This is an odd model in that the fuse looks like the C182 - rear side window and the rear window, but then it has the verticle stab and tail wheel of the C185, and that registration, begining with 'F' would make it registered in France.

This plane is extremely nose heavy. I suppose it make it less likely to stall but it flies like it's loaded down with lead in front. VERY UNREALISTIC. It is quite scale however. Wonderful flying aircraft, MAYBE?, if someone set the thing up right it would surely look alot differant. The landing looked terrible and quirky and unsmooth due to the heavy nose configuration. I've seen alot of planes set up this way and it really makes for a terrible looking flight.
I Have the Durafly Big Cessna which is essentially almost the same plane. You can install some Hobbyzone Supercub LP floats and they work great!! They even look more scale then these oversized ones in this video. Don't get me wrong though, this one looks nice . Just wanted to pass it on because it works really well.
Just bought one of these. If you want better service and prices on this plane go to Toysonics I saved $60 off of Banana Hobbies and they even gave me it in a 5ch with 2.4GHz 6ch radio, all for 279.99 W/ shipping. Banana Hobby wanted $335 with 2.4GHz, charger, and shipping. got it all and saved $55!
@bosnianbombfreak your welcome. The champ is a fun little flyer for your backyard, but the supercub is big, recuires more space and doesen`t take as much punnishment, but it behaves more like an airplane.
It is your choice, but I would do what I did, I took the champ first and then the supercub.
@flyboy83297 You mean the rudder on the pontoon, right? It started off with one, and ended with one. You only need one rudder to steer it. You're not exactly racing F1 on the water.

Beware of this company. I ordered Monday, waited for an email that never came so I called them Friday. Guy I spoke to said that it was out of stock and a new shipment just came in and it was going out that day. 8:22 "really nice scale passes!" I don't think flying low at full throttle is classified as a scale-pass, since the speed, the altitude and the bank-angle at some points is done a lot more agressive and fast by you than the real plane in live action actually can perform. Still some nice none-scale flying though!
@tommern89 , Just have some common sense. Meaning really nice scale is more of appearance not being exactly same as the real plane ! , Few years back you could only get the scale appearance plane if you would spend big bucks. Just see the good things than having a useless criticism.
I didn't mean the LOOKS of the plane, it is really good looking (I have the C-182 version), what I meant was his FLYING! He said he was flying "scale-passes", when he in reality was flying high speed, low, unrealistic passes most of the time! :)

Nice flying Pete. When I tested this bird from EDO, it crashed on first flight. Main Strut bar came out. Also try doing a full normal loop and see wings snap :). I then advised EDO model to put carbon tubes or bars inside the main wing to strengthen it. Seems they did it, cuz your flight shows main wing is very stable. also owners should tape the battery compartment cuz on windy days due to gusts, heavy battery takes the strapes n hangs out. LOL. with some preflight work, this is a good plane
Thanks for the useful information! I built her stock and overall I found her to be a nice plane all together. I do not see any issues with my struts or my velcro so far. The batter bay is rare earth magnetic, so I can see that a piece of tape would not hurt. The main wings are really strong on the spar. No flexing that I can see. you wanna re consider buying this big foamie. I had issues when i tested it. wing struts come out during flight, battery pack straps are glued on main body using a wooden bar that looses its place on jerks due to heavy battery, main wings will snap if you do loops without careful control and plane is way too light for windy days. do not fly it on windy days lol

@bananahobby Pete, Redblood797 was asking about the differences between the 185 and the 182 from EDOMODELS. Both have the same 1500mm wingspan, and are available as float or wheeled. 182 as tricycle arrangement, and 185 as tail dragger.
@Redblood797 I got the mini cessna 182 from the e-domodel ( from a different source ) and it is a great plane. Better than I was expecting. Check out their website . their plane come with great systems :)
How would this be for a 1st RC airplane? I have a lot of other RC experience, as well as a lot of flight simulator time, a little time in a real airplane, and even a few hours training on a RC Flight Sim. I kind of think I should start with something cheaper to get started, but this kit looks very sweet and I love the floats as well as the option for installing flaps.
as a beginner you might wanna go with a smaller foamie trainer. This is a big foamie and foamies this big not good as per my experience. when you are experienced pilot, like pete. then its ok to go with it.
This is a nice trainer. If you have time on a simulator, as long as you are confident, you should be able to fly this cessna on main gears. If you choose to, you can start with a 4 channel but in a smaller aircraft as well.
hey pete wow nice controlling that floater with that wind! however i just seen a video of this one guy who had pretty much the same plane just in red decals and one of his struts came off....that means he dint glue it on correctly right? im sooo in love with this plane.....
That guy is me :) and you remember right. I had glued the struts nicely but still it came off, The whole piece that was holding strut glued into foam came out cuz foam broke off, not only you need to pay special attention on strut bars but also you might wanna add some bars to main wing to strengthen it. else see it coming down with snapped wings on loops. Pete is doing loops with careful control. apart from that its a good looking model.
Hmm. I have not seen any issues with my wing struts at all? It may be a cause of bad glue. I will check. This Cessna on floats does not like too many aerobatics. I will toss her around more when I film the video with the gears.
Thanks for the comment! If the struts were to come loose, it is a install fault. Not glued correctly of screw came loose. The one on the Cessna will never come off unless you decide to remove it. Camera grip on this on would be Ben, he's my brother. Thanks again!

Thanks for the comment! The lake where I filmed this Cessna is a sanctioned NAMBA Boating lake and one time a month, our local flying club as full access for a day of float flying. We have a key to a storage with a plastic dingy. In case of water retrieval, we can use the boat and OAR ourselves to the aircraft.

I bought this plane:
It had thirteen serious manufacturing and manual defects that youtube won't allow the space to post. I'll get as far as I can:
2) The entire tail assembly cannot be replaced - it's glued on.
3) The receiver arrived with prongs bent.
4) The tail wing came with a poorly glued part that would not fit.
5) The allen wrench supplied would not fit the allen bolts supplied.
6) The manual is COMPLETELY blank when it comes to attaching the electronics, wires.

@bosnianbombfreak Here is a better plane for you. search for: horizonRC then when your there search for: champ.
This is the plane you should have.
My friend bought one, he was wery inexpirienced but he actually learnt to fly with it.
It can take some crashes too, he was in a loop too low and boom right into a pole. The plane was not damaged at all.
But here is a good tip: when you see that you are going to crash, turn the power off. And you will probably save a propeller and esc.

@bosnianbombfreak your welcome. The champ is a fun little flyer for your backyard, but the supercub is big, recuires more space and doesen`t take as much punnishment, but it behaves more like an airplane.
It is your choice, but I would do what I did, I took the champ first and then the supercub.
But you can probably take bigger steps than that.

Nice plane. I live on a lake and this looks practical, but this guy in this video needs to shorten the part where he talks. He must mention that it is a 185 Skywagon and that it is a beautiful scale over 5 times! lol. It took me overnight to load this video. 10 minutes is waaay to long dude!

Beware of this company. I ordered Monday, waited for an email that never came so I called them Friday. Guy I spoke to said that it was out of stock and a new shipment just came in and it was going out that day. Got an email later that day (sent an email as well about my order) that said they're waiting on a shipment and it won't ship until the next Monday. Got fed up and requested a refund which thank god was quick. Don't buy from these liars who have an F rating with BBB. Spares available...LOL

I don't think flying low at full throttle is classified as a scale-pass, since the speed, the altitude and the bank-angle at some points is done a lot more agressive and fast by you than the real plane in live action actually can perform. Still some nice none-scale flying though!

Floats work great on grass. Better than wheels on small models like this. Just skims on top of the grass, dosen't nose over.

Nice flying Pete. When I tested this bird from EDO, it crashed on first flight. Main Strut bar came out. Also try doing a full normal loop and see wings snap :). I then advised EDO model to put carbon tubes or bars inside the main wing to strengthen it. Seems they did it, cuz your flight shows main wing is very stable. also owners should tape the battery compartment cuz on windy days due to gusts, heavy battery takes the strapes n hangs out. LOL. with some preflight work, this is a good plane

Thanks for the useful information! I built her stock and overall I found her to be a nice plane all together. I do not see any issues with my struts or my velcro so far. The batter bay is rare earth magnetic, so I can see that a piece of tape would not hurt. The main wings are really strong on the spar. No flexing that I can see. you wanna re consider buying this big foamie. I had issues when i tested it. wing struts come out during flight, battery pack straps are glued on main body using a wooden bar that looses its place on jerks due to heavy battery, main wings will snap if you do loops without careful control and plane is way too light for windy days. do not fly it on windy days lol

@bananahobby Pete, Redblood797 was asking about the differences between the 185 and the 182 from EDOMODELS. Both have the same 1500mm wingspan, and are available as float or wheeled. 182 as tricycle arrangement, and 185 as tail dragger.

How would this be for a 1st RC airplane? I have a lot of other RC experience, as well as a lot of flight simulator time, a little time in a real airplane, and even a few hours training on a RC Flight Sim. I kind of think I should start with something cheaper to get started, but this kit looks very sweet and I love the floats as well as the option for installing flaps.

as a beginner you might wanna go with a smaller foamie trainer. This is a big foamie and foamies this big not good as per my experience. when you are experienced pilot, like pete. then its ok to go with it.

This is a nice trainer. If you have time on a simulator, as long as you are confident, you should be able to fly this cessna on main gears. If you choose to, you can start with a 4 channel but in a smaller aircraft as well.

hey pete wow nice controlling that floater with that wind! however i just seen a video of this one guy who had pretty much the same plane just in red decals and one of his struts came off....that means he dint glue it on correctly right? im sooo in love with this plane.....

That guy is me :) and you remember right. I had glued the struts nicely but still it came off, The whole piece that was holding strut glued into foam came out cuz foam broke off, not only you need to pay special attention on strut bars but also you might wanna add some bars to main wing to strengthen it. else see it coming down with snapped wings on loops. Pete is doing loops with careful control. apart from that its a good looking model.

Hmm. I have not seen any issues with my wing struts at all? It may be a cause of bad glue. I will check. This Cessna on floats does not like too many aerobatics. I will toss her around more when I film the video with the gears.

Thanks for the comment! If the struts were to come loose, it is a install fault. Not glued correctly of screw came loose. The one on the Cessna will never come off unless you decide to remove it. Camera grip on this on would be Ben, he's my brother. Thanks again!

Thanks for the comment! The lake where I filmed this Cessna is a sanctioned NAMBA Boating lake and one time a month, our local flying club as full access for a day of float flying. We have a key to a storage with a plastic dingy. In case of water retrieval, we can use the boat and OAR ourselves to the aircraft.
