  • One of my all time favorites. What a voice!

  • i remember doing this song in Grease the musical. so much fun!

  • o, yummmmmmmmm

  • A professionally trained voice pays off in the long run. Among many other things Johnny gives vocal lessons these days. I'm looking forward to seeing the post of his touring schedule for 2012 soon!!

  • Thanks for the answer!!

johnny Contardo in his latest picture on this video!!!

    He looks fantastic!!

Still sounds GREAT, I found him on a Video singing " Under the boardwalk""

    Thanks so much!!

  • @cynthia6637 You're very welcome Cynthia!

  • IS THIS JOHNNY CONTARDO IN THIS LAST PICTURE??

WITH THE GRAY HAIR, OLDER NOW???

    WOW!

    IF SO, HE LOOKS FANTASTIC!!

    SURE IT HAS TO BE!

    LOOKS GREAT

  • @cynthia6637 It's all Johnny my friend!

  • "THOSE MAGIC CHANGES"!! GREAT SONG

LOVE THIS CHA CHA DANCE- FROM JOHNNY CONTARDO FROM SHA NA NA*******

WOW, HE STILL SOUNDS GREAT , SINGING WITH THE GROUP THE EARTH ANGELS!

  • QUE VOZ NÃO ME CANSO DE OUVIR!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Parte favorita: HHEEE HE HOOOOOOOO HEE !!!!!!!!

  • Favorite part : HHEEE HE HEE HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  • great voice!!! he could have hung with the "heavies"!!!!

  • Have you heard Johnny do Crying? He could have had tons of number ones

  • I often wonder how popular Johnny would have been if he were singing this in the late 50's or early 60's ... much better voice than Avalon, Fabian Rydell etc ... and not meaning to knock those gentlmen who were great performers in their own right ... yhx Mr Contardo

  • @ahstc1973 Honestly, he probably would had hit in high numbers. The 3 you mentioned were considered pretty boys with Rydell having the best vocals of the 3 which couldn't come close to Johnny's wider range. Johnny had the pretty boy looks along with the vocals. I really think he would have been real huge. I wonder how he would have sounded w/ a group like the Del Satins backing him, one can only imagine.

BTW I'm a Rydell fan & do like Avalon & Fabian, so I'm not knocking them either.

  • @dowopper51 I agree 100%!!! Contardo has a tremendous voice. Did Fabian really sing? Another performer who deserved greater recognition is Jerry Vale.

  • What a voice...

Johnny Contardo is now into a great cooking show..

The best movie of my generation ( Grease )

    Thank you for sharing

  • I always loved watching Sha na na on TV and loved Johnny's voice, but I think Clay Aiken has a fantastic version here on youtube as well...

  • @clayeyes Clay does a good job no doubt but he lacks Johnny's falsetto. Johnny can hit them high notes clean and clear, Clay lacks that.

  • Johnny Contardo...what a great voice..still performing

Thanks for a great song and some great photos of Johnny

    Doo Wop Forever *smiles*

  • Dowopper.. i'm sorry to hear that. I lost my mom in 06 to cancer She was 77, she absolutely LOVED Sha Na NA, when they were on, she just couldn't be disturbed...lol..That is how I found Johnny. 1977 or 78 I believe. I have a vague memory of them on Battle of the Network Stars

    i

  • I never even heard of "Battle of the Network Stars" I don't remember it at all, wow, I must be getting old!

  • It was on ABC in the mid/late 70s, Howard Cosell did the commentary. Lou Ferrigno (incredible hulk) Lynda Carter, Robert Conrad from Black Sheep Squadron were a few of the contestants. What valuable peice of education did I NOT absorb to remeber that???

  • Evidently..spelling..lol I misspelled piece...lol

BTW there are Battle clips on you tube, I just don't remember what year they were on Bowzer and Lenny were on for sure

  • @sweetipie1965 actually cha che scott baio from happy days held the obstacle course record on battle of the network stars! he kick ass for a.b.c.

  • @yukons95 I remember !!! Oh btw...I got to hear Johnny sing July 4th.....He still has it !!! And such a sweetheart! He is a class act for sure !!!!

  • Adam Lambert has NOTHING on Johnny, I've been madly in love with him for 30 years.

  • Adam Lambert can't come close. Not only he can't come close, but from a mans point of view, I can't even look at him, if you know what I mean.

  • I actually heard Lambert before I saw him. I had no idea. I don't watch network tv. But yes, Johnny has the best voice out there. I have to keep telling myself " settle down, you're a grown woman," But I can't help myself, Johnny is positively swoon worthy from this woman's point of view...lol

  • My Mom died in 1995 at the age of 78 & she loved Elvis. She had every LP, every dish, every statue, well, you know Elvis! LOL. The only reason why I'd watch Sha-na-na was because of Johnny. I just got through watching " Sha Na Na - Hey Paula " posted by faerydancer, nice video!

  • Johnny is an amazingly talented man with a great voice, a beautiful face, and by all accounts a really nice guy... doesn't get any better than that!

  • No argument on my behalf friend! I agree 100%!

    Thanks!

  • Thank you for posting!!! I've loved Johnny since I was 13.... that was a pretty looooong time ago!!! LOL

  • perfection is so rare...this song and johnny were made in heaven and will be eternal bliss for many generations

  • Great video! Johnny is the master, one of the greatest voices of all time.

  • so true...so true :)

  • My FAVORITE Sha Na Na song EVER! My gosh, Johnny's unbelievable! His voice blows most lead singer's voices out of the water! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Ahhh, yes, no arguement here! I believe this is him without Sha-Na-Na. It really surprises me that never did anything afterwards with he MEGA voice?

  • Sha Na Na (with Johnny) sang this in Grease! I just love this song! Thanks again for posting it Richard :-)

  • Yes Angel he did sing it with Sha-na-na in Grease, I never seen the movie, believe it or not. I was comparing it to when they sang it on the television show, Sha-na-na backed him then, I was assuming they backed him in Grease, but then again, I never seen the movie.

  • Wow, (Angel slaps the left side of her head in disbelief) .... I can't believe you never saw Grease! The song is on the soundtrack but it wasn't actually sung by them in the Movie. If my memory is correct, "Danny" (John Travolta) "subtly" sang a couple of lines of it in the movie! You REALLY need to see the movie Richard! LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!

  • When Johnny Contardo was singing lead it wss hard to view Sha Na Na as a parody act.

  • Bill this is very true! Actually he was the only reason why I used to watch the program, I hate to say it, but it's the truth.

  • Ahhhhhhhh........me too! Although I loved their choreography!

  • Hi NYDutch! I TOTALLY agree with you :-)

  • Nice tune, Shades of, Sha Na Na.
