They're just talking about what happens when it gets out of hand, and when the propaganda is behind a personality cult, as opposed to simple national dignity. The thing that they are underlining in this news story is that a long time ago, people in North Korea were unable to seek the truth about other nations, whereas now, there are illegal alternatives to believing every lie they're told.

What's actually happening is these people have no idea that they are living poorly in comparison to the rest of the world, and that the way their country is run is morally wrong. If they were to hear it, they wouldn't believe it, and they wouldn't accept it. Imagine if suddenly we are told "Africa is one of the richest and most well off continents in the world, the African countries are amongst some of the most powerful in the world" we wouldn't believe it.

Most North Koreans are half-starved, terrified, and would probably love to live in South Korea. dude a couple days ago i went to the 60 anniversary for the korean war here in South Korea. After the memorial we filled helium balloons with little pamphlets and booklets on life in south korea. we let them go hoping some of them would reach the north. it really was very emotional. there was a Korean war veteran who was split from his sister along time ago. she lives in the north and for all he knows, she already dead.

I would also like to point out that while North Koreans are filled with propaganda from their government on a daily basis, that does not change the fact that the majority of them are innocent people. Most of whom do or say what they do for the sole purpose of survival or simply because they know no other way of life. So in effect you are suggesting that we kill hundreds of innocent people simply because it would be the easiest route to take.
