gil got it right fo sho !!!.. why cant guys like this get into politics !!...we got pricks in charge of governments all roiund the world!!..people who know nothing about life as it is!!!...
This song was written in the early 70's and in nearly 40 years nothing much has changed......in the 80's (during the reagan aera) america hit ROCK BOTTOM (I mean for the POOR)......then came bush sr......and then bush jr........and you could have played this song and it would feel like its a song that has just been written......I hope people recognize this and make the right decision in 2012
It's time of crysis and this is a face of United States now, but Gill had been painting it in this song since 1974 as well as these images do, though they refer to a successive time. Anyway, we have to reflect......................
Nobodys fightin because nobody knows what to say! Maybe we dont know cuz as a Nation were stuck on stupid! Wisen up , my fellow Amerikkkans. This tune is like 25 years old and we STILL aint fightin cuz we dont know. At least the ppl at the health care town halls are standing up.
The image at the beginning showing the homeless street woman grabbing a discarded drink out of the trash to take a drink while traffic whizes by is a powerful and disturbing reminder of the everyday reality for too many US citizens.
I wish you would have included more prominently the images of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Bobby and Jack Kennedy to illustrate the refrain "Yes and all of the healers have been killed or sent away,"
It is such a complete and total travesty that such conditions exist in America today--even if this particular video footage is slightly dated I can assure all who read my comment here that things have gotten a lot worse due to the current economic conditions.
Truly, it is still very much "Winter in America."
I really like this song. I just heard it today on the Weather Underground documentary. I've heard his stuff before, and always liked it, just never picked any up. Is this the original version? Is it on the album of the same name. I heard another one on here, but like this version much better.
feels a bit akward to thumb up this video, but hey it's very well put together, isn't it?
