This is a very good design tho alil over complicated. simply wrap a bunch of sparklets in sticky tape or duct tape whatever and leave the tips out attach the cut of end wires and stand it up with those, works very well.

Are you using hardwood dowels? some small balsa box-stock (square stick) would be way lighter.

if you grind up the sparkler dust so that the wire isnt there, it works better, also pack it as tight as you can for best results and be carefull, it burns REALLY hot!
