDCORE NEVER DIES. Glad I grew up around it

the PLUR v. PLURR debate is kinda moot. everyone has their own opinions. I believe that the four pars of PLUR come together to create responsibility, but everyone has a different opinion on these things. that's just my 2c
i know several people that were in the rave scene back in the 90's. dj'ing and mixing when i was 6. he has the most amazing stories and always says todays "rave" scene is NOTHING compared to the 90's. i wish i could've been there. i think the word rave is used too losely.
The scene is not gone, it isn't forgotten, it is just the mainstream that has changed. Hardcore was the scene in the 90s / early 2000s then electronica and dubstpe started getting popular in the clubs, and the scene changed. You can still be part of the old scene if you really look for it, but that isn't what us ravers are about. We are just a bunch of kids who like the same music, enjoy the idea of the party, and are generally happy people.

Favorite rave Ive ever been to was this last valentines day. It was thrown in a hotel, they had over 50 dj's, 2000 plus of some of the funnest coolest people Ive ever met. The whole hotel was sold out to ravers so there was parties goin on in all the rooms, floors, and hallways. they converted bedrooms into dance room. and cool decorations everywhere. One of the best nights of my life
First time i listened rave in age of 9 (im 16 in few months)... fucking good, havent been any rave party because of my age, and here... In Finland, near of northpole there isnt anymore... (maybe in 90's were, but not anymore).

@RainbowZombiie FYI EDC is awesome and if you've never been to a rave you have no idea what your saying about EDC, Nocturnal, ETD, Sensation, Black, ect. those are all "mainstream as you would say but you know what? some of the best times i have had are at the Insomniac Massives...but underground raves are still fun they just don't have the mass of people that i love cause more people = more love...most of the time...

@RainbowZombiie - EDC has changed a lot from what it was. Back when I was younger, EDC wasnt this big mainstream party. It changed as the scene got more popular. Its sad to say but its true. When I think of EDC, I dont think of garbage. It was some of the greatest times Ive ever had.
When you hit your first rave, Im sure you will have a blast. Someone said something about it being a popularity contest. Please dont fall into that. Be true to yourself and make it the best fucking time ever!
pttf, go to a "proper" rave, like world dance at lyyd airport, elevation/reincarnation @ crystal palace. And of course the home of rave during the mid 90s at the sanctuary. V7 saxon street, bletchley, Milton Keynes. :( Some of the best days of my life, it can not be beaten. Memories is all i can say, and they will stay with me to the day i die. :D

I also feel as if i was born in the wrong century. When I turned 20 I said @ 35 I am done! Well that was this July... and I'm on my way to the next weekend camp out... Been doing this since '89 and the scene has changed in many ways but the ones who dont get it will latch onto another trend or they will have that lightbulb finally shine bright and then contribute to the scene! Over 20yrs of playing around and meeting new people I still dont see myself hanging it up... just adapting & going with the flow! My glowstick has many years left! PLUR :)

gotta say I have never once taken pills or drugs. I don't need them to experience an out of the ordinary feeling at a rave. When the music is playing and the lights are flashing and everyone is moving in a different way yet in kinda a synchronized way I just feel like I could run for miles and never get tired and take any challenge and it be breeze. Its about the music and the company not forcing your body and brain to feel different.
I aggree with langelagrenouille. When ever I go to the mall there are soo many posers wearing kandi. It really pisses me off. Also at raves there are ppl who stick out and do NOT belong there or any other venue. what has happen to the real raves?? *sigh*
Thanks for posting. I started Raving in 2003. its good to see people are still talking about PLUR. PLUR shows itself in strange and beautiful ways at Raves. It is a beautiful manifestation of raw human emotion. RAVE ON.
@Cud4kats I agree... though it was called PLE when I started visiting raves in the early 90's... They removed the Extacy part as it was seen as a reverence to drugs... BS in my opinion... The extacy for me came from the music and the vibe that just swept you away on those raves.
That really was the best time, when a gabber was what the name said: a "mate". I was at an outdoor festival once after days of rain, so the pitch was totally muddy. At one point a girl slipped and fell in a pool of mud. Nobody laughed at her, but two guys she didn't even know jumped in to pull her up and some random girls gave her some of their clothes so she could get changed. That was what it was all about.
I started going to my hardcore raves in 93 at age 15 and I used to eat 2 big plates of maceroni in advance and drink water all night and I was usually still dancing when all the dopeys where sitting against the wall completely wasted, because they ran out of drugs. All the shit you need to get in a trip is already in your head, but if you start with drugs, you won't be able trigger it without them anymore

Yea but have u ever taken pills at a rave. Iv been to raves with and without taking pills-I certainly wasn't taking too many-and I say theres nothing quite like the feeling of buzzing at a rave with the music pumping into ur system. I dont doubt u manage to enjoy urself anyway and congrats. But its like if u go out with ur friends sober and they're all drinking. u can still laugh along but u'l always be a bit detached.

I have tried it once at a new years party at a friends place to see what it was and all I found was that it induced a feeling I reckognized from when I did go to raves, but then without the artificial stimulance. Maybe I'm just lucky to be able to get that feeling naturally when I go to a good rave. I did notice that friends that had gotten used to taking pills at those parties couldn't enjoy it much without anymore.
Been reading some strange comments. The music and the drugs combined are what made it special. The middle 90's to late 90's were top. I agree that people like the music and not the drugs. The only bad thing with anything is when people go over the top cuz they dont know their limits but it dont take long to realise your limits and know when to take it easy and not take the piss,the same with anything you do too much of anything and it does you no good,pace yaself & enjoy the ride dont go over the top or you'll suffer. you can kill yourself having too much food and water too but that never stopped us we are human & aint on the planet forever so enjoy it while you are here init ; )

First time i listened rave in age of 9 (im 16 in few months)... fucking good, havent been any rave party because of my age, and here... In Finland, near of northpole there isnt anymore... (maybe in 90's were, but not anymore).

@RainbowZombiie - EDC has changed a lot from what it was. Back when I was younger, EDC wasnt this big mainstream party. It changed as the scene got more popular. Its sad to say but its true. When I think of EDC, I dont think of garbage. It was some of the greatest times Ive ever had.
When you hit your first rave, Im sure you will have a blast. Someone said something about it being a popularity contest. Please dont fall into that. Be true to yourself and make it the best fucking time ever!

pttf, go to a "proper" rave, like world dance at lyyd airport, elevation/reincarnation @ crystal palace. And of course the home of rave during the mid 90s at the sanctuary. V7 saxon street, bletchley, Milton Keynes. :( Some of the best days of my life, it can not be beaten. Memories is all i can say, and they will stay with me to the day i die. :D

Drugs has always been a huge part of the scene' back in the 90's 'my day' it was like a drug flea market inside partys' and for all u that don't know it wasn't ruined by the kandi kids or 'the drugs it was big business and big ego djs' that wanted big money in' 03 or 04' when pepsi and ford started throwing massives the true rave scene died cause real kids like me' and my crew would never be caught at any party ford throws then all these 'club partys' started poping up that wasn't raves' thrown

No it's those damned club kids that barged in, turned the whole thing into an over inflated ego saturated, highschool popularity contest like fashion show. Oh you'r nothing cause you dont dance the right way, you dont dress the right way and you cant name drop the week's hot DJs. Silly kids that is not what true rave is all about. It's about the music and the brotherhood and the vibe!

When I turned 20 I said @ 35 I am done! Well that was this July... and I'm on my way to the next weekend camp out... Been doing this since '89 and the scene has changed in many ways but the ones who dont get it will latch onto another trend or they will have that lightbulb finally shine bright and then contribute to the scene! Over 20yrs of playing around and meeting new people I still dont see myself hanging it up... just adapting & going with the flow! My glowstick has many years left! PLUR :)

gotta say I have never once taken pills or drugs. I don't need them to experience an out of the ordinary feeling at a rave. When the music is playing and the lights are flashing and everyone is moving in a different way yet in kinda a synchronized way I just feel like I could run for miles and never get tired and take any challenge and it be breeze. Its about the music and the company not forcing your body and brain to feel different.

@Cud4kats I agree... though it was called PLE when I started visiting raves in the early 90's... They removed the Extacy part as it was seen as a reverence to drugs... BS in my opinion... The extacy for me came from the music and the vibe that just swept you away on those raves.

That really was the best time, when a gabber was what the name said: a "mate". I was at an outdoor festival once after days of rain, so the pitch was totally muddy. At one point a girl slipped and fell in a pool of mud. Nobody laughed at her, but two guys she didn't even know jumped in to pull her up and some random girls gave her some of their clothes so she could get changed. That was what it was all about.

I started going to my hardcore raves in 93 at age 15 and I used to eat 2 big plates of maceroni in advance and drink water all night and I was usually still dancing when all the dopeys where sitting against the wall completely wasted, because they ran out of drugs. All the shit you need to get in a trip is already in your head, but if you start with drugs, you won't be able trigger it without them anymore

Yea but have u ever taken pills at a rave. Iv been to raves with and without taking pills-I certainly wasn't taking too many-and I say theres nothing quite like the feeling of buzzing at a rave with the music pumping into ur system. I dont doubt u manage to enjoy urself anyway and congrats. But its like if u go out with ur friends sober and they're all drinking. u can still laugh along but u'l always be a bit detached.

I have tried it once at a new years party at a friends place to see what it was and all I found was that it induced a feeling I reckognized from when I did go to raves, but then without the artificial stimulance. Maybe I'm just lucky to be able to get that feeling naturally when I go to a good rave. I did notice that friends that had gotten used to taking pills at those parties couldn't enjoy it much without anymore.

Been reading some strange comments. The music and the drugs combined are what made it special. The middle 90's to late 90's were top. I agree that people like the music and not the drugs. But together was what made the it special. Coming up on old mitzies to tunes like this in a crowded house or some random field is what made it special. hell i remember my first rave it was in the cornfield behind my house and we invited alot of ravers from school and it turned out that they invited ravers from across the state and we had a huge nonstop rave on a schoolnight people i didnt know showed up there was booze lightsticks and this song was the first song i actually danced to that night it was fun and i will always remember it. The only bad thing with anything is when people go over the top cuz they dont know their limits but it dont take long to realise your limits and know when to take it easy and not take the piss,the same with anything you do too much of anything and it does you no good,pace yaself & enjoy the ride dont go over the top or you'll suffer. you can kill yourself having too much food and water too but that never stopped us we are human & aint on the planet forever so enjoy it while you are here init ; )
