Foggy Mountain Breakdown for guitar

left hand fretting will be the easiest part if youve been playing for 10 years...... but the hardest part will be the right hand roll and of course its in the family of travis style picking....so yeah , it will take 3 to 5 years to get that right hand technique just mediocre for the roll and just as long to learn basic travis picking. This guy has been working that right hand into shape for 20 years.....I dont advocate tabs very often but in this case you had better have a look...

That stretch from 3rd fret to 7th fret is awesome. Does it hurt your hand after a while? Could you give us a little tutorial on your picking pattern. I'm assuming it's close to Earl Scruggs. Do you only pick with thumb, index, middle finger? It's so hard to play acoustic flawless, you're one of the few that can.

It's about time i seen somebody actually play it on a guitar besides my friend who makes it sound as if there is a banjo playing as well. He doesn't use finger picking he uses a regular pick but this is the only time i've ever seen anybody come as close to him in the skill department on guitar with that song. Awesome job man.

Day 5 of trying to play this and I'm still working on the intro. Had to incorporate pre- finger stretching to even come close to playing the intro. Martin makes it look like a walk in the park and he could catch some z's while playing it. Actually the ease at which he does it is the only thing giving me some shred of hope that I'll ever be able to play it. That and the fact he said it took 100 takes to play it as perfectly as he does in this video. If I get discouraged, I just watch it again:o)

@spoofus007 Thanks! Well the NT2-A Rode mic I´m using is very good and not so expensive. They also have specific video mics and the straight forward NT3. There are probably hundreds of other great condenser mics, I´m sure, but I have only tried the ones from Rode. Good luck!
