I guess nowadays the youngins can't handle anything that sounds real anymore. There are very few bands these days that actually sing live anymore. And the more current bands suck live. TBS is amazing live and I love the fact that they switch things up during live performances.
they totally coulda pitch corrected with an Antares outboard, and set it with a slow attack, so you can't hear it kick in. They coulda turned it off and on at their discretion as well, so mistakes get through on the verses and lend it some realism, but the long notes in the chorus sound better. Loads of bands do this live, and the sound engineer can make it as subtle or as obvious as he likes.
Bands who sounds like they do on CD live is boring bands, just saying. There is so much more feeling in TBS's live preformances and I'm extremly happy they dont sound just like they do on their cd's. We've all heard the cd's already, you dont come to a live show to hear them do a playback of the cd do you?
Both of their voices have been pitch corrected. You can tell especially in the harmony for the word "beg" that was mentioned below. And also if you listen to the Decade Under The Influence video from these sessions in the related videos, you can hear Fred's last "I've got it bad" start shifting pitches unnaturally while holding it out at the end.
Adam's Voice is amazing screw off people lol and also mark hoppus from blink 182 he is so flat live adam is at least not flat he know's he can't sing he just likes how unique his voice is and i do to
@PentucketXC05 AOL and Yahoo do post processing of all their performances and autotune/pitch-correct the vocals on them. Watch any band from the sessions, the vocals are always more in key/pitch. An the slight electronic-ness to it is the autotune. I am glad though that it is not obvious and annoying.
@dadgbe There is no electronicness to his voice... If you listen, there are still the classic pitch problems Adam has and I've grown to love them. I would love to know how you know for sure AOL does this...
@PentucketXC05 Sorry but this song is soooooo auto tuned. I love the band but he can't sing in tune. If you know how to listen for it you can easily tell when a voice has gone through some auto tuning. I repeat I love TBS but it's true, Adam can't sing in tune.
@curlysuedan That's completely false and is just clouded by your fanboyism. Hell, I love seeing them live and they are incredibly fun to see and entertaining, but he really cannot sing anymore. Besides, you can't really hear how he sings with the blaring of the speakers at a concert unless you're at a giant stadium and are in the way back on grass or something
@sk8brder40 you can't say I'm "completely false" if that's my opinion. I think he's great live and his voice is not ruined and that has nothing to do with the fact that I like them. Sorry if they're not up to par with bands like Simple Plan and Hedley that you probably love and are absolutely brutal live. I guess you're just so used to the mixed bands that anyone that has some real talent and can sing live sounds "bad" to you. Sucks to have your ears I guess!
@curlysuedan I have no idea what you're talking about... Simple Plan is terrible, never heard of Hedley. TBS is my favorite band in the world and has been for 6 years now. How would someone who can sing live sound "bad" to a person, exactly? I'm speaking totally from a vocal point of view. He has no idea what he's doing, he has poor technique, he is always flat or out of key, and he is completely losing his voice. I'm talking nowadays. Not in this video.
@curlysuedan The ability to sing is to be in the correct key and pitch at all (or most) times. Adam doesn't have the range he used to due to the destruction of his voice through careless activity such as cigarettes. Sure, he is entertaining as hell live. He looks cool when he swings his mic. He's funny and charming. He hangs from the ceiling at times. Doesn't mean his vocals are up to snuff and doesn't mean that he doesn't use a ton of pitch correction and auto tune in studio.
@sk8brder40 Sorry I just disagree. I saw them this past summer and his voice was great. He was not flat or out of key. I've been a fan for a long time too so I've seen their earlier shows and now their later shows. They've just matured. And I'm speaking "totally from a vocal point of view" as well. In my opinion he is not completely losing his voice. I'm not sure why we're arguing about this, I have my opinion and enjoy their music while you have your opinion.
