Watched the movie for the first time last night. Loved it, but ended up stopping it about 15min before the ending because I was too afraid to watch it - knowing it would not end the way I wanted it too. I did eventually, and as predicted, was wailing by the end. How anyone could choose someone else over Rickman's character (even if he was dead) is beyond me. He's gorgeous, even with the mo.

This song is so very beautiful... I heard it before I watched Truly Madly Deeply and when I saw Alan pretending to play it on a cello in the movie, I actually cried... Thats how much I love him and this song <3

Caroline Dale played all the cello used in the film she won young musician of the year.. and is a fantastic cellist.

The piece is Adagio from the Bach Viola de Gamba Sonata BWV 1029.

Alan did a pretty good mime though he looks like he might be a bit of a cellist!

I thought so too! Alan (dont take me wrong, I don't have this fixed image of who's a cellist or who's not)looks like a cello kind of guy-he looked so...acustomed to even miming the cello in Truly Madly Deeply that I had assumed that he had played a bit at one point in his life. He is a very multi talented guy. LOL, he sings, he dances, so why not play the cello as well? Thanks so much for telling me the exact name of the piece-I've been trying to find the piano part for the wonderful piece.
