Tuba takes more air but has less pressure on the mouth, trumpet takes less air but puts a lot of pressure on the mouth. French Horn is the most difficult of all brass instruments.
i could probably see my friend doing that, she one of 3 girls on our tuba line, 5'2 and she outplays the rest of us, even the seniors. she has a new sousaphone which puts out more sound which helps a little. i have an older sousaphone and i tried keeping up with her once and i'm still working on it, but it's HARD! and sort of embarrassing considering i'm 6'1
Hahaha, I'm a trumpet person. On a tuba, I can play about 2 notes before having to take a breath. Haha. Trumpet's take about 1/8 of the air a tuba does. Hehehe...
trumpets dont actually take up more air, but flutes do because they dont have any of the resistance (ie pipes) that the air has to travel through. We all should be sorry for flute players haha
@animereader1 I actually play both flute and tuba, and they actually take about the same amount of air. That's why I was told by my brass band director that it's a pretty good switch. :3

Flute and tuba actually take about the same amount of air. I play both. Tuba's just fuckin' huge and flute wastes a lot of air and no resistance.
