Procter & Gamble is still the world's #1 advertiser on TV and radio- they had PLENTY of products to pitch on their soap operas and other series they "sustained"....matter of fact, Joy was also "pitched" by Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore (in charcater) in several 1963 "integrated" commercials on "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW", which P&G primarily sponsored throughout its original run.
I love the woman who says: "You've found a way to make dishes shine." She says it so naturally! That, plus her hair and her dress are so damn pretty. Love this commercial.
@RichHartley1969 She seems so intrigued. As if getting your dishes shiny was the most important thing in the world. I love Mary Louise's smug reply! So sassy! Kind of sexy too! LOL!
Little did the viewers know, the housewives were actually at an LSD party. So they spent the whole night looking at their reflections in various shiny things.
Well, naturally! P&G produced a lot of soap operas over the years that they'd need commercials for. Two of which (As The World Turns and Guiding Light) are still on the air.
I LOVE Mary Louise Wilson! Got to see her on B'way in a revival of "The Women" in 2001!

That china is the Centura line (pure white, no ornamentation) by Corning.
The hostess of the party is Mary Louise Wilson who played "Ginny" on the "One Day at a Time" series in the mid-1970s.
Thanks for posting this commercial. My parents had the same exact Centura china when I was a child, and it was nice to see it again.
