If you pause it at 3:10 and look at the position of Bossman's arms, it's obvious there is some sort of harness under his flak jacket that held him up by the underarms. It was a clever trick though. I'm stunned at how many people have commented that they thought Bossman was really hanged, or even was killed here. Flexing the neck muscles and holding your breath prevents any possible collapse of the larynx. So while it's not the most comfortable thing in the world I'm sure it was practiced several times before the final execution to test for safety. I'm sure Bossman was given an epic payoff for putting himself in such a compromising position to create this epic moment
