The person that intends to do harm will have plenty of time to find a way to take away your weapon, or to get it and use it against you if they see you are carrying it out in the open. The best thing to prevent violence is for the person intending to harm you not know if harm will come to them because you might have a weapon. That is the reason for concealed weapons.

Even further, trying to "get your gun from you" just because the other person sees you carrying it... If someone's determined enough to hurt you to try that, they likely already have a gun.

Secondly, to answer your question in the simpliest terms, some people don't feel comfortable with others having firearms around them. So concealed weapons is the best of both worlds. You don't have to know I have a weapon and I don't have to be without one.

If one state makes it harder for everyone to get a gun, criminals well just get them from another state. The difference between the state level and the national level is that there is free travel between states without any sort of boardguard.

but if it wasnt so the criminals would still have their firearms. Even without free travel from a gunloving state to a gunsupressing state u cant enforce the gunlaws. nothing will ever stop the determined, but take locking your door for example. A locked door isn't going to stop a determined thief, but it will stop a would-be thief who will take the oppurtunity if presented but won't go above and beyond to do something he percieves as illegal. tougher gun laws won't stop the determined,but it would discourage the causal would-be troublemakers that would find it useful to have a gun.

and laws can be structured to make only the intend targets the victims.

U got a valid point. But at the same time, tougher gun laws would defenitly encourage the more common determined professional criminals. To know for a fact that you wont get shot at while breaking an entry will defenetly make criminals more bold in their activities. Even most criminals thinks twice about putting his own life in danger.
