Most of our modern day churches are deceived, they aren't telling their followers about the importance of repentance. Without repentance no one will see the kingdom of God. I thank the Lord Yeshua for men of God like David Wilkerson, who stand up for the truth and preach repentance. The Bible states that few will find the narrow way leading to salvation, because mankind loves their sins and will not depart from them.

It means that you realize the holiness of God and your blatant, abominable sinfulness. That you surrender to the Lordship of Christ Jesus and call upon Him for HIs mercy to change your ways in order live like He tells you to. It is a hatred of sins, a hatred of selfishness: a radical turn to live for God.

hopefully you found the answer to this by now, but repent means to "change your mind" in essence.

so when it's used in the context of sin, repentance means you once loved sin and hated God--before coming to God... and now you must hate sin and love God with all your heart, mind, and soul.

If you hate sin, you will stay away from it, it will disgust you, and sadden you whenever you commit it... to a point of true repentance for hate of the deed done--and not the punishment.

@droptozro You CANNOT hate sin until you in faith (mustard seed) go to the cross of Jesus Christ believing that He has forgiven you and desires to give you a new life. The Holy Spirit Himself comes into that person, makes them born again and clothes them with Righteousness, Joy & Peace teaching them all things. Condemnation kills but the Spirit gives Life. 2Corint 3:6
