i have thsi game when it first came out as I love flight sims.

Always used to play IL2 sturmovik 1946 on full realism but woah!!! Black Shark takes realism to a whole new level I jsut had to give up in the end was too technical even for me.

Might reinstall and try the dumbed down mode. I have the manual printed somewhere - liek about 350 pages long - eek!

@stilness285 Yes but if you buy an upgrade to Blackshark 2 through their official site(20 bukcs I think) you can merge the game with DCS A-10.

These games are not just a sim. They are 'study' sims akin to Falcon 4.0 and its many incarnations. Only DCS series are even more precise and detailed. Feels great when you master the many systems. It takes patience and passion to get the hang of this game. But it can also be played in a much more tone down gameplay but part the fun is in mastering it.

Exploding UH60 BlackHawk is another bug because in real life blackhawks NEVER EXPLODING WHEN CRASH, LAV25 APC's armor is badly modelled. 7:46 You are silly? You can't destroy HAS by gun, by VIKHRs too, this can be done only by S13 or bombs.

@Pilotbrate6435 Hey silly... DCS A10C is a standalone sim, not a addon for DCS BS. I seen A10A addon for DCS A10C, but A10A is poor and if you want to fly A10A better choose is a LOMAC or LOFC.

DCS BS is so good, but automatic startup is the poorest thing in DCS BS ;) if i first time started DCS BS (not on my computer) i learned the startup procedures, with english cockpit this is very simple. And some about twist rudder: much times i using twist rudder in helicopter simulators, but sometimes i using pedals form steering whell, but my pedals are not accurate. Everywhere in helicpoters bombs are fun, but salvo is not good idea. ONLY DRUNK trying blown up AC shelter by cannon!

HAHAHAH ya i'm not sure what i meant there.  Yes the game is outstanding, and you don't need to know how to fly a real heli before buying this game. There are many different modes from arcade to full sim, and you will see that it's a lot of fun. Enjoy.

@skinnadoor I suppose you have a huge knowledge of Helicopters in the first place, or did you just read the manual?

Also, have you ever tried Lock On? That's complicated too, so complicated I rage quit to HAWX.

Only Sim I can actually play is IL-2 Sturmovik, and that's because the planes are far less complicated due to it being set in WWII.

Well, I can also play Armed Assault 2, but that's less complicated too.

You have to have external views checked off in options, and when your playing, hit F2 for the external views, most of the F buttons are views.. hope that helps.

Great sim but hard as hell to fly just like the real thing it's very unforgiving. Runs fine on my dual core 2.8ghz, 4gig ddr2 mem and ATI 5770 setup on max detail.

Just make sure you have the Trimmer button, and Trimmer reset mapped to your joystick, makes flying it easy. point the nose where you want it and hit the trimmer button, let go of the controls for a sec, if you get messed up, hit trimmer reset. Hope that helps.

@usmcpvtswat Yes you will, the CPU is the most important thing in these kind of sims, a quad like yours does the trick, the ATI is good, I have a 5770 myself, a little better but it doesn't make much difference, the CPU does.

I don't think there is a demo. But you would be safe with at least 2-4 GB of ram or better, dual core or better, PCI-E vid card..... at least 512mb, and a half decent OS, like windows 7 64BIT.

Keep in mind, this sim like all the rest runs best on a machine that has been formatted using the windows DVD, a fresh install so to speak. If your pc is from best buy or a retailer that has pre-installed windows for you, performance will be lower because of all the store softtare.

When starting you only open the fuel cut-off valve once the engine speed is at least 2200 rpm or something like that. It must be tied somehow into the actual engine starter motor, or fuel pumps. Either way, it sounds like you fried the engine starter motor/break the starter motor shaft itself or damaged a fuel system component while trying to open the valves at the wrong time.

Somebody try this and please let me know what went wrong and what can be done to recover the engine in this condition, without having to restart the flight!:

When one engine is idle, put it's cutoff valve to shutdown position and while the engine is shutting down put it back to startup position and let it there...!

You'll notice that if you try to restart that engine, the EGT will show some increase, while the engine will remain at 0% RPM!:(

Neighter false start or crank would rise the 0 RPM!

Enemy Engaged I suppose. Unless your 10 year old is an aviation nut with a lot of patience. He MIGHT appreciate Black Shark. When I was 10, I used to have a lot of fun with a high fidelity space shuttle simulator back in the day. I didn't understand half of it, but figuring sophisticated sim stuff on my own created such fond memories of my childhood.

Most kids may want something simpler though, Black Shark is a true to life simulation with a complex cockpit environment and avionic systems.

Well, you can lower the difficulty levels next to nil, making it almost as easy as a console game.

I use a Hotas Cougar stick for LockOn and FSX. How would that setup translate over to flying the Kamov KA50? (is that the correct aircraft here?) I'm definitely not going back to kybrd., and can't afford another stick. Also--does this sim support 6DOF for TrackIR?

I can barely fly the choppers in BF2,.(for example, no amount of practise has ever enabled me to successfully 'funnel' fly, I just keep crashing without even a hint of funnel flying). I reckon I'd get so bored of this in such a short amount of time, I'd just resort to cheap-ass crash-bombing, (kamakaze), in Bf2 like I usually end up doing, not because I WANT to, but because I'm just so crap. No offence against this game - I'm sure for those with better hand-eye-co'ord' it's great fun.

The graphics are excellent, but Black Shark is not a crazy system hog, so i'm sure you will be fine.

@blackeagle989444 you obviously either havent played blackshark, or dont know anything about the apache. Even before the longbow upgrade, the apache had far superior imaging capabilities, and the dedicated gunner/pilot configuration has been proven superior (hence the ka-52 being 2 seats). The apache also has better target acquisition and designation systems. The Ka-50 is relatively primative as far as modern helicopters go, and im willing to bet most other russian aircraft are too.

also the su - 47 hasn't even came out...

the difference is the U.S could afford way more fuel therefore train more, unlike russia ( who were once good but know soviets are gone..)

but i say the KA - 50 is the best att heli in the world.

Maybe I can answer that. A laser sensitive receiver (the eye, if you will) can see the laser light that makes its way back from the illuminated object. Most surfaces do not reflect but rather disperse laser beams in random directions including the direction of the illuminator itself and the sensor. which is a good thing because if tanks were made of mirrors, which reflect and don't disperse, laser ranging would'nt work on them unless the laser beam falls in in the correct angle to be picked up.

my pc died the day I got the sim through the post which was gutting. So I hooked up my old pc, just to take a look and get some familiarization in. Its a athalon 2.5 running at 1.8ghz, 750 odd mem, and a geforce 6600 256 card. Its running the sim, at about 5-12fps, lol. piss poor, but at least Im getting used to all the dials and buttons :)

Right now i'm running black shark on a freshly installed version of Windows7, 64bit. With a dual core chip, and 6 GB of DDR800.

You can fly the shark 3rd person if you like.... and 100% i can let you know, that she's worth paying for the store bought dvd.

Realy is a blast to fly... and extreem detail, on all aspects of the warfare and equpment.

That is just the ABRIS navigation system. The other computers, like the weapons computer, the shkval, the other navigation system, autopilot computer, etc. all have their own virtual RAM and CPUs, relative to their real-life counterparts.

Yup, i too am very eagar to try out Track IR4. I'm just using my joystick hat switch and i mapped zoom in/out to the 2 buttons on my stick.

You DEFINITELY need Track IR. It will exponentially increase the realism factor of the sim.

I'm still getting used to the instruments in BS. So far I'm impressed and am glad I bought it.
