If Yu Suzuki want's this game made without Sega crying about losing money, then they should do a split deal with CAPCOM, who can then do all the fighting mechanics, and possible the graphics. They are probably the most successful company around at the minute, it seems like a no-brainer!
I know the fighting system in shenmue is virtua-fighter based, but Capcom are the only people IMO that can do a better job.
Finally I have the chance to fulfil my dream by having a closer for the this amazing wonderful game that took years of my life playing dreaming and breathing with MY FAV. character Reuo

Just resist the urge to set the game in a fantasy world. yes use dream sequences and mythology, but the strength of Shenmue was the ordinariness of a living city or town in the evolution of Ryo's quest. Thumbs up if you agree please.
you know what...Sega needs to team up with Tecmo and problem solved. Tecmo is one of the most successful companies in the fighting game genre's. not only will they improve graphics(yay) but gameplay as well. But just a dream...we'll see.

Also it's been close to 10 years since Shenmue 2, another 10 years from now everyone won't care about it anymore. 20 year wait is too long for another game to come out. Half Life is the only game I know that can survive a long time and still be wanted crazily.
I been a Shenmue fan ever since I bought and beat 1 & 2. Sorry to spoil the fun but Mr. Susuki stated that Shenmue 3 will not be released any time soon. Maybe its because Shenmue isn't that famous and doesn't want to spend millions again....

And if moneys a problem, they should make it as a downloadable game for the ps3 and xbox 360 (not wii cos then everyone would expect some wii motion gimics) because then they wouldnt even be physically making copys of them game, so they wouldnt over stock the game and lose money

Damn, What Really Got Me Into This Game Was The Trailer. When The XBOX First Came Out,In 2000 Or So, It Came With Two "Demos". Jet Set Radio Future & Sega GT 2002. While I Played Those Games There Was Also Trailer Videos That Came With It & Shenmue Caught My Eye And When I Saw It At The Store I Grabed It & Enjoyed It.

that's right... this game cost way too much to make (over 70 million USD). As great as it was, why were they not thinking about the costs back when they made it? Did they just assume that everyone in Japan would automatically buy a DC and Shenmue or something? I remember I first imported it and bought a JP DC, it sure cost a lot of money (and my personal time) but it was worth every penny/second!

It truly is depressing that Shenmue 3 may never come out. But Sega claims that Shenmue Online is definitely going to come out, eventually. There may be a faint glimmer of hope.

@nskachu your right, but it cant be on all the platforms, if for an example they team up with M$ then it will most likely be on the xbox, but you do have a good idea, sega should consider that. All consoles are great but if i had a choice, I'd rather have this game on either the xbox or the playstation, because of the speed & graphics. And if you think about it, Sony, & M$ should each be begging Sega to make this game & offer to help them out because it would bring them in some serious business.

Here's hoping they do finally release the full Shenmue saga one day. I read that they plan to port the entire legacy, I, II & III into one huge Xbox 360 game. if they do that, I don't care how the hell much it costs, I'm definately going to pay for it.

I then found out that apparently its been developed and they are in waiting for a deal with either xbox 360 or playstation 3 to port it, although xbox 360 has already placed a future TBA date for the games launch in the uk and europe. Shenmue online is still going to be finished and sammy will be involved with its development. I also think the online version should be left alone and better off scrapped.

1. The footage in the video is from shenmue online as an image of what could be seen in shenmue 3 (im presuming thats what you meant).
2. Platform is unannounced.
3. Shenmue online was a whole new game for Pc which allowed players a chance to run around china and do stuff online, not following the story of shenmue. It has recently been cancelled.
4. Even if shenmue online was still in the making, I would not recomend it at all.

NO NO NO, if this game doesnt hit shelves, its gunna piss off alotta fans and sega will probably lose alotta credibility as well. This game could go great on the 360 console, especially since Shenmue is still being awaited by so many fans, the wait would most likely be worth it as long as they spend proper time on the game

@nskachu your right, but it cant be on all the platforms, if for an example they team up with M$ then it will most likely be on the xbox, but you do have a good idea, sega should consider that. All consoles are great but if i had a choice, I'd rather have this game on either the xbox or the playstation, because of the speed & graphics. And if you think about it, Sony, & M$ should each be begging Sega to make this game & offer to help them out because it would bring them in some serious business.

No you are wrong my friend, the song is called Lux Aererna composed FOR the movie Requiem for a Dream, Lord of the rings just used it, and anybody with half a brain can realize that the movie Requiem for a Dream was not about the screen play there is MUCH MUCH more meaning to it than meets the eye. It was nominated for 32 awards also. If you can handle a much different take on life itself and what makes people happy I advise watching it.

Here's hoping they do finally release the full Shenmue saga one day. I read that they plan to port the entire legacy, I, II & III into one huge Xbox 360 game. if they do that, I don't care how the hell much it costs, I'm definately going to pay for it.

I then found out that apparently its been developed and they are in waiting for a deal with either xbox 360 or playstation 3 to port it, although xbox 360 has already placed a future TBA date for the games launch in the uk and europe. Shenmue online is still going to be finished and sammy will be involved with its development. I also think the online version should be left alone and better off scrapped.

Tawianese Game site interview with Yu Suzuki. He is asked about the console series:
"Yu-san wants to complete the story of Shenmue. He knows how the fans want it,
including the petition held in the US that gathered 20,000 signatures. Unfortunately,
there's no concrete plans for the development of the sequel yet, but if it'd be decided
Yu-san himself would like to direct it, no one else. So, the fans shouldn't worry!"

1. The footage in the video is from shenmue online as an image of what could be seen in shenmue 3 (im presuming thats what you meant).
2. Platform is unannounced.
3. Shenmue online was a whole new game for Pc which allowed players a chance to run around china and do stuff online, not following the story of shenmue. It has recently been cancelled.
4. Even if shenmue online was still in the making, I would not recomend it at all.
