  • It is a flat out shame that I just discovered this band about three weeks ago. Was in record store and the guys started playing this vinyl lp and I was like "what the heck is that?" lol It was jammin'. I had him take it off and put it right in my hands. Been discovering them every day since.

  • The album cover shows your classic 70s design of a number.

  • I love it when on a video of my favorite artists some d...guy compare my favorite bands with Pink Floyd or Jimi Hendrix.( It is always when the vid has alot of views.)

  • Yes.. they are incredibly underrated, but if you think from the artists perspective, it's better off this way. I for one would feel a greater sense of accomplishment if I wouldn't make it to the top of the music industry, but after a few years be discovered by a handfull of people, that would say: This is it! This changes my view on things.

That, for me, seem not too far from romantic.

What good is there in a legion of fans, when only a few of them really understand you?

  • @megafucker2 what if they had a legion of fans that all understood them?

  • @Adamboms That would be rad!

  • Mike is great, this album is without Mr. Wyatt.

  • This album was in my High School library. I took it out on loan. This was maybe late 1984. It's a wonderful thing when thoughtful little treasures find their way into mostly conservative institutions.

  • Pink Floyd but with jazz qualities. The 2 bands were connected... Great great stuff..

  • couldn't agree with you more bozack :)

  • Amazing band! I heard 5 in 1974 being a big fan of progressive rock ( King Crimson, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Yes ) and all of a sudden i heard Soft Machine 5 and Ian Carr's Nucleus. It was a turning point in my preferences, thanks for posting!

  • Even the cover tells you that this is something else!

  • what year was this?

  • @rhcpfan2030 1972

  • great

  • I was fortunate enough to see Soft Machine live three times in the mid 70's. Unforgetable experiences!

This is my favorite album and track.

How could Mike Ratledge give up music, an incredible talent?

  • This album is as good if not better than third.. some of it had already been tried and tested on the Peel sessions with Wyatt on drums. Great band.

  • Such an awesome album and tune!

  • most underrated band in the entire world.

  • how could you possibly know?

  • because i know more about music than u!

  • pretentious prominence is never good...

  • you brought it on yourself.

  • Ideal J - Uniquement que pour les miens enorme outro d'un album magique
