While I agree wrestling was more "entertaining" back then, how could wrestling today ever be as enjoyable if you CONSTANTLY compare it to the old days? It's the same as thinking cartoons were better when you were a kid. Of course they were better, because that's what you grew up with. There's a lot of really good stuff going on today, you just have to know where and how to look.

Wrestling won't ever be as enjoyable as it was back in the 80's when you had JCP, WCCW, etc. I've never thought the WWF/WWE was very good, even during the overrated attitude era. Vince killed the business years ago. That's why i'm glad we have youtube to re-live the glory days. Not saying the small promotions aren't better than WWE. Frankly, how hard could it be?

@bull864 For you perhaps. Eras aside, I enjoy the artistry of the actual wrestling. Wrestling in the 80's was very cartoony and goofy. The focus was far more on the characters than the athleticism. I'll watch the artistry of Daniel Bryan Danielson over the incoherence of Dusty Rhodes any day. Vince didn't kill anything; wrestling got huge for awhile and he took advantage. And after every period of popularity there's a drought. So tired of people crying about the "glory days".

@theDyingWhale Wrestling in the WWF was cartoony and goofy, not in WCCW, JCP, UWF, AWA, CWA, etc. And yes, Vince killed the business. He changed the way the fans viewed it for personal gain. He broke kayfabe and ushered in a Jerry Springer type era. Once you break the unwritten rules, the product is finished in many ways. The ONLY way Vince could compete with WCW is change the rules and push the envelope. The old school promoters would have bowed out gracefully (which they did).

@bull864 There's still so much excellent wrestling out there today, though, and so many amazing wrestlers. ROH and NOAH more than make up for Vince's monopoly on the business, however unfortunate their lack of circulation to the mainstream.  The fact that so many "old school" fans declare the business dead because all they see is WWE just further gives Vince credence to carry on. Wrestling changed, it didn't die. That's the way she goes, boys.
