  • He's singing bout his son.

  • It is very lucky to have in life, a unique being that radiates light and positivity.

  • Love this song, one of the best that Mickey Newberry ever wrote.

  • I am confused, I thought the song was composed by The Tumbleweeds. Actually, I don't know.

  • 0:11 bless you (:

  • We are losing these stars as we speak, enjoy 'em while ye' can!

  • The Brenda Lee version is really good, as well as the Everly Brothers. I like Willie but he doesn't do this song justice here.

  • One of Mickey Newbury's finest songs.

  • Beautiful..The old ones just are getting better and better...Love Jody Payne, too..

Thanks a lot... Love Marie, Norway.

  • dottie west and don gibson dueted this i have it on my channel

  • At the Paradiso Jan,2007; The Great Willie Nelson. A member of the World's 'Hemp Promotion's Celebrities. Be Lucky irra.

  • the song sweet memories is actually written and first recorded by Mickey Newbury you should check out Mickey's version

  • LULU version of this song is beautiful its on her Melody Fair album, the words are very touching...thanx Willy love ya

  • thank you Willie for standing up for the 9/11 truth movement.

Everyone should watch your interviews with Alex Jones right here on Youtube!

  • Willie must have been about 72 when this was done and he was still going strong. I guess it is all the vegetables he took all his life that kept him young and strong.. Perhaps smoking them does more good than eating them. Mushrooms, canabis, tobacco, ect.

  • excellent

  • Great!!

Can you also upload 2 more willie's songs ? "Always will be" & "Picture In a Frame".

  • This was written by Mickey Newbury, I believe. I loved how Willie did this back in the '70s. The rhythm played by The Drummer here is completely off, but Willie is so professional!

  • Buffy Sainte-Marie recorded this on her album "Moonshot," which was released in 1972. Check it out.

  • Hey, you're right. Mickey Newbury is credited as the songwriter on Moonshot.

  • You try and keep tempo with Willie. His phrasing is so unique. I agree the drummer is having some troubles, I probably would have tried using brushes and play quarter notes as often as possible and keep Willie out of my monitor mix. Willie knows how to play with his phrasing and tempos but somehow he pulls it off. In other words don't try and follow Willie Nelson... you can't.

  • This is a Buffy Saite Marie song, and if you want to hear a beautiful version, listen to hers.

  • Or just listen to this one...?

  • I love Buffy and she is a great writer and like most writers of the time, honored Mickey Newbury, he had cuts by Joan Baez, Kenny Rogers, Willie, Johnny Cash and many more. He one told Kristopherson that he was glad Kris decided to take up acting because if he had stayed focused on writing he just might get as good as Mickey...only Mickey could say that to Kris and it be true...Johnny Cash referred to both of them as the greatest writers in Nashville.

  • beautifully!

  • Ive been on stage with Willie, he is the consumate professional and so down to earth. and his voice remains as it always has been, not the cookie cutter stuff you hear today. The ballads are CW, not country rock crossover stuff!

  • only be fleeting remorse of my memories, sweet memories,

  • Years ago I had the honor of working as an "Extra" in the movie "Songwriter" Starring Willie Nelson and Kris Kristoperson, and of course the sweet Leslie Ann Warren and that onry dude, Mr. Rip Torn. It was really quite an experiecne to watch these people workin so hard at what they love to do best. Everyone in that Austin Opry House showed me something...just how much they all loved Willie Nelson...!

  • Were you around when my friend Brandon Sinks and Willie's son Billy, drove the golf cart into a water hazard on Willies golf course during the filming of that movie...

  • his voice is still the same for years an years an years,,,,,,amasion

  • sweet memories indeed. never heard him sing this number with such deep passion. excellent!

  • Hot Damn......I've loved him since the first time I heard him...... Damn he's HOT.....

  • I can't get over how Great this guy is.... It's Like watching moving Art ! ! !

  • Willie released "Sweet Memories" around 71' or 72' on an album by the same name, very hard to find today.

  • Actually, that was a compilation album. It first appeared on the 1968 album Good Times, which reached 29 on the billboard album charts. First side of the album is very sparse and good, while the second side has a bit too much ochestra. But overal a nice early album...certainly worth chasing down.

  • Like no other.. Willie is king!

  • Thanks for posting these cool videos!!! Please post more when you get a minute. Willie Rocks!!!

  • what kind of piece of sh!t cop arrested willie for weed. thats wrong.

  • Just saw the show tonight. Catch this tour if you can! Willie, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and ASATW ...these guys are just the best. Sweet Memories indeed.

  • When I have the time I will put up a lot more stuff, including new songs like 'A Moment Of Forever', 'I Gotta Get Over You Again' and a part of 'Super Man'. Those new songs were fantastic! I guess that Kenny chesney produced album will be a classic (out in June/ July)

  • I love these new songs. Have you by any chance got any more from this show or tour please?

  • New song? Micky Newberry wrote and recorded this over thirty years ago............

  • Bob Dylan recorded Tomorrow Night in '92 - the oldest song I know, but it was still new to me! This is new from Willie I meant. I've never heard him do it before.

  • Touche! Willie's versions of many older songs usually are as good as or better than the original, but this ones not too good - and I'm a great "Willie" fan.

  • You have to listen to this particular version a couple of times, because the fidelity isn't good. It sounded amazing in Paradiso that night. By the way, have you heard his older version from the 60's? The new one on last of the breed, with Merle and Ray is outstanding...certainly one of the best new recordings I've heard this year.

  • And his version will always be the best...it is haunting and beautiful...I love Willie and at the end of Mickey's life, he was there for him...he was talking to Mickey about putting a song of his on a new album..love them both.

  • What's to say? So many have gone - Elvis,Eddie, Jim,Roy,Chet,Marty and so many others; but we do, at least , have "Sweet memories" of each and every one of them..........How grateful we all should be - I know I am.
