Since the police can't arrest the senator(for misdemeanors, or a small offense, and not to say what they did was offensive the police would have probably found one), they just have to watch, and i sure as hell bet they would have intervened if Ron Paul wasn't there.

A Senator or Representative can be arrested for misdemeanors, but they can't be arrested when they are about to vote on something. That law was established way back so that corruption couldn't muscle its way through by arresting certain congress people just before the vote. BUT, you're right, no one is going to arrest the guy who started the end the Fed movement. Its just bad publicity.
