  • will is my hero

  • music has been my greatest passion since I was 10 years old, buying elton john and beegees going through the smiths, REM, nirvana, oasis and I can surely say Will Sheff and his okkervil river are the best things my ears have ever enjoyed. A rare treat to the ears, the mind, the soul and the heart I hope they make music forever.

  • Will Sheff aka Da Truf

  • and check out belle and sebastian

  • meh, they're alright.

    okkervil river totally owns them.

  • Heck yes.

  • Hey iamcoolalot, I remember seeing them on a show called subteranian. On that show they performed a song about the rolling stones movie, "Give Me Shelter" They may have just improved it but if you know what the song is called, please let me know, thank you. I couldn't find any info by google or youtube.

  • When I saw him live it was amazing. He talked to the whole audience as if we were his old friend. Everyone felt included in the show as if he was sharing his super Will energy with us. Lol Love the whole band!!!!!

And I find it amazing how he sings so clearly and enunciates each word!

  • marry me will?

  • Okkervil River best band ever formed.

  • I love Okkervil River to death, but I believe The Stage Names doesn't have the same life and heart that the other albums had. I know a bunch of new fans will give me tons of thumbs downs for this, but just think about it. A lot of people praising The Stage Names are not familiar with their older albums at all which were golden and amazing albums. I really tried to like The Stage Names, but it's missing something that all the other records had.

  • it's different, but not worse. not worse at all.

  • It is different. But hey, if emotionless mediocre albums are your thing...

Regardless, if you were familiar with the older albums, you would see just "different" this latest release is.

  • it's all opinion, guy.

and your last paragraph doesn't make sense.

  • Good job at reiterating what I just said in a shorter way not including the last sentence.

If you're here just to flame me, go elsewhere. I'm just expressing how I feel about the album. You don't have to get upset over it.

  • I've loved Okkervil since my first spin of Dont Fall in Love... and from there I bought the definitive BSB and Down the River... then the Stage Names, downloaded Golden Opportunities and then bought the Stand Ins and saw them live.

Although The Stage Names was different I have no idea how you can call it mediocre and emotionless. For me, it's only topped by BSB in quality.

I can honestly say, that although it is different than BSB

  • i really like this guy. like someone said below me, he is really modest.

  • will sheff is amazing and humble :)

love the band, Okkervil River are fantastic!

  • your an inspiration for up and coming songwriters around the world who don't have access to the greatest equipment and take a risk in order to persue something more meaningful in a very pretentious world. Thanks mate.If things ever seem to hopeless, just move to Australia, we love you down here.

  • As long as your recording, your music will out live you. Its great gift for the future generations. Thank you.

  • I don't think it's the album of the year. Still, it's a pretty good album. The next one will probably be the best.

  • Okkervil River is great.

  • Now, what makes will a poser? Do u even know, or did u just say that out of no special reason?

  • horrible?? you're actually saying that "the stage names" is horrible!!! how could you? it's a master piece. it's the album of the year, for sure!

  • did that poser really say that the last album horrible? wow, how naive. stop listening to this band right now. and stop "watching this video everyday".

  • that guy has some serious balls (or no balls at all) for calling that album horrible.

    Thier best album ever

  • Just because he didn't like an album doesn't make him a poseur...

  • He seems a bit shy, don't you think?

  • so talented and still so humble :)

  • How Will Sheff and Jonathan Meiburg aren't two of the most praised and recognizable indie rock artists is beyond me. I mean, both Okkervil River and Shearwater? You have got to be kidding me. God bless these guys and keep up the incredible work.

  • Genius. Great lyricist.

  • brilliant words.

  • No worries Will, you're very successful.

  • Is he? There are many people, myself included, who think this guy is amazing, but that doesn't mean his life is wonderful. He's obviously not very financially secure and I'm sure there are a host of other problems that he didn't care to cry about to the world. So, "no worries"? Easy words.
