I spent some time with the people of Milolli,Hawaii, and they were some of the best people I ever knew. Those memories will always be special to me.Maholo Bruddah Iz,for this song, and all your songs.Rest in peace.
Beautiful! Just like all of Bruddah Iz's music! i could listen forever to this music. RIP Iz....you are still magnificent here!!!! God Bless You and your family...:)
While saying my prayers for Hawaii (and all the others) today I could not help but remember this beautiful song by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and the beautiful video you made.
I encountered Milolii quite by chance. I picked up a disheveled hitchhiker on the side of the road on the way to the volcano who asked me to drop him off. We wandered down miles of dirt road till we finally came to Milolii. He told me about winter waves that broke over the cliff and rolled into his house (really just a shack). I looked over the bluff at the ocean 35' below and that gave me some idea of how powerful these storms must be. Peace.
i think this song is beautiful, love iz's voice & music, didn't know what the story was behind the song, thanks for sharing & explaining, beautiful miracle, beautiful song!
Thank You for posting this song. Iz had a hauntingly beautiful voice. You can hear the passion in every song he ever sang. He truly had a special gift that touced so many people.
Spadecaller, I have been to Mililihi and I marvel and the history and the proud people who live there. Half Moon Bay is my paradise and I hope to live near there and become an islander someday.
Beautiful video. IZ is always awesome. We need new words to describe how Iz put his soul in his music. No slight intended but do you think Prince or Mick Jagger etc ever
Thank you kamakatexas for the share, I have held off this long from viewing this because I didnt feel like letting my emotions loose. Thank you again dear friend Shirley I will message you in a bit.Much love to you my friend and thank you Thespadecaller for posting this wonderfull song.
Another fantasic song by IZ. Each one I discover is a new blessing. I got so wrapped up in this one, I burnt my breakfast, but just like IZ, "I started all over again."
IZ lives ... there is no doubt his SPIRIT is alive and well, and touching us new again!
Aloha, Goodbye to your old life, Hello to your new!!! Till we meet in Heaven ~
Located a translation this a.m. on Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame site. The miracle of the story is the children from the school had been rushed to the safety of caves in the mountains above the village. The tears of joy when the parents found their children alive.
Again, Spadecaller your video is remarkable and I thank you.
Thank you. Mahalo nui loa. Tusen takk. Arigatõ gozaimashita.
