  • "As you see Im 5' 8 and I have quite a bit of leg room back here" Not to be rude but, thats because you're 5' 8. Im 6' 3 and Im getting my G2 on the weekend of the Great Britain GP and Im getting this from my Mom who got a new Lexus GS430.

  • could you have the dog bark some more?

  • Only complaint i have about my Torrent is the turning radius.

  • @MidnightinSavannah I agree. This is the only flaw I find.

  • why doesnt the torrent have a v8

  • my grandpa has a torrent gxp i drove it for 5 hours on the highway for the first time he let me open it up..... lets just say 115 before i even left the onramp aint to bad for suv

  • i LOVE my torrent i would choose over the new tahoe

  • i picked my Torrent over the Equinox because the Torrent has a better looking inside than the Equinox :X besides, i wanted the black/chrome interior versus the tan cloth in the Equinox and such that was available where i was looking.

  • oh and i actually like the sound it makes when i accelerate. it drove a lot smoother than the Equinox when i test drove both of them as well. :T

  • to me the torrent is wider than the equinox but the equinox is longer i like the torrent better though it looks more luxurious on the outside and it is better than the equinox

  • wait what the exact plans for pontiac will be, i'd go with a model range that is cut back, focused more on what pontiac is supposed to be, no vans, no suvs,

  • I got Torrent from rental place, and have mixed feelings about it. Its a decent car, but I will NEVER buy one. Its shit inside. Compare to my 2001 lexus (which cost half the price now)its terrible. The textures are cheap, and gives a wiff of unrefined finish. Torque steer is huge and combined with twitchy gas pedal gives a bad impressions. Other than that its ok. Again I would never buy one

  • i agree with nova, the older version (i also have a 2006 model), the sound at 5000rpm is pretty strange, it does not resemble power, its like a loud purr, not a roar of muscle, and at 5000 rpm, the acceleration isn't that noticeable. If passing, i prefer to keep it at 4000, at a higher gear. so if 5000 would be 2nd gear, id prefer the 3rd for passing. Other than that, I am satisfied, the interior is impressive. Lots of legroom.

  • forgot to add, I like the headlights of the torrent better than the equinox, i hope the torrent stays and the equinox goes. Plus, in the equinox, the muffler in the back stands out more, in the torrent, the back bumper is partially light grey which blends in with muffler on the bottom. makes it look much nicer.

  • The max torque for our 3.4L is at 3800RPM so anything over that is, well, overkill. And kudos for the legroom! :)

  • I jsut bought a Torrent Gxp and its pretty cool I took out for a test drive and im going to pick it up next week, comes with alot fo features and im happy

  • I love my Pontiac Torrent. And I love the sound of the engine.

Top that Ford, Toyota, and Honda!!! Don't think so.

  • nothing better than being satisfied with your purchase. Good to hear!

  • Me too, it sounds like a sports car huh? The low-end power is incredible but passing is so-so. Still, my Torrent is freakin awesome. It kills me that they're axing my baby in 2010. When it is axed, hopefully the Equinox will inherit the Torrents nicer interior!

  • Too bad your torrent will die in 4 years.

  • Your rather harsh on some of the points of this torrent, exhaust, braking and throttle tip in. You do realize this is not the only model of the Torrent its the sporty version and if your not happy with the specific GXP package the non GXP models will probably not exhibit any of the "problems" you experienced with this model.

  • I do agree with you on that point, I didn't get a chance to drive any base model Torrents so I had to review what I was given. I liked the vehicle, put I thought the attempt at "sporty" was a bit pushed.

  • One thing is for sure: The 3.6L DOHC sounds smoother and more willing to rev. I have a 2006 Torrent with the infamous 3.4L and let me tell you, the sound is NOT fun at 5000RPM. Sounds harsh... :( However, it very versatile for carring hugh amounts of cargo, families relatives and lots of groceries! Hehe!

  • you're right about that, the 3.6. is eager to rev and smooth when you do. And yes the Torrent/Equinox do have great cargo abilities. I'm also a musician so I often judge a vehicle by its ability to carry my gear (amps, cabinets, guitars, etc..) and the Torrent with the 2nd row down swallowed my gear no problem!(you can check out my band on itunes: Subtle Groove)

Check out my other reviews and leave me some comments too, I appreciate them.

  • i love the sound of the engine.most cars on the road have plastic, bmw etc....its just for looks, its not like your going to drive down the road touching it.that sound is from the muffler there are four two in back and two arond the engine.infiniti makes the same sound ,but if you were driving it you would say the engine sounds great.that engine made wards top ten list check it out and you will see.
