What a work from theirs i did come across long time ago btw . Paradoxically being little guy i still keep on my mind this one song and i 'd risk today music makers get yourself completely out of any invention how to came about with catchy music at all. Perhaps times passed by and whole this stuff will be never repeated :(
Anyone else get image get images of being a passenger in a car, driving down a street with yellow street lights and going at 70?? Then watching it back in slow motion?? Cause I do!! :))
@asspennie wikipedia shows me the 1978 single was mono. A new rerecorded version went onto 1980's travelogue album. EMI then remixed the original 1978 single to stereo and released it in 1982 as a single after don't you want me, probably to make some fast money off of fans who weren't paying attention and didn't realise they were buying an old tired new wave rerelease.
@girlie347 yawn. this is not the 80s version, girlie who wasn't yet born. This is not even the Travelogue re-recording (1980 isn't actually the 80s, btw) which features completely new/different instruments. this is the 1978 single version. stop prattling off 3rd-party factoids you found on the interweb. are you familiar with the term "primary source"?
@fuckamericanidiot there's no year "0". so in one sense 1980 was the start of the 80s, in another sense, 1980 was the last year of the 197th decade. like: what was the first year of the 21st century? 2001. the year 2000 was the last year of the 20th century. yeah...kinda arbitrary.
always makes me laugh when tossers come on and slag a video or song off... if you dont like it just simply FUCK OFF... go and find something you like...

Listen to the voice of Oakey. Saying he's got a new single called Night People. Little people like his offering, knowing that an album called Credo is coming...
yesterday when i found this song i felt so cheated ^^ i mean i always love to discover "new" great songs from the 80's and this definetely is one. but there is that english rap song of the afro-austrian band "aphrodelics" that features all of the music from being boiled. it is from 1998 and i always loved it. now i feel so cheated by them ^^ i am only gonna listen to being boiled from now on :p
No, not just as a 7 inch. At least not in Europe. I still have a german extended 12 inch. But for the U.S. a lot of those new wave tunes were released many, many years later, like "garlands" by the cocteau twins and stuff like that...
I heard it also on NDR 2 on April 16th 2010 ca. 18:15 h for the first time since ca.1986 (Radio)...I was really surprised, but it was a wish-ceremony. But still great! And I heard it too in Berlin before Ultravox entered the stage...from the tape before.
@Mr18051980 well, I think it's a little too "underground" for most radio stations that play '80s music... they usually focus on the bigger hits by the Human League like "Don't You Want me Baby" or "Human"
@Mr18051980 The same they don't play ANYTHING good on the radio? At least the Human League get about 6 tracks altogther (not great at all I know!)-Kim Wilde gets one (her 1st and least exciting debut single), OMD, Bangles get scarcely better, and Alphaville and Sandra (being non-UK & non-US creed) get nothing! Lovely pathetic hell radio is isn't it? Blame Madonna the trash, retarded arsehole djs, their bullshit playlists, sponsors, programmers and worse! Bastards!

Absolutely brilliant in every respect. They were up there with Throbbing gristle and Cabaret Voltaire in pioneering the "industrial" rock/techno sound.
In '82 the record company EMI re-released the '78 Fast version to cash in on the success of Dare. It's exactly the same version except it was an edit with 35 seconds knocked off and a fade-out instead of the original abrupt ending. That's the only difference and is not a 'remake' just a reissued edit. Production was the same. In truth there's only two versions of Being Boiled; the '78 version (+ it's '82 edit) and then the dancier version released on the Holiday '80 E.P. and the Travelogue L.P.
Nah, sadly not but there is a dance version released a few years later with disco hand-claps, horns and a full-blown production. It can be found on the Travelogue album and is very different but definitely worth getting.
Type in "Human League Being Boiled Travelogue" and it should come up for you.
Uusaly i dont like 12" because its too progressive, i mean you can dance to something in multimix, and BTW you could try editing the track in FL Studio, Reason, Goldwave, Audacity, or some other audio and music editings/developing software, might be too hard course you cant edit old tracks that well.
