  • It's amazing, really amazing.

  • For those of you ragging on the overbalancing, see the (rehearsal) following the title? That is because it is the fact that THEY ARE MIC TESTING!! The mics of course won't be perfect in a mic test...

  • It's so easy to find the bad in something. Why do we have the tendency to gravitate in that direction? I challenge anyone to sing this style of music "correctly". I've had the honor of singing on the International contest stage with 41 other quartets. My quartet was the best in our district, and at the big dance we came in next to last. There are some very talented people out there. Well done fellas!

  • I don't get all these king singers fanatics. Why do you need to go around and bag on every other version of the song? Stop forcing your opinions on everyone else and please go away... Thanks. What happened to just being nice...

  • who arranged that version of this piece? was it kirk young?

  • @cw82352 In regards to yours and other's poor comments on here, I think the medals around their necks speak for themselves. Go sing in a international championship quartet and then you can critique them. Thanks.

  • @cw82352 I too feel the bass sounds a little nasal. From the little barbershop I know, the tenor is supposed to sing a little bit flat in order to achieve better ringing with the other three voices. It's pretty incredible how they blend and in pitch they are though, even if it's sometimes a little screamy and nasal? It's almost unreal.

  • @cw82352 yeah im pretty sure you dont realize that a major third actually had to be lower than it equal tempered friend on the piano to actually be perfectly in tune.

  • @RileyBunke might be a mic-issue, since I'm pretty sure these guys know how to stand correctly ;)

  • Thanks for the tip, it`s a nice recording, although a bit cheatful with the multitrack.

Nevertheless, nice work.!The stretcing of the lines I find less attractive. To lotechfarmer, you really didn`t get my point, did you?

  • @muge0711 For a perfect BARBERSHOP version try the Gas House Gang

  • @muge0711 they slow down at the ends of phrases because they are ringing a chord....it is good blend because half the time they are blending so well that all you hear is the overtone ring...also this song is not a rhythm tune. its a ballad, the telling of a story, therefore rhythm is important like if it were a swing tune or a march. Some people like a bit of expression with their music rather than just being a metronomic piece.

  • Can ANYONE send me the sheet music or where I can find the sheet music. PLEASE!

  • @terrorfan24 I believe that YouTube user daniscool99 did a transcription which he has for sale, so I would recommend contacting him

  • I really don`t hear the musicality here. It`s well overdone, grotesque, pompous, not at all a delicate sound which this song should have. I wonder if they are aware of the lines they are singing. The balance of the voices is not good either, there is one solist in this team, and that is not a good thing.

  • @muge0711 What are you doing on a barbershop site? At least you are observant in a few areas - we babershoppers don't do soloist style music since our objective is close chords and good blend. I strongly disagree on your musical assessment of this piece.

  • @muge0711 you evidently dont know anything about barbershop...

  • I'm singing this song with my quartet, but the Philip Lawson arrangement. It's a stunning song!

  • sumclown.com one of the best young quartets to come up to the top. A great bass like the gas house gang and crossroads.

  • wow. great job.

  • Comment removed

  • Our choir has music for this but we have 3 other good selections to choose from but I still wanna do this song :3

  • Id give anything to sing with these guys , if any of you have owned a pet you dearly loved dont think of them during this song itll make you cry man , my pet was a burmese python named trixie she was very special to me i had her for 7 years and never once ever hurt anyone she was always a friend to everyone to those that would let her , ah man what a great song, TEARS GOTTA GO .

  • WOW!!! That was absolutely beautiful!! I love it!!

  • does anyone have the sheet music for this i would lovee it if you could Email it to me thank!! :)

  • One more short bass: Jayson VanHook.

  • does anyone know where to find the music for this exact peice??

  • your fantastic <3

  • chris and tim both are overbalanced for this group. Not a bad thing though cuz they allow all parts to support their singing with less restriction, especially jonni. erik is a great lead too

  • @rickyrudd28gt ...and they have a gold medal to prove just how overbalanced they are....pfffffft !

  • probably the only quartet where the bari and bass are the two shortest members.

  • i know, its wierd that isnt it?

basses always tend to be rly tall =S

  • not always...

One very notable exception comes to mind.

  • Cory Hunt?

    =P

  • Jim Henry?

  • or really fat!! :-P

  • I think it might be an issue with the recording, but the bass's voice is WAY overbalanced for this group. I couldn't hear the lead at all for the majority of the song. I love the tune, and this is a nice arrangement, but WAY too much bass for my tastes.

  • That's just Eric. He doesn't put his voice out there like most barbershop leads. VS has a damnnear flawless sound, but, gosh -- listen to some Randy Chisholm if you want to hear an old schooler lay down the law.

    Ainandil

  • I would have to say that you have never heard a choral arrangment (or the original for that matter) because I had no problem hearing the lead. These guys are great singers. Keep at it boys gents

  • This was a song that was sang in 2006 Indiana Harmony Brigade. One of my all time favorites to sing. Vocal Spectrum does it so well.

  • god im trying to lift this song for my quartet and its soooo freakin hard.

i cannot pick out that bari part at all!

  • Their website may have information on how to obtain the original sheet music.

  • are you a bass? I know I had that problem when a quartet I sang with did it. It's easy to sing heavy. I just had to put a lot of air behind it. Worked out. especially on the "good" pick up.

  • im actually tenor..

i got all the parts lifted tho. it was pretty hard

  • same here! man. I'm getting some good progresses on it. Almost done. But the voice crossings between the Lead and the Baritone is what makes it tricky, Also there is one voice cross between the tenor and the lead i think. ahh. good luck with yours.

  • @thecrittman its because he's above the lead for 75% of the song

  • Very nice, all there is to say really.

  • I love that baritones voice!! Jon Moroni right?

  • yea

  • To hear it in stereo, add "&fmt=18" to the URL!

  • WoW they nailed that song in this version. I've seen one of their other live performances though this blew that one out of the ballpark!

  • chris has continually improved and sounds awesome!

  • It's ridulous how well these guys lock and blend, even compared to other champion quartets.

  • I <3 this song

  • Did you mean to say that you ♥ this song?

  • ♥, <3; potato, po-tah-to...

  • Unicode, ASCII. ;-)
