Expecting the people left behind to be someplace they are unable to be is more to do with how uncomfortable they are making the people around them than it does with the grieving people. My grandfather recently got pancreas cancer, they put him on morphine, oxy cotton and some other pain meds, when he finally came back home he couldn't talk, he couldn't walk and I had to carry him to the stairs so he could go to the bathroom...
