  • Just wondering, which of the ones you played do you enjoy to play the most?

  • @TheMasterRum Hard to say. But Pieces of eight is fun to play.

  • OMG! Heromoded, you played Pieces of Eight! My favourite Dennis DeYoung song ever!

  • I HAVE NO WORDS TO THIS... I JUST CAN SAY: MAGNIFICENT

  • the best of times was damn good, as well as the rest of em.

  • Nicely done, nicely done indeed. Being a Styx/DDY fan since 1976, it's nice to hear some of the classic keyboard riffs combined into a medley like that. If Dennis were to hear that he'd be proud! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I like the way you arranged the order of the songs and thought it was very apropos to end it with State Street Sadie. Great job! PS: I'm a keyboard player too!

  • Fantastic!

  • That was absolutely wonderful. Any chance you might record it from a different angle so I could see your fingers better? :) I am stuck at a few spots.:)

  • fianlly someone actually played it right. sounds beautiful!

  • That was just awesome. I was especially thrilled with State Street Sadie at the end. What setting do you use to get that honkytonk piano sound? Love it !!!1

  • @pbarber307 Thanks

The setting is regular piano. It's just the style of playing that makes it sound like honky tonk.

  • Would you mind telling me the order of the songs you played. I know a few of them, but then I can't think of some of the others. It would be great if you could tell me. Thanks :D

  • @jbart141

  • Awesome job... I used to play some of these songs (by ear) in the early 80's, but I never sounded that good. I wish I could play like that. Thanks...

  • thank you

  • AWESOME!!!

  • wow that's Cool piano playin Buddy

  • seriously u got some mad skills dude...ur awsome...im just surprised there are more ppl in the world other than me who still love the old stuff!!!!

  • Thanx.

The old stuff is the best.

  • dude, Styx is my most favorite band ever and this is THE BEST i've ever heard anyone play that stuff. FREAKING FANTASTIC JOB!

  • Thank you

  • Wow, best covers that I have heard on YouTube. You rock!!

  • thanx

  • Thank you very much.

I agree with you 100%, Dennis Deyoung is Styx, and always will be. Tommy Shaw and James Young were important pieces in the band, good musicians and song writers, but the heart of the band was DDY. Styx is what they are because of him.

  • I have to agree with everyone else on this... Absolutely the best Styx covers on youtube. Not only were you spot on with every note of each song, but another thing that won me over with you is the fact that you played some of the songs that are not even well known styx songs... Pieces of Eight was brilliant, and i haven't seen any other attempts at it on youtube. You, my friend, are as good as Dennis in my opinion, and after he left, Styx suffered a major blow. Keep playing my friend!

  • r u dennis deYoung? if not, geez u sound like him

  • No, I'm not Dennis DeYoung, but thanks, best compliment I could ever receive!

  • I'm 49, Thanks for the memories

  • wow. amazing. job.

  • You are the first person who covers Styx on piano to earn my respect by doing so. Congratulations. Seriously. That was really good, especially compared to some of the s**t you see on this site. Any chance you could post the songs you played? I couldn't recognize some of them. Cheers!

  • Just to clarify, I couldn't recognize them because I don't know them, not because you played them badly. :)

  • ThankYou.

All the songs that i play are listed in the tag.

  • Oh, I see. Thank you. I hadn't noticed.

  • if you have sheet music i'd love it if you could send it to me

i bought the styx piano book and its all wrong and sounds different

  • I don't have the sheet music sorry, I learn them by ear.

  • Wow..

    Beautiful songs and beautifully played.

    Well done.

I hope I can play somewhat like some day =)

  • thank you!

  • can u do this very slowly and teach me lol

  • Dennis' hands look skinny :)

  • he's been on a diet

  • i can listen to you all year. very good and right up my alley !!! that's my funk !!!
