yeh, love watchin this vid too when it happened....fantastic! have you ever heard phil fronting an earlier band called white buffallo? the album "last of the v8 interceptors' is just amazing and phil in a different guise, rocky and edgey. nicely produced album too,
Love this track, I went out and bought the album the next day. I first thought Phil was american even though he was working in my local record shop in Fulham.
Interesting observation that he would American. Strong U.S. and Canadian influence with Dylan and Neil Young. I just wish an American audience would discover him. I've been a fan for a long time now.
Like this live version so much better than the one on the album, "Fresh New Life", (less restrained) but this is still my favorite Phil Campbell song. I think the album version has removed some of the emotion you see here. I love so many others of his songs, but I always come back to this one.
Awesome song, so happy to see this again! Learnt the song by watching it over and over again. I've finally written it down, so if you want the file send me a message and I'll email it to you.
my sister accidently got him into Phil's mini album when she worked for EMI. Does anyone know a decent place to buy the guitar tab for this song....really would rather like to try it out
Same as everybody else has said really, just watched this for the first time since it was broadcasted 11 eleven years ago, & like everyone else, followed the guy ever since! I know it's a cliche, but ''Fresh New Life'' really is a lost classic!!!! Saw him in Worcester last year & seeing him in 2 weeks time in Birmingham..
Many thanks for sharing [would love a copy of this - VHS/DVD/] ;-)
Saw this WHen it was broadcast and Video'd it but tape got wiped years ago....Thanks big for this post..its awsome live preformance always liked the guy since !
I drove from oban to perth the day this was broadcast. hogmanay. anyone that knows the road will appreciate the value of driving daylight. those same people may appreciate how annoying an extra cup of tea in oban is - third auntie twice removed.... that year was a big freeze. we arrived finally to perth and to my sisters place. the pipes were frozen. perth was freezing. and the windows had ice. remember that? as to the song. i searched it out after all these many years. and will do so again.
Great to see this. I saw Phil originally in the late 90's as the support act to Mike Scott in Cambridge and have followed his career ever since. Fresh New Life is still in my all time top 30 albums.
Fantastic to see this again. Followed Phil since that episode really hope he gets the publicity and acclaim he deserves. Resigned to a major label and currently supporting David Gray. Look forward to seeing him on the next series???
F**k! This was the first tine I was introduced to Phil all those years back & I subsequently went out & bought Fresh New Life from HMV! If you have never heard that album you should track it down. Every song is an absolute classic, a couple of real tearjerkers on there too.
Phils 'fresh new life' is on Ebay.

Obviously you know nothing. He's been around for more about 15 years.. You'll catch up -- eventually (hopefully). If not - no loss.
