  • Sounds like Catfish Blues. Also, I've never heard SRV use that 12th fret high E and 15th fret B string bend, but I've heard Jimi go it A LOT! Hendrix also does those bends in Manic Depression.

  • In music theroy the question is called the cantasedent and the answer is called the antecedent! great playing and I'm buying that SRV guitar today Im sooo excited!!!

  • i've gotts to get me an electric guitar

  • WOW!!! Anthony, what a terrific lesson...I was just going to start working on that Catfish Blues opening riff...thank you!

  • The thing that impresses me most about your playing is not your speed or tone (which is amazing) but your control of your axe. You just play with such skill.Thats what I'm aiming to achieve. By the way, how hard do you press when playing licks like these? Just wondering.

  • @yorkeysa Pretty hard. I play for keeps.

  • @gr8bluesgtr most badass thing ive heard all day

  • @gr8bluesgtr Always play blues for keeps. Great playing, love Hendrix blues rhythm. One of my bigger influences.

  • @yorkeysa just follow ur feeling

  • What's your setting? Phenomenal sound!

  • @gonzalomichilot You're going to have to watch all his videos to find out... But that's a pretty cool experience in itself.

@gr8bluesgtr Your tone gets more and more impressive with each video! No need to comment on your excellent playing.

  • What's your overdrive pedal?

  • @TheVUP i think a digitech jimi hendrix pedal, ore something of the kind.

  • @TheVUP Not using any in this video.

  • @gr8bluesgtr still got the wampler? man that's nice sounding.

  • @gr8bluesgtr well it sounds great!

  • Dude i recently discovered you because my old teacher on youtube was kind of getting too easy for me (MArty Schwarz, respect dude). And i seriously have to tell you, you're awesome and your teaching me what i really want to learn ! Only played 1 year and 4 months now but you discovered me a whole lotta new stuff

Blues on dude, blues is the way to go

  • kind of off topic here, but i was trying to get a good look at your pick up height. Do you set them by ear? Yours seem considerably lower than my ts's. But your getting a pretty awesome tone. I had mine where i liked them.. but then tweaked them and now cant seem to find the sweet spot.

  • Good lesson. Thanks for posting.

  • good video dude. i can see how u would be very helpful to a lot of aspiring blues players needing lessons \\m//

  • yea it's friday!!!!. catfish blues

  • Thank you, Anthony for yet another incredible lesson!! :) I look forward to next friday already! :)

  • And God said.....let there be Hendrix. And there was Hendrix....

  • Thank you so much Anthony! It's always a pleasure to watch your video lessons.

  • very John Lee Hooker.

catfish blues by jimmy hendrix from the "blues" cd

    watch?v=m2aA3VCpTks

and ofc thans for the damn good lessons...love them <3

  • @foxgirl38 Catfish Blues is one of the best examples of what I'm teaching here. I LOVE the Hendrix Blues CD. Nothing else like it.

  • @gr8bluesgtr

The Jimi Hendrix: Blues album is good, but my absolute favourite is Raw Blues, which unfortunately is only available as a bootleg I believe. The first Villanova Junction jam is almost 30mins long!

  • @gr8bluesgtr There was a radio station near where I live that did some kind of thing where they played a bunch of songs from a single CD, and I tuned in right near the end of the Hendrix Blues CD. I went out and bought it shortly after, because it's definitely amazing. Nice lesson - I've figured a good chunk of this out myself, but there are definitely a few new licks in here, and a few tips to better play that which I have figured out.

  • @gr8bluesgtr Yeah, I think that Hendrix's Blues is ´the best blues CD I've ever heard. What a guitar-player!

  • ah its on YT too :P

    watch?v=_y2_aDVWfJc

the song you play in this video is on the cd too btw :)

  • -What's your name?

    -My name is Anthony!

Haha, you make it so easy to understand!

I just love your free lessons and your premium lessons is awesome as well :)

One of the reasons that I started to play guitar was because I heard Stevie, and I'm just so glad that it is someone out there who not only loves to listen to his music, but also teach licks and riffs in his style.

    Thank you!

  • dont know if you did but you should listen to jimmy hendrix "blues" cd

last numer of it is "hear my train comming"...that song just blows my mind :)

  • Wish i could play like that.

  • OMG, awesome tone!!!

  • Very nice, thank you so much for sharing.

  • Anthony, would you be willing to do a quick tutorial on how you set up your amp? I love you tone!!!! I know some of that is the guitar, a lot is you and some is the pedals you use but, the amp tone sounds so full and 3-dimensional. Please do a tutorial on the amp!

    Thanks!!!
