who`s the gobshite in the blue!! i would have edited him out totally..he was an embarracement to this film fooage!..that cockhead thinks he`s a smart arse and he`s not!
I saw the jodrell bank dish from up on Winter Hill one time a couple of summers back when I was up there with some friends, we had a video camera with us & as I was panning round with it, I spotted the dish through it, it was definitely the dish at jodrell bank as there's nothing else like it around that it could've been. Was much harder to spot with the naked eye though, but it was a hazy day as I recall so obviously the clearer the weather the better the view. It is stunning up there deffo :)
i live in wigan were if want to go to the hill its about only 17 mile if you follow the main road, if go upto billinge hill you do get nice veiw of the hill.
The transmitter has a MASSIVE TV and Radio coverage! from South Lakeland, part of the IOM, all along the coast to N.Wales, plus Central and West Lancs, parts of East Lancs,North Lancs, odd high pockets of the Yorkshire Dales on the Lancs side, and even goes down to pockets of shropshire and even Stoke-On-Trent gets a signal!
Winter hill is a must for anyone who lives in the North-West! You can see the mast from over 60 miles away at night, Southport, Blackpool, Liverpool, Manchester even as far south as Chester!

The section on the murder of a scottish traveller is incorrect. He was killed in 1838 and not 1938.

I would love to see what the view would be like from the top of the mast.
