Last year I posted this vid for my niece as her dad had passed on many years ago. It would only be less than a month later my dad passed from his fight with cancer. Agreat song but I can never listen to it without massive tears.
The first time is listen to this song was live 2 days ago... I did not know who neal morse i just went to see mike.!! Now i am hooked.. !! Big up neal.. and fuck dream theater for doing this to MIKE..!!
it's nearly six months since my father died and it still hurts so much. But then you listen to a song as powerful, heartfelt and poignant as this and you feel just that little less alone....
Sometimes Life is insanely bad for you! and hummm... You know... this song talks it all about that! and that photo that you put on the video it´s actualy a cover art from Dream Theater´s Train Of Thought´s booklet! ;) right? and i guess it´s between two songs i don´t remenber whic songs are...
Having just lost my dad to cancer, I find this song comforting. I remembered listening to it a couple of years ago and often thought that when this day finally came that I could reflect back on these lyrics. A great band of our time. Thanks for sharing.
Luc Gaudet Transatlantic;Juste 6 pièces...mais 3 heures de show!Onnnn!!!! 1-The whirldwind entracte 2-All of the above 3-We all need some light 4-Duel with the devil Rappel 5-Bridge across forever Fini? 6-Stranger in your soul Jamais vu autant de talent sur un stage;j'savais pu où r'garder!!!5 musiciens complètement hallucinants,... 36 hours after is dead by suicide.
@plombex You know Charly Boy ! everybody cry ! specially when it's about a good friend ! We all need some light now to help us accept what happened and REMEMBER our friend at his best ! See ya in Cyberspace Man !
@samthekatalyst There's a fine line, read the more info, it'll show you that if you let the lyrics and music affect you, only a great song is left. It's like watching a really cliche film, fully aware of the standard and predictable storyline, but loving every second all the same. There's something about this song that seems more heartfelt and sincere than most.
Music is a message within itself. Doesn't need 'religious' lyrics to make me feel 'inspired' to be a better person. Don't mean this as a dis to Neal Morse, he's one of my favorite musicians.
The DT pic is actually pretty fit for the song, "There's a bridge made of light, that crosses between death and life. Where's shadows walk in the sun..." The pic does an interesting job of describing the song. "One day a child and an angel stood on by the side of a magic river..."
For Michael, Paige, Paul, Anthony and my Father, friends and family that all went too damn soon in their lives . . . may you take care of each other and the ones you love, I miss all of you, and one day, we will meet on that bridge. Now you know the mysteries of life :') -MAVIII(prOgulus . c O m)
simply gorgeous and moving...lyrically and musically...one of me fave Transatltic songs...i saw them live at Toad's Place in New Havne Ct...AMAZING...
Isn't that an image from the Dream Theater's Train of Thought? Lol...anyhow, this is an awesome song, i'm starting to like Mr.Morse more and more, and this is certainly one of his best compositions i've heard so far! Thanks for posting this man!
A true masterpiece of power, raw emotion, and simplicity, a subdued arrangement that nails the essence of the total experience one has listening to this song... And the voice? A perfect fit... This is one of my all-time favorite songs -- thanks for finding and posting it 19702407!

He played this song at the end of the service, He was a man who touched my heart so deeply,
this song was the most perfect song...I too find it very comforting. We have a bridge across forever that
starts in our hearts.

Gives me goosebumps every time. His voice is exquisite, not a big 'message' fan, it's the music I live for.

I pity anyone who claims music is somehow less valuable on its own terms than as a vessel for a "message".

Thats probably because Mike Portnoy, DT's drummer is one playing drums for Transatlantic
