We played this song at my mums funeral. It was one of her favourites. To me, it will forever make me think of my mum who died at forty five, much too young. She's only been gone for a month and a half, this song still makes me cry like a baby. Everytime I listen mum, it's for you.
I listened to this song on YouTube maybe 7 years ago, had about 1000 views at best. Came back to listen to it today. 1 million plus. amazing, people have great taste in music, it seems.
WHO IS RINGO STARR????????????????? and why is he even mentioned with AMERICAN ROCK AND ROLL of the 60's? AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THEY DESTROYED THE MUSIC OF OUR DAY.
This music will never be extinct! Why, because as long as we pass it down to our kids with the memories we had of it, it will always be as CLOSE... AS THE THEIR NEXT THOUGHT.
Sad memories for me. My first love was trying to teach me to dance at the tender age of 15. It was raining and we were on her front verandah with this song playing. Two weeks later she told me she nearly dropped in the previous night with her parents , to meet mine. Coming from a home with two parents alcoholic and the mess this had us in I was horified and ran away from her to avoid the embarresment. So sad. 50 years later I still remember Judy of Adelaide as my first love.
Great tune from the good old days of the 1960's. This song was always a crowd favourite, on Saturday nights (Public Ice Skating). Thank you kindly for posting this all time classic, from the "Roots of Rock".
This brings memories back when i first met my wife 49 years ago. It'll be our song as long as we're together. We're married now 48 yeaurs and still love each other. Our sons are 47 and 43 have a grandson (7) we sure hope to stay healthy to enjoy the music of the 60ties.
I remember that we listened to this in music class one time because we were trying to get a feel for what music was like for each era. I listen to a lot of music from the 1960s and 1970s, so I was good in that area, but when we were learning about the 1950s, I hadn't heard much. When my music teacher had played the song, the kids in my class sighed and said, "That was horrible!" I honestly didn't know what to say. I think I was the only one in the class who actually really liked the song.
@nl1962 I've always only known the Ricky Nelson version of this song so maybe check that one out? Otherwise the car stereo or maybe a different mix of the song by the same artist could have caused the difference in the sound. Good luck!
In a radio station in Monterrey I heard a little different version of this beautiful song, and they named the performers as The Cascades, but I can't find it in no other place. The main differences are a little bass in the voice of the main vocalist and a musical arrange with guitar instead of the sound of bells. If someone knows something about it, I'd appreciate that he (or she) share it with us. Thanks.
i first heard this song on limewire years ago while i was searching for everly brothers the song came up rhythm of the rain by the everly brothers so i listened to it and i was thinking this isnt the everly brothers. if it wasnt for limewire i probably would not have.ever found this song. one of my faves of all time. if i had one song to listen before i died this would be it.
I had a nightmare last night about the love of my life getting engaged and then zombies and stuff happened, but this song was playing in the backround.. I am truly terrified, this song is so beautiful it will haunt ne for the rest of my life.
@MsArrow313 It was mine too when I was a young boy, younger than you are now. I was about 6 or 7 and I played this song (and Del Shannon's Runaway) over and over and over and over and over!
@bethany2781 25 here. Same deal. I tell people that I grew up with this music they say I'm too young to know this music. I did grow up with this music. Elvis fan since two and went from there listening to the oldies station. Glad I'm not alone.
Look, of course you mean well but please do save your time and energy. Don't waste it trying to plant any class of normal optimism and common sense into the peabrain of a whiny brat who calls herself "Emo Twilight" (like that really means something so personally agonisingly DEEP that you would never understand etc). The self-absorbed little Weeaboo misery-guts isn't listening, she's only interested in generating replies.
