had nothing to do with the Attack sleeve huh. I think a realistic example would be some one "CALMLY" walking towards the boy then making a move to abduct him. A person that has bad hidden intentions are not going to let it be known by talking like a crazy man. NEXT...you make a jacket to fit OVER the attack sleeve so the dog does not see "it" and just think, "O this is YET another DRILL". when you do this and he reacts the same way ,THEN i'll be impressed.
The sleeve acts as a highlight to show the dog the best area to attack non-lethally, when presented with an attacker without the sleeve it'll probably go for the same spot.
OMG THATS THE BEST AND CUTEST DOG IVE EVAR SEEN!!! I am a 12 years old kid and i hope my little german shepherd grows up to be like that, this video inspired me to train with him more
"Hey kid what are you doing here?" (Implying the kids trespassing) "Is that a nice dog?" (still being polite depite the kids trespassing) Kid- "Spot, attack the landowner whilst I make my getaway!" Hahahahahaaa, great vid though, I mighta chose a more threatening threat though, lol ;-)
@berniesdp84 if you would have noticed the Chance gave Manny the attack word. and the Chance had every right to say it because he felt he was in danger. and Manny isn't a violent animal if you ever owned a dog or even knew anything about them you wouldn't say stupid things that you know nothing about. Nice job Chance i know it take hard work to teach an animal to listen on command
My GSD will walk beside me without a leash but I have to give the heel comand at least a hundred times while walking. She does heel but I have to keep telling her. How do I get her to keep her concentration on me like this GSD in the video? Shelby concentration is broken very easy. Any advise is greatly appreciated.
dawwwwwwwww<3 my shepherd Wendy loves everyone especially kids. she's playful and friendly and loving. however, if there is someone in the house she doesn't like or she sees someoen getting a litle too close to me, she WILL kill for me and the family. i love her more than anything else. GSD<3
i got a German Sheppard and i know she would protect any of use at any time but its hard to believe that cause shes so nice and playful with the family
@SinkorSwim1000 — I have a German Shepherd in a townhouse. He's the best boy ever! the love of my life. But I would not recommend if you don't have at minimum an hour to spend every single day without fail taking your GSD out for a walk and doing some kind of ongoing training. GSD's are super smart and they will get bored easily, and with boredom comes things like digging in the garbage, chewing your shoes, constant barking with that great big GSD bark, etc.
were can i get a dog like this cuz im looking to buy 1 4 christmas even tho im 13 im saving my money up to buy a dog like this and i really want to look into this i already have over 3 hundred dollars how much do they cost please reply back or anyone that has info please tell me
@DZYLX Other family members need to work with the dog; specifically by motivating the dog to perform commands and reinforcing them consistent with the primary handler or trainer.
do you find it easier to train a male or female german shepherd puppy? I'm getting one in two weeks and have the choice between a male or female. The female seems to be more bossy, and alert she was also the biggest of 9 pups... both the male and female seemed great. Any advice on which one I should choose or your experience with male and female shepherds?
@eLGuapoXXL The sex of the dog does not make it easier or more difficult to train. Genetics and proper upbringing (ie. training and socialization) are what makes a great dog. The size of a puppy is not always the tell tale sign of how big it will be as an adult. I recommend taking the pup out of the pack into a new or neutral environment and interacting with it one-on-one, you will see more of it's individual characteristics. Good luck!
@eLGuapoXXL if you get to take your pick out of the litter I would recommend taking a rag with you and playing with the pups to see which one has the most drive (desire to play and chase)
@eLGuapoXXL I was offered the pick of a litter but i went with the runt because i didnt want the biggest dog and as it turned out the runt grew up to be the biggest.
German shepherds are great dogs, I've had them all my life. About a year or 2 back we had one named Whiskey, while growing up if me or my siblings attempted to walk out of the yard or onto the road he would guide us back up. just shows how smart animals can really be. We had 4 german sheps at the time. One was police trained, And another is around 175 pounds biggest shepherd I've ever scene. My dog is cross with pit n him and is 9 months and weighs 91 pounds.
beautiful dog, my german shepard has been ruined by my family i had him well trained then when i came back home after a year he's a completely different dog im so disopointed...
@jmh30us When the threat is extinguished (bad guy gives up) the dog no longer needs to bite or engage the person and should focus back on the handler.
That is one great dog...you can tell he know's that the boy is in charge...the way he sticks to him like glue and looks at him while they are walking :)
This is such a wonderful video. I see dogs now who are way too prone to attack and don't want to let go. Perfect example of everything a GSD should be.
i plan on getting a GSD, and was wondering how do you keep up with the shedding and their hair? because from what i understand they shed alot and as much as possible i would like to keep mine as an inside dog, but would still like to maintain my home? just wondering!
wow amazing i wish my girl could do that!!!!!! shes already proven to be very protective of me haha. what did he tell Manny to make him stop and how could i get my german shepherd trained like that when i live in Louisiana? any suggestions? =)
Is all German Shepherd trainable to be protective gard dog? We adopted an one year old GSD, but he is so loving. I don't see any dominated behavior in him at all. Is he still trainable?
@groschj1 Not all German Shepherds are suitable for the protection training. If you are interested in having your dog evaluated locate a professional dog trainer that specializes in protection training and they can assist you. Best of luck!
i miss my gsd i had him for almost 9 months but my mom called him dangerous when he barked at a kid who was throwing rocks and sticks at me i have 3 vids of him on my page and you can tell he was not a mean dog
@doglover091 no he was just being protective my gsd once barked at a kid who was hitting me and he wasnt even really being aggresive just annoying(the boy of course) she also gets really suspicious if a man she doesnt know walks near me!!! but besides that she is as spoiled as she can b just a big baby who loves to get her tummy rubbed shes completely harmless and loves kids!!! LOL XD
it possible to traing german shepards because my uncle got 1 showed us to train it it loved everyone but someone broke into the house the dog did everything it could to kill it work but the guy hasd a gun the never made it

@snowblind1985 The winter photos were taken around the same time as the video. The couple of other random shots were taken a 6 months and 18 months (approximate) before the video. Manny is still alive and well, he loves to swim, track, and be with the family.
Im a proud owner of a German Shepherd. These dogs will take a bullet for you and fight to the death. Other dogs will just hide behind you. German shepherds are so nice and kind. I can't wait till we get another GSD.
@wonderandwhisper A stable tempermented, confident, and well trained German Shepherd is far from a violent dog. The dog in the video (Manny) has earned the Canine Good Citizen, TDI (Therapy dog), and Schutzhund AD.
@neumank9academy violent was the wrong word to use. i should have said the strongest such as pits, rotties, etc...those kind of dogs will also give their life for you. that's all i was saying.
@wonderandwhisper shepherds will do what they need to on comand and to protect their pack i know this because our police force use shepherds and i have one of my own hu will act aggressive on comand, but not bite
hey. im thinking about getting a german shepherd. im 17 and turning 18 next year. i have a massive acreage but no fences. will i require a fence? (hope this isnt a stupid question) also, are they difficult to train (i have never had a dog since parents have told me i need to be older to be responsible in the last few years). and also for them to be protective, do they need to be trained properly?
@CookiezxX The dog needs to have the right temperament, drive, and training to do this type of work. The training enables you to put the behavior on command so that the dog has a clear on and off switch. Excellent question-
@CookiezxX A great way to train dogs to do this without developing aggression is to cultivate a very strong play drive. By making an "assailant's" arm the dog's favourite toy (and only available on command) you can teach the dog to hold and subdue a person while keeping it under control. Many police dogs are trained this way.
As Newmank9academy says though, the dog must have the correct temperament and drive in the first place for this type of work.
German Shephards barely need training. They are already instinctually protective of their family and extremely alert to most situations. They always seem to know exactly what to do. Awesome dogs.
that was great training i think i should train my dog to be obiedent and protective.and also im getting a 1-2 month german sheperd but it will take it a long time to grow up.and also the reason i said 1-2 moths is because my friends cuzins dog mad 8 baby german sheperds but one of the died.
ok dude please post a training guide on how this kid did this i would love to do this with my dog good job your one of a kind! ive never seen a trainer and dog work so good with eachother!!!!!!!!!! this is art!
i have a german shepherd only the iron one. They are grey and twice biger theregular ones. Its the best dog in the world without eny trening, nobody who is not in the good mood is not welcome close to me. Unbelivebol smart
I met a kid that was afraid of dogs today... and personally growing up with several dogs, I've wrestled with several german shepherds and even had 2 dogs attack me at the same time...
They're not all that tough :P
They're scary, and fast... uncoordinated... and very, very playful...
Very nice looking dog you have, but for protection?... Dogs have the most pressure points on any mammal known to man, easy to sub-due... if you know what your doing that is... XD
@zerotankor ya buddy im pretty sure you could sub-due a police dog? thats why they use them so the criminal doesnt escape cuz when the dog rushes u its gonan fucking hurt..

So yelling at a kid gives you permission to set a trained violent animal loose on someone? I think that's more commonly referred to as assault...

neumank9academy is correct but (in my option) males tend to have more prey drive than females which is important in every aspect of training dogs.

@JoeA320Pilot all the most violent dogs will do just what u said, not just germans.
wonderandwhisper 1 year ago

(hope this isnt a stupid question) also, are they difficult to train (i have never had a dog since parents have told me i need to be older to be responsible in the last few years). and also for them to be protective, do they need to be trained properly?
thanks:)

how did you train that dog to do that type of stuff or is it natrual?

Do you have to train a german shepherd to do that or is it in them?
CookiezxX 1 year ago
@CookiezxX The dog needs to have the right temperament, drive, and training to do this type of work. The training enables you to put the behavior on command so that the dog has a clear on and off switch. Excellent question-
neumank9academy 1 year ago
@CookiezxX A great way to train dogs to do this without developing aggression is to cultivate a very strong play drive. By making an "assailant's" arm the dog's favourite toy (and only available on command) you can teach the dog to hold and subdue a person while keeping it under control. Many police dogs are trained this way.
As Newmank9academy says though, the dog must have the correct temperament and drive in the first place for this type of work.

Wow, your dog needs to give my dog some lessons.

German Shephards barely need training. They are already instinctually protective of their family and extremely alert to most situations. They always seem to know exactly what to do. Awesome dogs.

What a beautiful dog. Chance, I wish you lived nearby because I'd get you to train my unruly Lab/Collie mix.

XD
zerotankor 1 year ago
@zerotankor ya buddy im pretty sure you could sub-due a police dog? thats why they use them so the criminal doesnt escape cuz when the dog rushes u its gonan fucking hurt..
