I have an akita/husky mix, too. Only he's more Akita than husky. The opposite of yours, actually. He's great with grooming; loves it, actually, until I reach his flank. I use that method of really quick, soft, gentle strokes which helps a lot. One thing I do need to point out: Not all dogs like being bent over the way you bend over yours. In fact, your dog showed signs of insecurity and nervousness(yawning, face tense, licking his lips) Your dog didn't show aggression, but some dogs will.
My husky actually loved the shed'n blade. I didn't even keep it in the loop, just took it out of that little notch thing and held it above her and she'd walk right through it and let me brush her. Was a good thing since they got so much freaking hair.
please tell me what is the music's name... i simply love it!! :).... very nice tutorial video btw! :) i really learnt alot from it :) always wished i could learn how to groom a dog :) 10x :)
Use sheddin' blade on "niece"...Shiba staying with us while "mom's" on vacation. At first didn't want use Sheddin' Blade my sister left us - looked like torture device. However, is one of her favorite things. Seriously, she all but fell asleep the other day when we were grooming...makes her SOOOO relaxed. Didn't want apply ANY pressure with it...afraid hurt her - but found being way too gingerly...Gained confidence, now stroke her with light but firm swift strokes...she gets soooo relaxed!
